I have used Remission for several years for a couple mules prone to laminitis. It brings them out of the acute stage within about 72 hours. One mule is kept on it year round because he is insulin resistant, and as long as we also use a grazing muzzle on him, he stays sound!

I had a pony founder a little bit. She is very uncomfortable. My shoer recommended trying Remission because he has seen it work on similar issues. Sure hope it does work.
Kris D on Feb 24, 2019
I have ponies, one with Cushings who has foundered in the past. I think this helps balance their systems and helps prevent future episodes. Both ponies eat it well with no complaints.

My elderly mare founders easily and needs help. She has been taking this for a year, along with MSM. While she continues to experience health issues, she has been much better off with the supplements.

Bobbie R on Oct 2, 2018
My horse is potentially laminitic, and my farrier friend recommended this because she's seen it work well on other horses. Giving a shot!
Ariel H on Sep 28, 2018
My Peruvian Paso and mini horse are very easy easy keepers. I keep them on this year round and feel that it helps them with insulin resistance issues. I had a retired Peruvian that was on it since he was 18 (when I got him) he was my main trail horse until he was 30. He lived until he was 37. He and my current Peruvian (12 years) and the pony are now on three AniMed products, like my old guy was; MSM, Glucosamine 5000 and Remission.
mama Lee on Sep 23, 2018
I keep my horse on Remission ever since she foundered in 2011. She has not foundered since (I also moved to Florida). Sassy is 31 yr old mare is now sound and I still ride her. Highly recommend this product. I believe it helped my horse during recovery time and now use maintenance dose.
Peggy H on Sep 23, 2018
I think this helps with lainitis. We never REALLY know which supplements are doing a great job but I can tell you my horses have had no recurring episodes. I also feed 1/4 cup per day.
Gloria O on Sep 16, 2018
Have a new overweight haflinger mare with bad hooves. Giving this a try to see her weight and hooves improve. Will change the way she's fed as well. Fingers crossed.

Can I use this all year round?
A shopper on Aug 6, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes, if it balances your hay it’s fine to use year round. Remember, in the northern hemisphere it’s time for the seasonal rise and symptoms will be worse than in the summer. Hope that helps!
Is this a pellet food or powder? Could I feed it all by itself or do I need to mix it into other feed?
A shopper on Jul 26, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Remission is a powder. I always sprinkle it over other pelleted feed. I wouldn't feed it alone, since the powder is quite "powdery", and might cause issues. That being said, the daily ration is small, so choking on powder is probably not an issue. My horses that get it don't have any problems eating it. No one is refusing it.
Is this product safe to give to mini donkeys?
Lesley on Jul 18, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I would give this to any equine. It works great and is very well priced. Follow amount for weight. I gave to my 27 yr old Arab mare with Cushing. Worked great. I rescued an Arab gelding three yrs ago with cracks in his hooves all the way up to the coronet band. His hoof no longer has cracks and are very healthy. My friend is surprised how his coat looks with all his bay dapples. Been buying this products for more than seven years. LOVE IT. BETTER THAN SOME HIGHER PRICED HOOF MEDS.
A friend recommended this product. I have a horse with navicular. Worth a try. He is on prevocix, senior flex from smartpak. Doing 1oz. This good for long term usage?
Debra L on Jun 26, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I have a 30 yr old mini and he has been on Remission for a couple of years, along with MSM and Thyrol-L. I can't be sure that this has kept him from foundering but there doesn't seem to be any long term side effects and I don't intend to stop using it.
I would this be benifical and safe for a donkey?
Sandy on Nov 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I used it for my horse who had developed Cushings. I used the product as a preventative measure.
She never foundered. I don't see why you couldn't use it for a donkey. It is mostly magnesium, anti-oxidants and omega's. That being said I would still check with your veterinarian.
Can this be given to mini donkeys?
Donkeymom on Jun 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I have been giving this to my senior Arabian mare for about 2 years it seems to help and she has not experienced any adverse effects. I expect it would be ok for your mini donkey but check with your vet or AniMed on the correct dosage.
Can Remission be given along with Levothyroxine?
Trish on May 25, 2018
BEST ANSWER: ask your veterinarian. I'm using this along with chaste tree berry for my cushings mare. she had a little more pep in her step after 10 days of use.
Can I feed Remission and Farriers Double Strength supplement at the same time, or is this too much of the same ingredients?
A shopper on Feb 18, 2018
BEST ANSWER: My mare foundered due to a metabolic change that made her not be able to handle alfalfa anymore. She was on Horse Shoer's Secret and the vet said to stop it because it contains alfalfa. You should discuss with your vet, as suggested.
I am feeding this and Hoof Medic to a Paso fino that is on a hay diet plus Nutrena Empower. Is this safe? Is there anything else I need to add to ensure that he is receiving a full complement of vits, mins, omegas, etc?
Diane on Jul 3, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I think a vet or someone with a equine nutrition degree would be best suited to answer this question. I don't know anything about hoof medic or empower.
It can be so technical to make sure horses get everything they need.( hay analysis etc) I personally feed mineral 12:12 by purina. 12 vitamins, 12 minerals in it. U can feed it free choice and if the horse feels he needs it, he can eat it. Or, he can pass it by.
As far as the remission product, I am very happy with it. I have two easy keepers and it definitely helps them take weight off easier and it made my gelding's coat shiny.
Does it have biotin in it?
Kaitlyn L on Feb 21, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes it has 20 mg biotin/ounce. Here is the guaranteed analysis for 1 ounce which is 2 scoops. I have my mare on 2 scoops/day in the spring and the rest of the year I have her on a maintenance dosage of 1 scoop.

GUARANTEED ANALYSIS per ounce (2 scoop): l-Lysine 2150mg, Methionine 3000mg, Linolenic Acid (Omega 3 Fatty Acid) 510mg, Magnesium 6000mg, Selenium 1ppm, Zinc 100mg, Biotin 20mg, Niacin 40mg, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) 1200mg, Vitamin E 70IU, Total Lactic Acid Bacteria (Probiotics) 175 million CFU
How long do you do the loading dose?
Savannah S on Nov 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I use Remission spring and summer along with a grazing muzzle to manage my gelding's sugar intake. In dead of summer, I could give him up to 8 scoops a day. I've had to since where I live there grass produces a lot of sugar. I've fed the product this way for the past few years.

To answer your question, loading is usually a 2-4 week period.
can it be fed to pregnant or breeding mares?
Jill H on Nov 18, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes! I have fed Remission to pregnant mares with no problems. It has actually made the mares on it more comfortable.
Has anyone used this for miniature horses? (approx. 300 lbs)
Ashley on Jul 13, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I have not used it for minis but have been using it for a large pony - app 700lbs. A combination of an excellent farrier, feed and weight management, and use of this product according to instructions has produced successful results. It was suggested this pony be put down but he is once again a ridden trail horse. Don't be afraid to persevere in fighting founder and best of wishes for a full recovery. :)
Will this help a pony who I think has foundered and has a hard time walking around?
Ringa on Apr 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: it seems to keep the hooves, hard but for that you might want to consult a vet
My horse had seedy toe in February but has recovered somewhat thanks to my farriers regular trim. He still thinks the hoof is not growing well enough and asked me to get biotin. I'm looking for a long term solution. Could remission be fed with animed biotin? Thanks.
A shopper on Jul 2, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Since Animed "Remission" already contains some Biotin, there would likely not be a drug interaction with adding a small amount to beef up the the quantity the horse is fed as a booster. How-ever, as with any supplement there is such a thing as "to much of a good thing" so I would suggest asking your Vet or googling one of the Vet sites to check for the optimal amount to feed based on the weight of your animal. Keeping the feet as dry as possible will help as well as applying an antibacterial(eg:peroxide or a somewhat dilute iodine based compound) to the bottom of the hooves to prevent bacteria entering the laminae and causing infections, inflammation or hoof diseases can be of help.
In the ad at the bottom it states that (Please note, due to the active ingredient Chromium, this item is not for sale in Texas. We apologize for the inconvenience.) My Question is WHY????
Jennifer K on Jan 17, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Texas has Chromium as a restricted item, so we are unable to ship products containing that ingredient to that state.
