I did a lot of research before making this purchase. We had historical highs in rain this season, and the consequential mosquitoes are driving the horses crazy. According to what I've read, this should be of magnificent help to them, keeping the stalls bug free so they can have a place to relax. Hopefully the results will be successful!

Needed additional sprayer and this product rocks. Have more success than my friend with built in fly sprayers. They always complained that their expensive installed sprayers clogged up. My just keep on spraying. Batteries last for an average of 1.5 seasons.
Kimberly N on May 14, 2018
We use these in every enclosed building on the property. They really work, and the pyrethrin is safe for other animals and people - even approved for use in commercial kitchens.

Have 2 of these already but needed another one.
Kimbec on Oct 27, 2017
I purchase this as a replacement for the metered country vet fly spray control kit. The best $7-8 monthly purchase I've made all summer to help keep the flies down. I bought 2 of the control kits and flies have been 75% better this summer vs. last and we've even had hotter weather. Individual refill bottles last ~1 month.

Fly season in the low desert is horrendous every year. We bought a new home and finally remembered I had this product 4 years ago in my last home.
AMAZING stuff. Works perfectly and we can enjoy sitting out on the patio again. Actually drink morning coffee, afternoon beverages and even dinner....NO FLIES!!!! Trust me.....IT'S WORTH EVERY PENNY. You're welcome.
Teresa G on Jul 13, 2016
I've used these units for 20 years. Keeps bugs out of the feed room and my garage. This year I'm going to put them in my horses' stalls also. Your biggest concern is keeping on top of the batteries. Don't let them go bad inside this unit, or they will damage the wiring and render the unit inoperable. But that's pretty much the case with any battery operated item.

what are the 3000 and 9000 settings for on the new dispenser?
timmer on Jul 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Country Vet advises us that those settings are for how many sprays will be dispensed. The current refill cans are for 30 days and 3000 sprays. Country Vet is working on refills that will be for 90 days and 9000 sprays -- they are not yet available.
If used in a box stall (12x16) does the spray that potentially gets on feed or to the water affect the horses health?
Whitney V on Jun 10, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No. This product has been approved for use in food processing plants and dairies. Don't place it directly over the feeder and I place it pointing away from feeder. I have found it works well placed over the inside door pointing to the outside door. It keeps the flies from entering the stall from the inside and then keeps those that have entered from hovering in the center of the stall. They may fly to the side walls but they don't live long.
What is the difference in settings between 3000 and 9000?
Theresa G on Nov 15, 2016
BEST ANSWER: That would be the duration of each individual spray that goes off every 15 minutes. @ 3000 the spray duration would be shorter and the can of spray would last slightly over one month. With 9000 the spray duration would be longer and dispense more spray to cover the larger area and the can would last just under a month. As a rule I keep mine set for 3000. That's plenty. Hope that helps.
Will this product also work well in a kennel to control fleas?
Patricia N on Jul 30, 2015
BEST ANSWER: KILLS: Flies, Mosquitoes, Gnats and Small Flying Moths.
FOR USE IN: farms, dairies, barns, kennels, milk and egg handling areas of dairies and chicken houses.
Can this be used in a restraunt?
A shopper on Nov 18, 2016
The package says to keep away from food stuff. You don't wan't to be in an area where you are constantly breathing it or could get it on food. Best in open space like a barn or at the entrance to a building.
How many square feet does this cover?
A shopper on Jun 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I use one in each of my 12x12 stalls. It does not totally get rid of the flies but keeps their numbers down. I also have 3 in my 32x12 run in sheds. That is where I see the biggest difference. Hope this helps.
Is this product safe for chicken coops?
Jennifer C on Jul 30, 2016
BEST ANSWER: We use these in a horse stable. I do not know if they are safe for a chicken coop. You need to make sure they do not spray on the animals, water source or food. In the barn we have them attached on the wall in the back of each stall at the top of each stall
how to buy refills?
A shopper on Jul 5, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I buy refills in a 12 pack to save money, but you can buy them individually. They are easy to find. Just make sure they are the right size for the dispenser you have. Dispensers come in different sizes. If you are a first time user of this product, I think you will be surprised at how well it works. These are a staple of fly and mosquito control in our barn. Pests disappear after just a minute or two of use! Love this product.
Can I use this in my backyard? farm..just a million flys from nearby farms
Gracie on Sep 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It works best in an area enclosed by at least three sides. It won't do much in an open yard space. It sprays out a pyrethrin jet every hour or so. It would not be effective at killing massive flies from a nearby farm unless you're using it in an enclosed area. Fly traps would be more effective for that!
Is this something that needs to be sprayed constantly or is it a one time spray or a device?
A shopper on May 26, 2019
BEST ANSWER: This device is battery operated. It does last a long time though because it does not spray constantly. It is on a timer and sprays periodically. And they work great and you can hang them just about anywhere. I have one in every stall. I also have several hanging in my run in sheds for my pasture horses. They do a great job at controlling flies in those enclosed areas.
I feed cats on my front porch will the spray harm them?
Michael M on May 24, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I have used these dispensers near cat food, rabbit feed and drinking water without any issues. I do not have them spraying directly on these though. Probably within 5 feet.
Can the dispenser be placed in an area/ stall where a mare and foal are kept?
Mary S on Apr 2, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The fragrance can be a bit strong and the active ingredients are not meant to be ingested. I would put it just outside of the stall. You don't want the spray coming into contact with water, hay or feed.
How long does a can last?
A shopper on May 9, 2019
BEST ANSWER: It depends on whether you use it just during the day, or leave it on 24/7. I leave mine on, and it lasts about a month. I’ve been using the Country Vet auto fly sprayer for years, and my horses love it, too! One of my guys actually lets me know when the can has run out - he stands under it and tosses his head! You can smell the spray faintly when you go into the area where it’s located and it has just sprayed, but I sometimes forget how long ago I replaced the can, and since the smell dissipates I depend on my horse letting me know!
Does this repel wasps?
A shopper on Aug 20, 2018
BEST ANSWER: No, it kills flies, mosquitoes, gnats, & small flying moths.
how large an open barn area will one unit effectively control flies?
KAREN O on May 25, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I use 2 in my barn. I have a 4 stall barn with a 12 Ft breezeway - stalls are 12x12 The barn open on both ends. Keeps flies down ok
Does this kill mosquitoes?
R H on May 2, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I'm not seeing a lot of dead flies or mosquitoes - I think they divert away as soon as they smell the product. All I care about is not being eaten alive by the mosquitoes, and this works.
Does this product work for horseflies as well as just the common fly? I have tried traps, but they are ineffective.
E B on Apr 1, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I would say doubtful for horseflies, it's not even that effective in the stalls to keep the fly population at bay.
Would this be safe on 2-walled porch where people often sit? In other words, how toxic is this if breathed in?
A shopper on Jul 10, 2019

Please look over the directions for use. Do not install directly above or within 12 feet of any food handling or dispensing area.
Will this work I have fields behind my back yard and have thousands of flies having a Wedding in two weeks ??
Carrie P on May 28, 2019
BEST ANSWER: They work great in a stall or barn but in an open area it wouldn’t do much if it doesn’t do anything at all.

BEST ANSWER: Pyrethrins
