epoxy coated. Other versions are cheaply galvanized and rust through in about 4-5 years.

Lee Ann C on Apr 24, 2016
I have purchased these before....great value and haven't rusted out like the others. Paid less for these than I did the ones that rusted. I have had 2 for about a year now and still look great.

BEST ANSWER: Love them but the only thing is that with in two weeks they start to rust
I need to purchase a replacement float for this automatic waterer. Can you help?
A shopper on Jun 9, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Nasco has them. Search for a little giant waterer replacement valve. They're better quality than these originals and are only a few a few bucks each, shipping costs make it worth buying two or three to have spares on hand.
Are these automatic watered electric?
A shopper on Feb 12, 2019
BEST ANSWER: They are not electric, you hook you water hose directly to it and it has a float in it, once the water goes down to a certain level the float will allow water to flow back into it. You have to leave your hose on 24/7. It doesn’t leak or anything just make sure you secure it correctly.
How do these attach to pipe corral?
A shopper on Aug 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The back plate of the waterer is flat. I my opinion, if you simply screwed it to the pipe of the corral, I think it would be unstable against the round pipe. You could weld a plate between two pipes giving you a flat area on the corral, and the waterer would mount nicely.
what is it made of...galvanized steel?
A shopper on Apr 20, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I have found them very useful and time saving instead of filling buckets all the time. I live in the tropics so mine did start to show rust spots. Overall, I am very happy with them.
does it freeze?
A shopper on Mar 4, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes.
It will probably be hooked up to your garden hose.
During freezing conditions like we are having now, it's best to remove the garden hose, and provide an alternate source of water in a warmer place.
Besides that, it's way too cold outside for your animals to be outside in freezing temps.
Do you have stainless steel water cups?
A shopper on Feb 12, 2019
BEST ANSWER: This one isnt but has a coating to last longer. We have had 7 in use for 8 years and the horses love them. Even in the hot 104* temps.
CAN THIS BE ATTACHED TO THE WALL?
tammy l on Mar 2, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes it needs to be attached to the wall for stability. It has screw holes to do that with. Just need enough room on the side to attach your water line
Do they freeze up in winter months . If so what do u do to defrost them?
A shopper on Feb 12, 2019
BEST ANSWER: We have no winter in Puerto Rico
Does it have a drain for cleaning?
A shopper on Jan 15, 2019
BEST ANSWER: No it doesn't. However it is easy to clean in that you just scoop out what you want and then it just refills with clean water. I have not found it to be an issue.
Do these come in different colors?
Lisa G on Jul 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No not that I've seen, but it is an awesome waterer. I love that the dish doesn't get corroded anymore.
Has anyone attached this to a rain barrel collector? I am not able to keep a hose turned on all the time. Thanks, Kristin
