love this pad for trail riding.

I have used these pads before. This purchase is for my husbands mare as we go every Sunday for a 3-4 hour trail ride through the State Forest. We use these pads for western riding. These pockets carry just about everything, so we can go well prepared. Just love them.

I don't like things flapping around when I ride.. this should be very helpful for my phone and safety equipment.
Joan B on May 2, 2014
I choose this as a gift for my cousin with an Australian saddle. Her saddle has a rounded skirt, and she wanted a pad that went better with her saddle. The fact that it has pockets is great and it's a good price. Hopefully she will like it!
Morgan W on May 1, 2014
good for trail rides

has pockets for long rides. This saddle pad is AWESOME!
Kathleen M on Sep 16, 2013
So far I like this pad. The pockets are very large. Not sure yet how my horse will like having cold water bottles next to her side. Hopefully it is thick enough for her not to notice. It is so open that I am affraid my cell phone might pop out at the trot or canter. But i am sure you can put a large water bottle in it,or two, plus a camera and phone. Overall a nice pad, the material is hot and made my horse sweat, but it is summer time and hot anyway. Think it will be nice for trail riding.

Will this pad work for an Aussie saddle ?
A shopper on Mar 27, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I purchased this pad for use with an all purpose English saddle and I don’t think an Aussie would fit well with it. Also, the pad wasn’t the best quality so I returned it.
Does anyone know the actual size of the pockets? Thanks!
Powderr on Apr 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: 8 1/2" x 10" pockets
Does the pad have a peaked wither relief?
Nan N on Dec 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It really doesn't. It is just like a regular square pad that you might use with an English saddle.
Is the 28" divided to run only 14" on a side?
Patty D on Oct 18, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No...from the center down it's 21 inches each side. The width from shoulder towards hip is the 28. It has 1 clip pocket on each side which I found very handy. I changed from gaited endurance to a lighter cordura and still use it as a pad under my saddle blanket for absorption and keep the blanket clean. It is a great deal for the price..absorbance is very good. I and my horse love it.
How long is the pad from the spine down the side?
Patty D on Oct 18, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It is just under 20 inches. It is a thin pad so I put a square quilted pad under it and it has always stayed put.
When you say it is 40 inches long, do you mean 20 inches on either side of the wither line?
Patty D on Oct 10, 2016
BEST ANSWER: "40" is the length from front of spine to the back
QUESTION: I see mixed reviews on the wicking ability of this saddle, some say it's too hot and the horse gets overly sweaty, and others say it has great wicking ability. They can't both be right. It either wicks well or it doesn't. And curious how you keep 2 pads attached? Only the one against the saddle would attach to the straps, I would assume that the one against the horse would slide out? How do you deal with that? Please and Thanks!
Christine John J on May 24, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hello. I'm sorry for taking so long to answer your question. When I realized this pad was thin I put a pony size dressage pad under it so it was shorter all the way around and it did not show under the top pad. I did not know if it would slip or not. It didn't so I kept using it. I was just walking on trails in the woods and I did not have a problem. Maybe I was just lucky as most times the unattached pad would slip. Also, I may have used the velcro straps at the bottom of the dressage pad to wrap around the girth. That would have kept it from slipping.
Would this fit a Tucker endurance saddle?
A shopper on Mar 8, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I use it with my Tucker Equitation Endurance saddle - depending on the size seat of your saddle it should work for you .. my saddle is a 17.5 I believe and it just fits.
28" WIDE - is this the actual spine length or the widest width lower down?
thanks
Kate B on Dec 24, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The 28" wide is the widest width lower down.
Is this contoured to stay off the withers?
A shopper on Nov 28, 2015
BEST ANSWER: No, you would need more padding as this is a thin blanket. I love mine! and I use a thicker half pad with it.
The page says navy, but it looks purple. Anyone know what color it looks like in person?
A shopper on Sep 21, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It if definitely navy blue-not purple.
Would this fit an Aussie saddle?
A shopper on Sep 21, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Originally this was purchased to go with a bareback pad; but we have been using it with our western saddles. I see no reason why it could not be used with a stock seat saddle.

We have found this to be a good choice for trail riding giving a good cushion for the horse and wicks away the sweat much easier. Cleaning is easy also, I just soak it in a tub of sudsy water and rinse clean. I would buy it again if I needed to. The extra pockets come in handy too!
