Ok but not great
Ok casting but not tight at the seam. It would be nicer if it was cast as one piece

Nice horse head cast with oval mounting hole (not at all round!)
The cast horse head hitches are handsome. They are heavy, the paint is even, and seems to be put together well. The only concern is the oval mounting hole. I will probably use 1.5" galvanized pipe to mount the head, since the head slips into it and I am only decorating with it. I have no idea how you would permanently attach the horse head to a pole for use as an actual hitch since the mounting hole is so oval.

Decorative Hitching Post Head
This is 8" tall by 7" wide and we used a piece of an old flagpole and spray painted it matte black to match. The post fit snug inside of the head and we buried it about 6" down. It's wonderful and exactly what we wanted for the end of the walkway. It is definitely decorative only. I doubt it would actually hold a horse!

Cast Iron Horse Head Hitching post
This head looks just like my antique one that was stolen from my yard. Now I must find the right post to attach it to. Its is durable but I have not figured out how to attach it to a post so it will not pull off. I will spray it with Rust Oleum for a heavier coat of paint. Looks like it could benefit from it. This head is heavy, .

Decorative only
This is a decorative horse head "hitching post". Picture makes it look like it may wall mount. It does not. Hole in bottom is uneven and has no way to secure on top of post so could not be used for a horse.

I have looked everywhere for 2 of these and the cheapest I could find anywhere was well what I wanted to pay, State line tack had the best price anywhere.

Can this stand on its own on a table for display?
A shopper on May 30, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I just received this horse head today and I love it. It does stand on its own thanks to all who answered. But I feel it needs some sort of base for a finished look. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what I could use? Thanks
What is the diameter of each nostril? I am going to use it as an exhaust tip on stack exhaust on my truck. I would be drilling holes in the ears and both nostrils. And I need to make sure that all holes combined meet a certain diameter for the exhaust to escape properly.

BEST ANSWER: Thank you to all that got back to me. I guess I'll have to keep looking for a bigger one. It sucks not having a store I can go to that sells them in my area. And if I could find 2 at an antique shop they'll want to much. I've seen bigger antique ones on Craigslist go for over 120 for just one. If I can't find one I'll just do my huge cal hollow point bullet stack design. Thank you again.
what size is this head?
A shopper on Nov 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The head is 8" tall from the top of the ears and 7" wide. We love it. We used part of an old flagpole post that fit perfectly and then painted it black to match.
do you carry this in plastic and a little smaller?do you have different sizes in plastic
A shopper on Jun 21, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I'm sorry, we do not.
