These boots are awesome! My horse is constantly getting attacked by flies in the summer, but these have helped so much. She is much happier! They fit her great and have held up good so far!

Would give them a 5 except....
The top 2 velcro tabs are longer than the stationary tab so I can't get them to fit as snugly as I'd like. The first pair I had were horse size and not a good fit for him, so this time I dropped down a size (cob?) and the size is perfect except for those top 2 tabs.
On the plus side they really do their job. The stomping has stopped and my horse is happy again. I recommend them.

Cashel is The best!
I have a 14.3 Morgan and bought the arab/small horse size and they fit him perfectly. He wears the leg guards 24 hrs a day from May till November and they usually last 2 years or more.

best leg wraps against flies
I love these. They last forever and since they took the ribbing out of the back, even better )I took it out myself before they changed this design.) They stay up because there is really good/wide velcro, are soft enough to not chafe and really hold up in the wash. I just bought 3 more pairs...

Sizes aren't accurate!
Simply needing leg guards, these did the job, though the sizing was completely off on both of my mares. I have a 16.1 TB and a 14.1 Paint mare, so needless to say, I bought each a pair of these leg guards as per size recommendations. In all honesty, I could have decreased both, down a size or two. Overall quality, they help up decently to the wear and tear my mares put them through, but rotation was definitely an issue.

Should have a reference to fly protection
It fit my Arabian well. It protects against flies. I would recommend that you take them off once a week at least to check for wear against the horse's leg and to examine the leg

Jaime L on Jul 11, 2016
Wanted to try them in an effort to stop using so much fly spray. I hate using such powerful chemicals on my horses if I don't have to.
Kate B on Apr 25, 2016
I hate to see and hear my horses stomping flies as fly spray does not last long enough and in the end is much more expensive. These give them the much needed relief

Katie P on Apr 21, 2014
Absolutely the best fly leg guards; do not droop or drop below the heel and shred like others.Strong velcro closures in the right places.
Michele K on Apr 14, 2014
I have purchased them before. My horse is outside with a herd 24/7. They last pretty much all summer, and are very effective in stopping him from stomping and just make him more comfortable.

I Have an Icelandic horse and don't know what size to but for him, can you help me?
Jan G on Sep 6, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I assume your horse is on the smaller side. I can tell you that for my 16.1 hand warmblood I buy a horse size and that works for front and back on him. For my 16.3 hand warmblood I buy a horse size for the front and warmblood for the rear. Try a cob or pony if he/she is smaller. The velco straps do have elastic in them so they can stretch a little. I love these boots! They work great in Florida with all the biting bugs we have here. Good luck!
Are These for front and rear?
Ami S on May 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: these are a great product - each package contains a pair of left and right leg guards so you need to purchase two of them. I buy them for my 18.2 hand warmblood and they are the best of the ones I have tried.
I have a white horse and need to keep the sun off his legs due to sunburn - will these boots help with that?
Susan C on Sep 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes they should. If you needed total blackout you could always add a layer on the inside to make them totally sun proof.
Can you keep these boots on while riding?
Anniej on Mar 21, 2016
BEST ANSWER: That is a good question! I never have. They can sit pretty low around the hoof. You may end up putting a hole in them. I can tell you they work great though. Mine are still in good condition, minus a small hole in one and I bought two full sets. So I have 8 total My horses are pretty hard on gear. They really help once the flies get going in the summer.
How will I tell sizes Arab from Horse?
Barbara M on Jul 12, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I have a Standardbred that the horse size fits well, however it's big on my smaller paint/quarter cross that has thinner legs. Hope this helps.
I have a standard sized donkey. Will the small pony size be the best to try out?
donkgal on May 21, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I don't know but Satateline Tack is great and can help u... have had these for my horse after trying many others, I think these are totally THE BEST!!!!
What size for my 17.1 h thoroughbred?
A shopper on Jun 28, 2015
BEST ANSWER: We had a 17 hand TB we used the warm blood size boots. They fit well.
is that 26.99 for two or four?
LoisAnn L on Jul 21, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Two. They last about one summer, then they're pretty ratty. But he wears them all day and night. They stay on and keep him from constantly stomping due to the pesty flies. This is my third set. I would recommend.
I need leg guards for my horses' hind legs as well...will these work in a larger size to match the front legs?
A shopper on Jun 16, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I was not happy with the leg guards. They slipped down no matter what I did (and they were the right size), especially the front legs. I won't purchase them again.
Can these be worn 24/7 out in pasture? In mud and water?

Cashel Leg Guards
BEST ANSWER: I am in Florida as well and my QH gelding wears them 24/7 to protect a wrap for summer sore. He is turned out and it stays in place and does a great job. They get covered in mud sometimes but get easily washed off with a hose. But like with everything that involves a horse, I would check daily on it just to make sure everything sits in place.
Can these be used in winter to protect a little from the cold? This is in a daytime paddock setting. If not, what do you recommend during extreme cold snaps? Thank you.
Yvonne on Jan 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The Cashel leg guards are a fine mesh, lightweight and breathable as they are intended for bug protection during hot summer months. They would provide very little protection against the cold, and no windproofing at all.
Perhaps shipping boots would provide the protection you are seeking.
are these made of the same soft mesh as the masks?
hpylegend on May 30, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Kim,
Yes, the leg guards are made of the same material. They stretch after the have been worn for a bit so keep that in mind. The top strap, especially.
I am still using them. I do think they help. Only draw back is that you may go through a few pairs in the coarse of the season.
