Product Summary:

Back On Track Therapeutic Hock Boots

Our Therapeutic Hock Boots with Holes give you another choice for dealing with arthritic or capped hocks. The exterior is a tough neoprene, and the interior is a state-of-the-art Welltex fabric, which reflects your horse’s natural body warmth and creates a soothing far infrared thermal heat. Heat therapy is a well-recognized method used to help relieve and heal injured muscles, joints, and tendons. The boot fastens around the hock but leaves the hock point uncovered. Attached Velcro™ straps allow you to adjust the boots’ fit. When you apply these boots, it helps to use standing wraps to prevent them from sliding down. Our Hock Boots with Holes are ideal to use for injury prevention or recovery. Do not use our Hock Boots without holes for turnout.

Features:

  • Gentle heat therapy for your horse's hocks
  • Neoprene exterior
  • Welltex fabric interior
  • Fully adjustable

I wasn't aware that these boots couldn't be worn alone when a horse was turned out. If my horse does need leg wraps to go with these, what kind do I need to purchase??
A shopper on Aug 25, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Back on Track does have therapeutic leg wraps that are available to purchase. I think they are called quick wraps. If your horse does not run when he is out in like a small paddock area, I think it would be fine to leave them on.
Do this product come with 2 hock boots?
Kylie C on Apr 29, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes....its a pair of hock boots....they are amazing! I love mine. The horse can only wear them while stalled...just an FYI
Is medium for a Quarter Horse? Wraps are not required if I keep horse up in a large paddock, right?
Rhonda S on Dec 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: We use medium on our Quarter horse. We only use the hock boots when shes in her stall because when shes out she tends to run into things that can get them caught. If we are at a show we will also put cool gel or Sore No More on before we put the hock boots and quick wraps on.
My son threw the directions away and I need to know how often and how long to leave these hock boots on! Can anyone help?
Cindy R on Jan 3, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Most BOT products tell you to put it on for several hours at a time until your horse gets used to it. I couldn't get my mare to wear the hock boots as she kept trying to kick them off. I have, however, several other BOT items. I did put the sheet on over night without working her up to that time and sure enough she was "puffy" the next day from over circulation. It's a great product…just put it on for several hours/day for about a week before you leave them on over night. Also, the hock boots are not recommended to leave on unsupervised unless you also use the leg wraps…they will slide down otherwise. Good luck:)
Are there 2 boots per purchase?
A shopper on Mar 31, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes. There are two in a pack.
Do you have Back on Track hock boots without holes?
Charlotte L on Jan 3, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Heya: Haven't used recently, but will soon. I have the kind w/o holes. Because of not enough air, I think the holes will help. They definitely help with the magnets. It draws attention to the area, therefore, more white blood cells. If left on too long, which I did, for 3-4 days, it caused chaffing. Soo, I recommend keeping them on 1/2 the day and then off, due the rub. The sport boot fit boots, really helped the loose tendon, 3x faster than the vet expected, when saying to just wrap. He was shocked. Magnets have their place in a healing process. Good luck. Kay
what size should i order?
A shopper on Nov 9, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Here is the sizing information to help you decide:
Under Hock Over Hock
Small- 10 1/2" 14"
Medium- 12" 15"
Large- 13" 16"

Diameter size of hock point hole 3 1/4".
Will these fit an Arabian mare with finer legs than say a QH?
Susan B on Jul 18, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I have a Warmblood mare, and I had to make the Velcro pulled a little tighter than I expected. A bit of overlap. It reminds me of when a knee brace is too loose from wearing it all the time so you have to pull it tight so it fits correctly. There's an Arabian mare at our barn and the size between my mare and her I would say these would slide right off of her. I hope this helps. You can always order and try them.
Would this be good product for a senior horse that gets sore in the hocks?

Back on Track Therapeutic Exercise Hind Boots
BEST ANSWER: I purchased the quick therapeutic leg wraps off of a recommendation from my equine chiropractor who uses them on her dressage horses. They are nicely made and are easy to use but for some reason, my horse didn't like them. He kept kicking the ground when I put them on. They may have been generating heat if they are therapeutic and he didn't like the feeling. He is very sensitive. But, the quality was definitely there.
If your horse has arthritis in only one hock do you need to wear boots on both hocks or just on the hock with arthritis?
Landi D on Feb 21, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Just the hook with the arthritis, also not recommended to be left on all day. Only a few hours, not turned out in either. If you have any other questions please call customer service 1-888-809-0751.
What size would you recommend for Corgi that's 37 pounds and had ACL surgery?
