« Back to Blog Home The History of Horseback Riding Posted on Thursday, January 31, 2019 It is believed that the Western style of riding originated in the mid 1600’s in northern Mexico and the southwest part of the United States. In this style, originally, the cowboy and cowgirl ride horses for purposes having to do with agricultural work. Deep-seated saddles, very different from the ones used in the English style, are used in the Western style riding.
