Love Cavallo boots
Bought these for a mare that is just starting out to the trail. I have a set of Cavallo Sport boots for my other mare. Stella has worn the sport boots twice a week on the trail, I’ve had them about six years and there is still plenty of tread.

Great boots easy to put on. I wrap pastern with vet wrap when I go on a long trail ride. This eliminates any possible chafing.

Great Boot
I have a 20 year old QH gelding that is flat footed and developed problems with sensitivity the past 2 years. I tried shoes with pads and still had problems riding on the gravel. I purchased these late in the season and he did very well. I don't know how they will hold up as I have not had them long but I'm pleased so far. They are light weight and easy to put on.

Exactly what I needed, but expensive.
I love these ordered a pair for my dads trail horse a Thoroughbred with sensitive feet and they seem to work well for him, he also over reaches and they really help protect his heel. He was easy to size, I then ordered a pair for my Arabianxapp and her feet where very close between a 1/2 I figured she'd fit the 1 since she wasn't that close to the 2 and ordered them. A week later I get them try them on and they just barely don't fit, exchanging them has been so frustrating. Stateline was very nice but it cost close to 20$ just to ship back and then I'm looking at two weeks before I get the new size. I would highly suggest making sure the size is correct asking questions if hard to determine before ordering so you don't have to deal with returning them.

Great quality
Great quality product and very easy to use.will buy another pair for the rear.

good but pricey
I bought several kinds of Cavallo boots for trail riding my barefoot horses over very rocky terrain. The other one was the ELB. These worked well and I have no complaints about the quality but the other boot did just as well for half the price.

Nice fit
I have old macs and boa boots, but they are much bulkier than the Cavallo Treks. I purchased these boots for two driving ponies, that have very round feet. Equal widths and lengths. These are a great fit on their rounder feet, and super easy on/ off.

Sturdy, easy on and off, yet stays in place.
Half way through a 4 hr. trail ride recently, my horse threw a shoe. Another rider had this boot in her pommel bag and put it on my horse. Although it was one size larger than needed, she added a baby diaper with vetrap before putting on the boot. My horse trotted off sound and I was able to finish the ride - astride! Ordered the boot the next day for my horse.

Easy to put on, very well made! Also very durable
My horse is barefoot and she started to limp. Put the boots on and she doesn't limp with the boots. Also went camping and one of the horses had a pair of boots on. The trail went trough quick mud and the boots stayed on.

I have an off the track thoroughbred rescue who has bad hooves. These are the only boots I can use on him to keep him from pulling shoes while we are correcting his feet. Lifesaver!

I ordered this for my big mare with front feet lameness and this really helped so ordered another set for my smaller kids horse who is sensitive to rocks on the road. Great product!
Sheri B on Jun 4, 2015
My mare is more comfortable walking on hard surfaces, such as gravel driveway. When ordering this product, make sure you order a pair as the price is for 1 boot only.

I use this boot on all the horses. For me of all the Cavallo styles, this Trek works the best, fits the best with turn out or driving or riding. It is easier for me to remove and I like how nicely they wash if they become saturated with mud. Cavallo even gives you extra velcro with them which I love because I have a horse who plays with the straps. they don't twist or shift. It's a very nice design.

Is this a pair or just 1boot?
Valerie L on Jan 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hello Valerie, the trek is sold singly, not as a pair. They are pricey, but well worth the investment. I have all of the Cavallo models for various horses here at the sanctuary/rescue. The Trek is the best model for wear, protection and non movement on horses that do not have perfect movement, i.e. pigeon toed and other issues. They do not twist. I use them on driving horses with pad inserts on the roads and they stay in place with great protection for collapsed heals and old brusing. A wonderful boot.
Is his one or two?
A shopper on Nov 30, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I don't understand the question. Did you mean to ask 'Is THIS one or two'? If that is the question, the package has ONE boot.. so the price shown is for one boot.
My horse is right on the line between size 2 and 3. Has any one had this situation and what fit the best?
A shopper on Nov 16, 2014
BEST ANSWER: If your horse is truly between a 2 and 3 with trimmed feet, then it would be advisable to use the 3 with pads. It seems that there could be "play" of the hoof in the boot if the excess sizing is not tightened with a pad insert.
can these boots be used on a horse with shoes?
lisa g on Aug 21, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Per Cavallo: Many people do indeed use Cavallo Boots in combination with metal shoes. The Cavallo Boot TPU (thermo plastic urethane) sole can assist in absorbing the shock and resulting vibration up the horse’s structure and prevent bruising while transporting your horse or working on hard surfaces. Cavallo cannot guarantee that the boots will hold up over prolonged use, to the force of metal, protruding nails or sharp edges and thus the warranty is void with this useage. Extending the life of your Boots can be accomplished by using an insole of thick leather or foam padding which will decrease the direct wear on the sole of the boot. You can replace the pads when they appear to be wearing and thereby lengthen the life of the sole of your boots.
How do I know what size?
Judy M on Nov 20, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Cavallo offers a carefully designed hoof measure chart on their site. They offer how to measure instructions with a corresponding chart to make certain that you order the correct size.
Is this price ($79) per boot or for all four boots?
Bill R on Oct 9, 2014
BEST ANSWER: The $79.00 price is for one boot.
Do you have to use 4 of them, front and back?
Liane S on Mar 25, 2016
You do not have to use 4 boots. My horses only wear two for the fronts only. The front of the horse bares 80% of their you the rider. So it is important to protect the fronts.
Riding terrain also comes into question. I have never used four boots but if I were going to ride the Rockies or on large gravel pathways then I may consider it depending on my horses soles and hoof conditions. I hope this helps you out. Over twenty years of riding even in tough terrain n I have never needed all four feet covered.
How do these hoof boots work for turn out in the mud? WIll they keep the hoof dry?
A shopper on Aug 24, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I have only used these boots for trail riding during which they have traveled through a lake and mud and stayed put without rubbing, j love them.i wouldn't want to keep them on my horses daily for a long time their heel bulbs would probably get sore. Deep mud could seep down the sides and cause problems. I have a washed sand system that has cured my mud problems.
How do I measure my horses' foot to know what size to order?
Doris W on Aug 17, 2015
BEST ANSWER: If you go to Cavallo's website, they have a page you can print out and instructions on how to measure with that page. Basically, you pick up the hoof like you're cleaning it, but hold the paper against the hoof instead. The page has measurements on it. You measure both length and width in inches, then there is a conversion chart that shows you what size to buy. Bear in mind that front hooves are usually bigger than hind feet. Good luck!
is this for a pair?
A shopper on Nov 13, 2014
BEST ANSWER: The Trek boot is sold individually. The boot is designed where you can use it on either side. I use them at the Sanctuary/Rescue and personally prefer them to all the other designs that Cavallo offers. I have all the models. I finds that the Trek fits the best, wears the best, does not become warped in soggy footing. I use them every day and find that if I have to wash them, they dry quicker than the other models. Great fit, great protection even when I am driving a horse on the road. I have pads for the soles and they are sold separately. Pricey, yes, but for the sanctuary/rescue worth every penny.
My horse's hoof measures 5" wide by 4 3/4" long. What size do I order?
A shopper on May 18, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It seems like your horse could be a Size 2 or 3 Regular Trek. Are these measurements for his front feet and were the feet measured right after a trim? Most horses have larger feet in front, so maybe order the Size 2 and if it's too snug for the front, they will at least fit his back feet. Then you know to order the Size 3's for the front.
Can i use these to help prevent iceballs on my barefoot pony?
debbie m on Feb 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It will protect the area from snow and ice, however these are for a horse not a pony.
I live in Arizona with sandy, rocky and mountainous terrain, is the Trek best for this type of terrain or the Cavallo Simple boot a better option?

Cavallo Simple Regular Sole Hoof Boots
BEST ANSWER: Cavallo Trek Hoof Boots are the newest addition to our hoof boot collection. Their honeycomb design maximizes strength and minimizes weight for the comfortable performance your horse deserves.

SIMPLE Boot is the Multi-Purpose Hoof Boot, excellent for protecting your horse’s hooves on hard, rough terrain. The ultimate protection for the barefoot horse. Great for comfort for chronic pain or hoof sensitivity; rehabilitation from injuries, abscesses, navicular disease, laminitis / founder, punctures, sole bruising and contracted heels. Can be used for protection during trailering and breeding or taken on the trail as a “spare tire” for lost shoes.

Both the Trek and SIMPLE boots feature All-terrain tread which minimizes build-up of mud, sand and debris. Both also provide excellent traction while still allowing natural movement.
I measured my horses feet and came up with size 7 which you do not carry. Will a size 6 work? If I try size 6 and they don't fit can I return for a full refund? Thanks Peg Smith
A shopper on Feb 4, 2016
BEST ANSWER: We find that usually a smaller size doesn't work in most situations.
