They are the right length and even room to shorten if need too.
Love them, they are perfect and fit my 16.2 hands tall, lone neck quarter horse perfectly.

Not long enough for a Thoroughbred
I had to find a creative way to extend these. They are too short for my 17.1 Thoroughbred. When just the ends are clipped it is okay for warmup but when you hook it back on itself it puts his head behind the vertical. They are good quality, I just wish they were longer or had the rings in a different spot.

Elastic side reign help train young horses better. Stretches out so the horse will not panic and eventually adjust to the reigns.

Could they fit a small quarter horse. She's 14'2" and small in frame. She's a con size in everything. Will they fit?
A shopper on Mar 21, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I have a small Morgan. She's 14.2 and they work great on her. They are a great price too!
Is it possible that this product could fit a 18.4 hand draft mix?
KaylaT1888 on Apr 27, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Unfortunately they won't. They wouldn't even fit a 16.2 thoroughbred. I had to use them clipped to the bit and the other end clipped to the girth. They were barely long enough then. Quality is good, size is not!
So These Side Reigns Are AdjustableThen??
A shopper on Feb 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: They are adjustable by looping through the girth and clipping onto the various rings but honestly they run super small and I wouldn't recommend getting them if you have a big horse. I have a TB on the small side and I keep them on the longest setting for her.
How do they attach to bridle and saddle?
A shopper on Apr 2, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Clip gets clipped to bit (@ side of mouth where d-ring or circle is) & then adjust opposite end on loosest hole and girth goes tbrough that large loop adjustment. Adjust as needed. This is not something I would recommend to do without supervision the first several times with ANY horse if you havent used them before. The horses mouth wont be ready for the solid pressure of the side reigns and it needs to be very gentle at first and carefully done so the horses mouth doesnt get yanked on when it moves forward and comes up on that pressure.
do these fit a pony?
A shopper on May 7, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes! I don't own a pony but I have an Arabian who is only 15.1 and I only take him to the second loop, they could go a lot shorter.
how do you use the rings to adjust?
kaelyn l on Jun 15, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The rings on the side are easy to use. You feed the end from the D rings on the saddle up though the bit towards the horses head than fold it over the bit and clip it to the desired ring on the side essentially making them shorter. Your inside rein (when going to the left, your left rein and when to the right, your right rein) should be shorter to create bend (1-2 rings)
These are used when lunging with a surcingle or saddle, not to be ridden in :)
I understand these are 47in from tip to tip. What is the longest adjustment when attached?
Dori C on Aug 9, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I have had mine for awhile and they have been a very good piece of equipment. The overall length (including the snaps) is 48”, the longest setting is 36” and the shortest is 31”. I hope this helps.
What is the length of the reins?
A shopper on Sep 7, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Size: 47" from tip to tip, ring section is 9" L x 1" W. Elastic piece is 10" L.
