The History of Horseback Riding

It is believed that the Western style of riding originated in the mid 1600’s in northern Mexico and the southwest part of the United States. In this style, originally, the cowboy and cowgirl ride horses for purposes having to do with agricultural work. Deep-seated saddles, very different from the ones used in the English style, are used in the Western style riding. Nowadays, a lot of the time, people ride Western style in rodeos, various other competitions, trail riding and leisurely riding adventures.
