Trail riding requires the best fly and bug protection available. I am looking forward to trying the option.

We trail ride. The Cashel mask works really well, so I would like to try the body armor, as well.

My horse has very thin sensitive skin and this product works great. It allows him to focus on his work instead of focusing of the flies that are after him.

My friend had one and I admired how well it protected her horse.

My horses are sensitive to fly spray, hoping this helps.

Have one already and it works great. Doesn't shift at all. Fits my 16 h QH with even a little wiggle room. He doesn't mind it at all. This is for hubby's horse. No more head tossing and jigging. Had a really good, calm trail ride finally!

A fellow hunt member used one of these last year on her pony mare and was pretty happy with it. I made a mental note and now that the bugs are out in full force, I decided I would try it as well. I think it will be perfect for keeping my equine partners happy when we're out for hound exercise, training at home or hitting a new trail =)

one size fits all?
A shopper on Jun 28, 2015
BEST ANSWER: There is only the one size. The only drawback is you have to pull front piece over the head. If you have a very large horse this might be a bit difficult. I would not be without though. It has made allnthe difference in being able to ride during fly seasons. I overall highly recommend this.
What size does this fly sheet come in?
A shopper on Sep 5, 2018
BEST ANSWER: As far as I can tell they are one size fits most. Four of us use the neck pieces only so far and would not ride in Illinois during the summer without them. They are fully adjustable and easy to put on and take off. The flies, mosquitoes, etc., cannot bite through the mesh. All four horses are different heights and sizes but the fit is good on each. It is not a one-piece fly sheet.
Does this fly sheet provide any protection to the tummy and groin? Or will I have to buy the belly guard in addition to the fly sheet?
Jayne U on Jan 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: To be honest, I don't think this is a very good system. I use the neck guard, but it's hard to put on my horse since the top opening is almost too small. What I would really like is a fly guard that covers the neck and the eyes/ears. Deer flies attack the top of the neck where the fly mask and the neck guard won't meet. We used to be able to get them but it seems no one is manufacturing them anymore. I found the tummy/groin piece to be useless. Flies (especially deer flies) get right inside. I don't use it.
Can you use this by itself, without tack holding it in place?
A shopper on Nov 2, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Not really. The neck piece needs to attach to the top of the bridle in order not to slide down the neck and the part of the neck piece needs to be attached to the saddle pommel, as well. It is the same for the back piece. It needs to be attached to the cantel in order to stay in place. If you were thinking of using it alone in the pasture or paddock, it is my belief that it is too fine for that. You wouldn't want your horse rolling in this.

I use mine for my driving horse. Most often just the neck piece with the Cashel sheer face mask.

Hope this helps.

Can I buy just the front piece of the quite ride bug armor?. Only one piece?
Sonja C on Sep 2, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Hi Sonja, I'm not sure if you can buy the front piece only, but I have been using the whole thing on my 25 year old Quarter Horse gelding when we trail ride, and he seems much more relaxed, with not having to worry about the horse flies.
I hope this helped. Good luck
Hi there.
I'm keen on the bug armour. I live in a hot climate. Does it stay cool underneath? and what material is over the loin area?
linda on Dec 28, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Though our climate is not hot year round, the summer is very hot and humid. My horse has gotten very sweaty under many bug sheets. He has stayed cool under this, even during rides over an hour. The material over the loins is the same--soft, not scratchy. My only warning is that both pieces are on the small side, it slips off his butt and doesn't cover his whole neck when secured on bridle. My horse is only 16 hands. It does its job with adjusting. Good luck!
what is the fabric made of?
A shopper on Jul 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The fabric is netting like used for bug screens on a tent. Very soft and it flows well when the horse moves. My horses love the Bug Armor as it gives them the ability to relax when they are ridden.
Can this be used with western saddles? Looks like it may hang off the back to far if attached to the rear of a western saddle.
MARK G on May 30, 2017
BEST ANSWER: We use it with a Dressage Saddle but I think it will also work with a Western Saddle, it works great!
I trail ride in my dressage saddle. Will this work with a dressage saddle?
A shopper on Jun 30, 2015
BEST ANSWER: As long as your saddle has those little rings on each side so you can tie the net onto it. If you don't have those rings you might get by tying the strings to the pommel rings very loosely. The strings look like long shoelaces and they are plenty long enough to reach the pommel. Hope this helped answer your question. I love this sheet because it is big enough for a warmblood and stays put with a tail strap that slips under the tail..
