Stübben Equi-Soft Girth Pad Bottom Please note: This is ONLY the Girth Bottom The Equi-Soft girth is a revolutionary answer to girthing discomfort. While everyone has spent significant time perfecting saddle design, little has been done to improve the girth over the centuries. The root cause of discomfort is the constriction caused by girthing which reduces circulation and decreases the range of motion of underlying musculature. Various methods have been employed to mitigate girth pressure over the years such as elastic on one or both ends, mohair, string, and neoprene. Proper saddle construction and fit has lessened the need to over tighten a girth. In conjunction with proper saddle fit, all of these products provided relief by limiting the amount we can tighten the girth. Still, none of these products have effectively dealt with the root cause. The Equi-Soft girth, when properly adjusted, effectively deals with the constriction by giving in all directions and markedly reducing the tension. This frees the underlying musculature, allows better circulation, and decreases the restriction of motion of the gut. As respiration is enhanced and the horse experiences less discomfort, pulse rate has been shown to be reduced during exercise. Since the muscles are less restricted, lateral flexibility is enhanced as well as the horses ability to employ the external obliques, serratus and other abdominal muscles necessary to support the topline. This is manifested in greater extension of the foreleg and more active employment of the hind quarters. The bottom is extremely easy to clean and change out. Simply peel off Velcro. Mattes Platinum Half Pad with Rear Trim Once you've tried it you'll never want to be without lambskin trim ever again The MATTES half-pad is always a good choice, for general riding, dressage or show jumping. If you have a taste for the finer things in life, we recommend a lambskin half-pad with lambskin trim front and back on the top and lambskin lining beneath the saddle area - you can choose the colors yourself. The half-pad is stylishly finished with a top band, binding and our popular quilted pattern in fabric or velvet. Setting new standards The MATTES half-pad is available in general purpose, dressage and show jumping styles in sizes S, M, L and XL. You are free to choose the design of the outer side: without lambskin padding, with lambskin padding and trim at the front, with lambskin padding and trim at the back and with lambskin padding and trim at the front and back. The underside of the half-pad can either have no lambskin at all, or a lambskin lining beneath the saddle area. The lambskin is available in more than 30 different colors. The top band and piping are available in almost 50 colors. The optional Velcro keepers on the sides come in more than a dozen different shades, or as our PM system. MATTES uses high quality cotton/polyester blend quilted fabric. The core of the half-pad is made of two layers: POLY-FLEX(R) (a deep-needled polyester felt) is used to maintain the shape and spread the pressure, while polyester wadding provides padding. We completely avoid foam, neoprene or gel, making the whole pad breathable. The half-pad is available with the CORRECTION (R) System on request, with a choice of one or two pockets; we supply three 5 mm-thick felt shims (POLY-FLEX (R) ) for each pocket, offering the same pressure relief as a good quality new saddle, padded with wool and horsehair. MATTES developed the CORRECTION (R) System to allow flexible and easy changes to saddle fit by up to 30 mm: to easily compensate for the rapid physical development of young horses in training, for horses that have been out of work for some time, or for trained horses which change shape a lot during the competition season, whenever quick alterations are needed.
