Fitting Your Horse's Blanket:
The fit of your blanket is extremely important to the comfort of your pony. An improperly fitted blanket can cause rubbing and slippage. To find out what size Amigo® blanket your pony needs, measure the distance from the center of the chest to the center of the tail. Horseware Amigo® blankets are sized in three-inch increments, so you will need to choose the closest size available. If you measure between sizes, we recommend that you round up.

Care Of Your Horse’s Blanket:
To keep your blanket as comfortable as possible for your pony and to maximize the blanket's life, we recommend that you clean your blanket annually. First, remove excess dirt from the outside of the blanket with a brush and hose. The blanket can then be washed either by hand, or on a delicate cycle with cool water in a commercial washer. Use only very mild soap. Horseware® recommends Rambo® Rug Wash, an environmentally friendly product for use on synthetic fabrics. Rambo® Rug Wash will effectively remove dirt without damaging the waterproof coating. When the blanket has been washed, allow to drip dry and ensure that the blanket is thoroughly dry before storage. Do not put your pony's blanket in the dryer or wash with hot water. Do not store your pony's blanket if damp or wet. This will damage the waterproof coating and void any warranties. In the unlikely event that your pony blanket should become nicked or damaged due to horse abuse Horseware® recommends Rambo® Stormsure or the Rambo® Blanket Repair Kit to contain and waterproof the nicks that your blanket may incur through the years.

My 16 year-old Warmblood/Arab Cross is pasture boarded (he can't stand to be stalled). After 10 years in Louisiana, where he was never blanketed even during the rare snow/ice storms, surprised me with shivering during windy/rainy cold days here in North Texas. (he will rarely go into the run-in) Blanketing helps, but the temperature swings result in his being hot. I'm hoping this will protect him from the wind and rain.

Hard to find blankets that fit a Quarter Horse. Not happy with Horseware Amigo's as they tend to not last. Love all of my Horseware Rambos. Horseware used to have a Quarter Horse cut in Rambo but now only have the Amigo Stock Horse blanket. The Quarter Horse Rambo came in a sheet, mid, and heavy. The Amigo only comes in the sheet and mid.

I know a horse who wears the same blanket, so I know it's a good product, and one of my older mares needs it to keep warm, dry and clean.

Are these cut big?
A shopper on Jan 4, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes; i still purchased the extender for the chest to ensure my percheron/ Quarter mare had room. She has a wide chest and the extender helped.
Is this blanket water proof?
Annamaria P on May 14, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I believe it is. I only buy horseware because it stays in place. I no longer buy the less expensive models, Amigos etc. the closures, etc are just not as good. I ended up with the horse ware rain sheet, yes it is waterproof. Do not wash it only with blanket wash, it compromises it a bit. But mine is still waterproof, do is my horseware day sheet.
Amigo blankets run small?
A shopper on Dec 26, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I bought a 76 as my Thoroughbred mare is almost 33 and has lost body mass so her 78 & 81 sheets were falling way too long on her legs. This fits her very nicely and not too long so she doesn’t get tangled when getting up from laying down.
I am looking for an 84 amigo turn out sheet?
Robin terry R on Mar 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I'm sorry, this sheet is not available in a size 84.
Could I use this Amigo blanket as a turnout sheet with no fill, but also as an "everyday" heavy blanket with one of the liners (300g or 200g) in the winter? I like the idea of using this as a shell, but then purchasing different fill liners. How well do the liners stay in place?

Also I have a warmblood mare, but she is very broad and stocky (16.1 - typically a 78, 80 is a little big). Would a 78 fit or should I go with an 80 for a little more room?
Chloe on Dec 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, you can!
I measured our Welsh pony as described above. He measured 68". I have heard these blankets run large will this blanket be to big if I order a 68?Are they true to size as 68 is the smallest offered. The pony is 13.1 hands tall and is normal pony body size. Not long or short bodied. Not heavy or thin.
Adriene A on Sep 14, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The Horseware Amigo Stock Horse Turnout Sheet is sized in 2" increments for stockier breeds. If your pony is not stocky, we would recommend looking at a different sheet.

Description says works with "selected" Rambo, Rhino and Amigo blankets...but which ones?
Specifically, I'm interested in using it with the Amigo Stock Horse Sheet. Are they compatible?

BEST ANSWER: Yes they are compatible.

It is an incredible liner and will attach using the Velcro neck straps from the blanket and by clipping the tail cord to the liner's provided hardware. All hardware is perfectly aligned.
I am looking for a waterproof sheet for the Western Washington Winter it gets VERY wet here but not too cold. I want to allow him to develop his winter coat but stay dry at the same time. What turn out sheet would you recommend?
A shopper on Aug 30, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I really like the Amigo brand, and I own a whole lot of them. I'm a barn owner and have seen blankets of all varieties, and have to say that Horseware Ireland is hands-down the winner over the years. I have a Rambo from Horseware Ireland that's been used for over 11 years and still going strong. Amigos are less tough, so if you have a horse that likes to rip through blankets, Amigo isn't a good buy--Rambo is far, far superior. Kensington is also nice, but I've noticed the hardware breaks quickly so you always have to be prepared with replacement buckles/snaps/hooks. Obviously Rambos are a lot more expensive, but they're definitely worth it. The worst (DO NOT BUY) brands are Hug sheets--cheap and rip constantly and SmartPak brand blankets as the stuffing comes out very quickly. Whenever someone brings either of those into the barn, I groan, as Smartpak blankets in the Gelding pasture create cotton "snow" by the next morning, and I always have an unhappy horse owner.
Does this sheet come with the neck cover?
Alyssa B on Apr 25, 2015
BEST ANSWER: no you have to buy it separate
does horsewear liner work with this?
A shopper on Feb 20, 2015
BEST ANSWER: You could put a liner under almost any blanket, but if you are looking for an Amigo that's designed to work specifically with the Horseware brand liner, please take a look at the Horseware Amigo Bravo T/O Blanket 370g (item E010103).
Will this fit a warmblood?
A shopper on Nov 30, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Don't know about a warmblood, but it definitely fits my horse that is of foundation quarter horse type. She measured 76 and the 76 fits perfectly with no gaping at the neck like all of my other blankets. If your horse has a really thick neck, perhaps it will not fit. There is no adjustment with the front closure.
what is thedifference between the sizing in teh hoods s, m l.. also if my horse measures 74 inches from chest center to center of tail would a 74 be right, i know some of the amigo bravo blankets fit large?
