Rated 3 out of 5 by 4 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Portable Charger! I have had the Yellow Jacket for many years and I Love it. I use it for endurance rides. I take a 12 volt lawn mower battery and can charge 5 portable corrals. It contains all our horses for 3+ days. It is compact and fits in the container with all the fencing stuff. The D cell batteries are OK but the lawn mower battery really works better for my needs. I would highly recommend it. August 14, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good product I've had this charger for 4 years now and really like it. My horses respect a charged fence. The charger doesn't put out a strong pulse, but it is enough to keep my horses in my movable corral. Only have to change the "D" cell batteries twice in a summer. June 18, 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by Defectuous product This product does not work well with 4-D batteries. The importer is aware of it and they fixed mine (warranty) and for a while it worked although very irregular. It works with a 6 or 12 Volt battery. May 25, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Unreliable D Cell Thgis unit turned out to be unreliable when using the D-Cell battery option, failing on the trail when needed or used stopped worked when needed. The unit still works on the 12-volt option. March 27, 2012

which wire goes on top, black or white?
A shopper on May 14, 2015
Best Answer: I apologize for taking so long to answer your question. The two small wires that come with this unit are to be used with a larger battery. I use just 4 D cell batteries so I am not certain that I am competent to give you advice. I believe that you can also charge this unit with a square 6 cell battery. Refer to your info booklet that came with the Zareba. Using the 4 D cell batteries you put your corral wire on the very top of the unit. Be sure to put the wire between the two metal disc that are under the screw. Just remember that clean metal gives the maximum contact and therefore the greatest charge. On the back of the unit you have a place to connect a wire that says ground. You will need about 8 inches of 14 gauge wire for this. Make sure to strip both ends. One end is attached to where the ground marker is and the other end goes into your bracket that will hold up the unit to the re-bar post you will need to use. I use a four foot re-bar as my ground. On the back of the bracket is a place that you stick in the other end of the 8 inch ground wire. Be sure to put you re-bar in the ground at least 8 inches as this will give you a better charge. Be sure to get a metal posts (re-bar works well) that the bracket will fit on. My first re-bar was too thin so I put two of them in the ground and that way the bracket would fit tight enough to also hold up the Zareba charger I use the unit on high and I run it as a portable corral. When I used new batteries my charge got up to 7000 volts. You only need 2000 to contain horses. Needless to say no animal went near the wire....including me! You will only touch this thing once. I am very impressed with the Zareba charger and use it for camping as well as adapting my trail mules from a dry lot to 15 acres of grass. Be sure to get advice on using step in stakes and always run at least two lines to contain horses. Dianne Prehm
