Winter boots
I love these boots! I've had great luck with Ariat boots before and these didn't let me down! Plenty of room for a heavy sock and still comfortable. Great to ride in.

Crazy about these boots!
I bought these a year ago for use around horses, but have recently had three opportunities to wear them in snow, including Alaska in February! My toes stayed dry and warm and comfy and I never slipped in the snow either! They also cleaned up very easily. This is one of the best buys I ever made!

Love these boots
Before finding these, I ordered three pairs of winter riding boots, and sent them all back. #1: a tall boot (Mountain Horse) that didn't fit my calves. #2: zip paddock boots (Ariat) that were stiff and uncomfortable. #3: (also Mountain Horse) - well, just - no. But - these are great. Speed laces tie against a padded tongue, making them very comfortable at the bottom of my shins just above the ankles. Zip boots are stiff and unyielding at that spot. These boots are flexible enough at the ankle to make them comfortable for riding, and they fit easily into my stirrup irons. In the month or so that I've had these boots, I have worn them in sub-zero temps, and walked on ice, and through mud, manure, shavings and puddles. My feet remain warm and dry. The only (small) problem I have with these boots is some difficulty zipping my half chaps over them. But I can deal with that. Five stars!

Very comfortable and warm
Fits well with Smartwool socks. Very comfortable and warm. The lacing keeps the boots snug on my feet. Very happy with this purchase.

I have had two previous pairs of these boots and they are great. Keep your feet warm and dry and are comfortable from day one. What more can you ask for

Just what I was looking for
The boots offer good support and have a warm Thinsulate lining. They have made riding in chilly mid 30 temperatures enjoyable. I ordered a half size larger to be able to wear heavy socks. The heel is a nice height to help keep my foot in the stirrup. The boots do not restrict movement in or out of my stirrups.

These do run a bit narrow (but my feet are wide).
The quality is great and the boots are nice, but they do run more narrow than the previous models of Ariat winter paddocks. Wish they ran a little wider, to allow for thicker socks!

One of the VERY BEST BOOTS I"VE EVER HAD !!
I 've worn my first pair of these boots for 9 years, yes 9 years!! All I do to keep them looking smart is clean with saddle soap and polish. They have kept my feet toastie from the first time I put them on in November until I take them off in April or May. I've never met a stronger, better boot than these.I wear them for hours at a time to all day standing on freezing floors and out in freezing weather, pouring rain, hours in the saddle and I've never had a complaint.
If I was to suggest, that the tongue be made of leather instead of pleather.I am desperately looking for a size 8.5 to replace my ones that I really should retire. But since it's November already, I'll have to make do until I can. Please Ariat, ALWAYS make these boots. I've never had better and I'm not always kind to boots, but these have been kind to me and kept up with my tough life. I've always had problems with cold feet, well thanks to these boots I don't anymore.

Years ago I had a pair of these, probably first generation, and they lasted me for a very long time. Not to mention they were comfortable, durable and they look good!

I've used these for winter barn/riding boots for the last 10 years. They keep my feet warm and dry; love'em.
Gretchen G on May 30, 2017
I trust the Ariat brand and I liked the idea of the comfort of the lace-up/tongue vs. zip-up. I live in ID, so I needed a pair of boots that could hold up to the winter elements while keeping my feet warm (and dry). I would highly recommend these boots!

These boots are incredible! Very warm (even in a MN winter) waterproof so far, available in 1/2 sizes (thank goodness!) and they don't rub or chafe. They fit very well and feel comfortable. I like the look of them too and I tend to ride in several types - Western, English, etc. I'm delighted with them!!

My sister prefers the tie paddock--I prefer the zip. Hers were beyond worn out, so I figured it would be a nice Xmas gift...

I was actually looking for a western insulated boot but could not find one, so saw this boot which shows it is insulated. I already have a pair of tall snow boots that close with side Velcro strips so wanted something shorter for now and even going into the spring and fall.

Hoping to duplicate the warmth and fit and comfort of a pair of ariat insulated lace up paddock boots I bought at least 15-20 years ago and just finally bit the dust. They were dear friends

Does Ariat make this boot without the winter insulation?

BEST ANSWER: Yes, they do! Item# E005211

Do they fit a wide foot?
susanb on Dec 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: NO! I ordered the same size as my other Ariats and they are way too tight. I can barely get them on with a shoe horn, length is OK but width is very narrow. Wish I had not ordered.
Does this boot have a round toe or the normal Ariat wedge shape?
Kathy C on Dec 18, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I bought these boots last year and I love them. Yes, they do have more of a rounded toe. It is more rounded than the paddock boot. They are not ppointed or wedgey at all.
What r they insulated with?
A shopper on Mar 14, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Thinsulate is built into the shoe. It works like this: a thin or regular thickness warm sock, like Smatwool, and enough room to really wiggle your toes. It is good down to 20s or colder for a short ride, like a class. If you need a thicker sock, size up. The disappointment is under your footbed. It feels like the cold damp ground is coming through. For this reason, I would size up and try an insert or a thick sock.
Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be much out there to compare. You might want to size up instead on an Ariat goretex skyline boot. It can be used in the barn, rugged hiking, it's comfortable, and waterproof (unless the water comes up over). But in winter, fit it with a thicker sock. And remember, if you can't move your toes around, they will get cold no matter what is in it.
How do these boots run
In size. Should I order 1/2 size larger?
Ann C on Jun 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It's a good idea. They are VERY snug. I ordered them in 2016 to replace a pair that finally wore out, but the design was different and the insulation was all one piece across the instep. In other words, the boot unlaces, but the insulation doesn't. It was too tight across my instep and I sent them back. If this design element has changed, or you don't have a high instep, ordering 1/2 size larger may do the trick. I loved the old boots and was disappointed that the new ones didn't work.
will half chaps fit over these boots they appear bulky at the top.?
ROBIN R on Oct 26, 2017
BEST ANSWER: When I originally bought these, my half chaps from 1991 did not fit over them. I replaced those half chaps, which now fit over both my summer and winter paddock boots. They are a bit bulkier than than the non-insulated, but I quickly became used to them. I also had to switch out my stirrups for more room. My ultimate opinion: in the sub-zero Wisconsin weather, these boots are so worth any accommodations you need to make for them.
Are these boots hot in the summer? I live in Florida.
Karen M on Aug 29, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I loved my old Ariats for winter fun. They held up to wet snow really well. Not sure about my new ones yet as I just got them. I wear them in the summer too for motorcycle riding. They haven't made my feet too hot yet.
There's already a question about going up a half size, but did anyone go up a whole size? They don't have a 10.5 (I usually wear a 10), so I was thinking of trying an 11. These boots everywhere else are at least $40 more, so hoping that maybe going up a whole size won't be too much?
Caitlin on Oct 1, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Since these are winter boots, you may be wearing a thicker sock with them. Try the CarHart wool/woolblend sock with these boots in winter. Your feet will love the combination.
Do these boots have steel toes?
Theresa F on Jun 21, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No, they do not. You should look at our work collection if you want steel toes.
How tall are these boots?
A shopper on Oct 1, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Just under 8" measured from bottom of heel. I use them for winter riding and am very pleased; comfortable and warm.
What color are these boots?
A shopper on Jul 23, 2017
BEST ANSWER: They are black in color. Love them!! Great choice in a Winter or cold weather boot.
If I am a woman and want to buy a mans boot how do I choose a size?
A shopper on Jan 7, 2018
BEST ANSWER: You would size down 1.5 to 2 sizes from your ladies size.
