It seems like a good quality product.
I wanted one that could be worn for extended periods of time and this one is limited to only a few hours of wear. So it didn't meet my needs but it would be good for someone that wants it for trailering.

Not impressed.
First of all the product is not the one in this picture. Second, nowhere in the information given does it say "4-5 hour use" but it does however on the packaging after you buy it. I trust the Cashel brand for quality which is why I chose to buy this product over others even though the information given was vague. My horse is boarded and I have no way of knowing if it is taken on and off like it should be so it is not practical. Unless the intentions for this product are occasional use only I do not recommend it.

Love It!
This tail guard is great. It stays in place and doesn't bother my horse. I use it on my gelding who rubs his tail against the trailer door. since Ive been using this his tail is finally growing back. the only complaint i have is the cashel logo tag isn't on the Velcro like in the picture. mine is on the very top so its ripped and he has worn a hole into the tail guard after one use. it still works but im worried eventually it will break and he will rub his tail again.

Its good!
I use this on my mare who suffers from sweet itch to keep her from rubbing her tail off, she wears it from sun up to down while shes turned out and she keeps it on it has really good grip.

My thoroughbred was rubbing the top of his tail raw during the winter months. I tried this, but he rubbed it off too!

During the summer months, my horse will rub his tail to relieve itching caused by heat and insects. This product looks like it may protect his tail

Will this work on a miniature horse?
Barbara S on Nov 7, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I don't have minis, but technically it probably would. The Velcro strip isn't very wide, but it should overlap enough to stay on. However, I think the overlapping would be irritating to the mini since it probably won't sit flat...
My Mare has that short hairs at the top of her tail from rubbing. Will this help from those hairs from breaking when she rubs her tail and Since it is summer we go to a lot of shows spend 8-11 hours on road can I put this on her in the trailer too?
deelover on Jun 21, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hi, I bought one of these for my mare, same problem with tail rubbing. I used it on her in stall overnight. Unfortunately, my mare still rubbed and the tail shield did not stay in place. She is a gypsy vanner with a very thick tail so fit may have been an issue. Also tried vet wrap but she got that off too!
