This is a great price for a solution when having to connect a few extension cords in order to reach animals that are some distance from an electrical outlet. I discovered that these heated water containers say do not use an extension cord primarily because of the potential of water at the connection . These water tight cord locks are a blessing and economical because my alpacas are a couple hundred feed away from an electrical outlet.

These came up as suggested purchases to my main purchase. If you are buying a trough heater then these are pretty much a must have and I didnt have any. So bought em. Oh and I doubled checked, State Line has the best price on these. Even better then Amazon.

We have a few extension cords that are exposed to the weather year round, under snow in the winter. We've never had a problem with water getting into the connections, but time to stop taking chances and tempting fate.
Diane R on Sep 27, 2018
Have used these forever under crazy conditions (even under water when yard flooded). They just work!

dawn f on Jan 21, 2014
Hoping this device works as well as what I currently do to keep rain out of connections.
Currently I take a zip lock bag and cut a hole in it to pass the cord through.
Then I duck tape the bag closed around the extension cords.
Linda M on Jan 20, 2014

I want to keep outside cords protected from the weather.
Brandi A on Jan 14, 2019
Is this cover big enough to cover the normal outdoor 3 prong (grounded) plugs on both ends of the connection? I always use a grounded, exterior quality cord, and that is plugged into a GFIC outlet. But, the picture seems to show a much smaller 2 prong cord.
Lynda L on Feb 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I got one of these but never did use it as my extension cord had a 3 outlet end! I have heard however from other people with single end ones that they absolutely love them. Hope it works out for you.
