Nice, sturdy, great length, leather poppers on end are a very nice plus, fit perfectly in the hand, not too big and not too small!
Great leads! Perfect length, leather poppers on the ends work great when ya need to grab your horse's attention (I slap my leg with the popper to get their attention). They seem to be very strong and sturdy, nice size that fits perfectly in the hand, not stiff in any way, which I love! I hate a stiff lead rope as they make it very difficult to use in the various ways needed when training or doing anything with a horse. I would love to see them make pink and purple leads to match the basic cowboy rope halters

Great length!
Love these lead ropes, I got a bunch of them. They are longer than other ones, and have the leather thingy on the end. So you can tap your horse with it should you need to. And they come in several different colors.

Unfortunately I never got to use it. It was purchased for shipping my horse, and I'm pretty sure it was hanging right there, but the hauler claimed it came with another horse so I let it go.
Great lead rope for a new show season
This lead rope is nice and smooth but is hearty at the same time. It doesn't feel cheap or like it will fall apart. Glad I made the purchase.

Just what I wanted
I ordered lead ropes before, but did not like the bull snaps as much as I thought, they were sturdy, but impossible to take on and off with one hand, at least for me. Ordered these to replace, and very satisfied. The snaps are burley and work smoothly one handed, and I like the leather popper on the end of the lead as well.

The extra length, quality of the rope and superior clasp makes this the perfect lead. Oh and love the popper too!
Bought it for the color, but so glad I did
I have a long mustang rope for lunging smaller circles, so I had an idea of what to hope for in the rope, and I was very happy with this. I bought it to coordinate with a teal weaver halter, the color isn't perfect, but it's close enough. The rope length is great for leading and tieing, when you don't need the extra lunge length. The color is lovely and as pictured. The rope has the nice tight weave of my other mustang rope, so I'm hoping it'll stand up to abuse better than my old nylon lead.

Basic Cowboy Braided Lead Rope
I ordered this lead rope in the color Red. Overall I'm happy with the product especially for the price. The red doesn't match any other red tack items I have. It's almost like a faded red color. Isn't bad or anything just not the same as everything else. Also a con about it is at the end where they attach the leather popper, the way they burn the hole for the leather to thread thru is a bit extreme and looks really tacky, however it works and for how cheap the rope is I'm not complaining! lol

I ordered the raspberry color, and I was happy to see that it perfectly matches the halter I had purchased from State Line as well! I love that the snap is replaceable, and the lead is long. The rope is also a bit slimmer than most others, which is nice for my smaller hands. I love the leather popper on the end, it can really get a horse moving if necessary. This is my new favorite leadrope. I'm going to be ordered at least 2 more.

My Favorite lead rope!
We have used this type of lead rope for years and it still proves to be our favorite one. It is a nice length, good feel to it and the popper on the end is excellent for ground manner reminding. It takes a lot of wear and moisture before the snap starts getting tough to open - which a little WD40 will cure. And ocassionally a horse or dog will chew on the leather popper. IN MY OPINION, THIS IS ONE IS THE BEST ROPES FOR THE MONEY OUT THERE!!!
Fell apart first use
good thing I have horses that don't run off. First time tied up with these lead ropes, the stitching came loose and horses were left with rope hanging from post and a clip hanging from the halters. Too much trouble to return.

Best lead rope ever!
These are the only type of lead ropes we use and love them! The quality is good, the length is perfect and the leather popper is great for quick ground work before riding or corrections while leading. occasionally, if horse has access to it, they will chew on leather end or rope, but it is our fault for leaving them out. You just cant beat the price!
Bulky and unreliable
I bought this rope in the turquoise a couple weeks ago and finally dug it out to take my gelding out for a walk. He tossed his head, and I had the rope loose so I wasn't pulling on it, and where the loop for the connection to the snap is, it pulled right out! It's not woven together or sewn in at all! This all happened in the first 3 minutes of getting my horse out of the paddock, so this rope really deserves 0 stars in my opinion. I like everything about the rope beyond the snap connection. It's light weight and flexible and has a nice popper on the end, but it was utterly useless! I had to walk my horse back by his halter with the rope tied back on to the snap as best I could.Guess that's what I get for going with a $7.99 lead rope! Maybe if you have a super quite horse who is dead-broke and bomb proof and not spooky at all, but if you have anything that actually likes to look around or if you're planning on using this rope for lunging, this is NOT the rope for you!
End by buckle is looped thru snap. Too bulky
The loop slips thru snap and the rope then thru the loop to attach so you can change snaps if you wish. But too bulky and doesn't make easy or use with natural horsemanship purposes as advertised. Rope is not thick. But thinner like a mini lead rope is. But has popper on end and is not heavy.
Alright lead
This rope is a little longer than a normal lead, and a little shorter than a 'natural horsemanship' lead. For me, it's not quite long enough to use for much ground work or circle exercises.I wish the snap was solid brass. I like that the snap is replaceable, but loop where the snap attaches is bulkier than on a lot of ropes.The rope is woven around a solid core instead of solid all the way through, so it slides and twists, and I think the outer weave will bunch and slide along the core when it gets older. It also feels slimmer than other 5/8 ropes usually feel, and doesn't fit in the hand as well.
Love this lead rope! Very good quality and matches my Weaver halter perfectly.
Great Lead
I ordered one of the leads for my husband and loved it so I ordered 4 more. Great quality very sturdy. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is I would live for it to be 14 ft.

Love this lead so much. It compares to my expensive Parelli one that I have. The snaps are different, but personally I prefer the snap on this lead over the Parelli one. The rope might not be as high of quality, but its close enough. some were saying its not thick enough, I'm pretty sure its the same or similar width to the Parelli lead.Also some said they didn't think it was sturdy enough..... Currently I'm not using this lead as a leadline. Rather a jerry rigged Trace for pulling sleds around with my horse. The white lead in video is my Parelli Leadline and the Black lead is the one I'm currently reviewing. I highly recommend this lead, and actually am about to buy another so that way I can actually use it as a leadline this time since the other one has more important job to hold at the moment.
good lead but has problems
I got this lead rope in the turquoise color and it matched my halter perfectly. i like how you can take the snap off by easily unraveling the end of the lead and than sliding off the snap, which is nice just in case the snap breaks or you want to go change from a regular halter to a rope halter.the problems i have with this lead is that the cloth braided around the lead rope is not actually part of the frame itself like a regular one. it's like they had a cheap frame and they just slid on some cloth to make it look pretty, which makes me think that this lead wont really last me that long.I would trust this lead with my gentle mare, but i doubt it would stand up to a horse that likes to test the strength of their lead, which is why i don't recommend it to everyone.this lead is attractive, but once you get past its beauty, you realize you could of spent your money on something with better quality.
Broke after 3 uses
The snap on this lead rope detached with 3 uses. This was not heavy use, i simply led my horse from the pasture to the barnyard using a halter and this lead rope. I picked the lead rope up to use it again and the snap was no longer attached to the lead. He's never been tied with it and there has been no stress put on this product whatsoever. Poor craftsmanship. The color is beautiful! I ordered the turquoise and it was exactly what I was looking for, but it is useless now.

The color is great, and the length is great. It is also soft enough to easily tie the horse.
I wouldn't recommend
I purchased this lead in red and royal blue. The rope is ok, not quite as thick as I thought it should be, but my guys hardly ever test boundaries, so it is fine for them. If you are planning to use this with a green or unbroke horse, keep looking because this lead will not stand up to that test. The snap appears to be brass in the photos. It is NOT, it is some cheap pot metal painted gold that rusted after hanging in the barn (out of elements!) and now the triggers are frozen shut and have to spray with WD-40 every time I want to use them. I suppose I can buy another snap for $$, but that is not what I expected. Long story short, if you want cheap junk, this is your lead. If you want something nice, keep looking.

Great lead rope! Any where else, you have to pay $20 to get this same lead rope, so i give it a 5 star on the price!! The light blue is such a great/flashy color, and people at the barn were asking me where I got it. It is extremely durably, so I highly recommend it !!!
You get what you pay for
The rope itself is way too small to fit comfortably inside your hand, it needs to be thicker in diameter. The clasp is nice and heavy duty, it's a shame the rope wasn't better. For the cost to send it back and the shipping to purchase another one I might as well keep it.

Nice lead rope for the price
I'm pretty happy with this lead rope. It will make a nice training lead. I recently ordered a similar titled lead on ebay, and this one is much better quality. The bolt snap is heavy and of decent quality. For the price, you can't beat it.

I really like these lead ropes. They are long enough and flexable enough to easily tie. Soft outer fabric. Quality snap. Excellent price. These are the only lead ropes I buy.

I believe that it is a cotton nylon blend. It is a great rope as we have bought several if them.

BEST ANSWER: i was actually a bit disappointed in this. The outside of the rope looks like a nice tight weave. If your horse puts one tooth on it the inside of the rope is crappy loose fiber... Maybe cotton... If your horse or pony doesn't chew on it lead these look beautiful but the don't hold up to my ponies.

It is not stretchy cotton but more like a nylon but not slippery at all or stretchy. I love them. I bought 6 of them and not one pull or mar and perfectly clean.
Not sure. I think it’s nylon. It unites easily when needed. It’s smooth and soft. I only use this rope at the horse shows.
