Just tried this for our long-haired pooch and it DOES work like MAGIC. The product coats his hair and loosens his mats for easy comb outs. Wish I had known about this sooner!

Best stuff EVER!
I own a grooming spa + have tried a ton of products that claim to remove mats + tangles. By far this works the best + does not leave a greasy feel or scent. We could not live without this at my spa!

Another Cowboy Magic
This is the right product for manes and tails. Grooming wet or dry, it conditions the hair while relaxing tangles. Cowboy Magic is kept in good supply for grooming here. It is hard to squeeze out, but you do not need much and that could be a positive factor to prevent waste. Super product.

Amazing
I don't even use conditioner when i bathe- it's an extra step in a process my gelding already hates. He's grey, so I have to wash him twice anyway. But I skip conditioning with regular conditioner and just add the detangler. I work it thru pretty well. Then the next day his mane and tail comb right out. I have a bay with a loooooooooong mane and thick tail- when I bathed him a couple weeks ago, I used this to detangle the fairy knots he gets. It took about a half hour to get them out. I added more after to keep it from getting tangled and he's been tangle free since. I do use my fingers daily to keep his mane from tangling, but I feel this product makes it that much easier.

The BEST on Wyoming wind tangled manes
I live in the windiest part of Wyoming and it sure does a number on my horses manes and tails. I've used detanglers that are sticky or too watered down but this stuff is a God send. I have two little feedlot rescue colts with dredlocked manes and tails. I wanted to be able to work through them for the first time without too much fuss. I picked this up at TSC and will now always keep it in my tack room. I was able to brush through each horses mane and tail in a fraction of the time it usually takes with no fuss and no breakage. Their manes and tails we're all shiny and soft and stayed untangled. What was left over on my hands made my hair smell and feel great too!! BUY THIS.

It cannot get better than Cowboy Magic Detangler.
We just cannot get rid of burdock on our ranch. We have 124 acres and a lot of wooded areas. Too much burdock. As much as we get rid of, the horses always seem to find the stalks we've missed. Cowboy Magic is a necessity on our ranch. It is a GREAT product!

This product is awesome . A little goes along way unless you have a horse like mine who has a super thick tail . Pour some of this liquid in your hand and rub into tail and mane. So great for getting tangles out . My horse loves to go into the woods and when he comes out his mane, forelock and tail are FULL of burrs and this product is a life saver on getting them out without ripping all his hair out !!! Smells good too :-)

It works
I love this product. I had heard it's great, so I thought I'd try it. I put a small amount on the palm of my hand and run it through his mane and tail. I prefer to use my spray de-tangler before brushing, then use this product after. It really does leave his hair soft and Shiney.
Love it. Wouldn't buy anything else.
Your price is a bit high. When other tack places on line have a sale, its cheaper to buy from them. Just ordered 2 more else where on line, as the price was much cheaper.

How do you apply this product?
BEST ANSWER: I don't bathe my horses, rain takes care of that chore for me. So I just squeeze a bead from the forelock to the withers and comb hit it with a comb. If there are tangles and/or burrs, I apply a good squeeze work it in, and let it soak in. Same with the tail, although I tend to put extra on the ends. My mare gets split ends on her tail. My gelding (who just had his fifth birthday today) has a mane and tail that could just as well be made of steel wire.

I love this stuff. A little goes a long way. I squeeze some out in the palm of my hand, rub my hands together and run it through my horse's damp clean tail and main and comb through. Once, as a newby, I put it all over my horses coat in the fall. He looked absolutely beautiful throughout the winter, but it made the saddle area too slippery. Won't do that again.
I use Cowboy Magic on a regular basis. Love it! I simply put a small amount in my hand, rub my hand together then rub my hands and fingers throughout the mane and tail. I usually do not need more than one application per area. A little goes a long way.
I use my cowboy magic to loosen & brush mats from my Maltese coats. I just put a 2-3 drops in my hand & break it up by rubbing my hands together& & then apply where needed. Great stuff!
I put a quarter or dime size spot on my hand and rub both hands together, I then work it a mane or tail. I do not use it on the body, it is to slick.
I usually apply it to the mane/tail after washing and while still damp. Just squeeze small amount into your hands and rub into mane/tail
Pour a little in your palm and then work it into the tail before brushing. If you have a big tail may require a couple of doses.
I just squirt a little puddle in my hand - rub my hands together and message it in! Love the smell and it lasts for days!
Put a little on your hands, rub them together, and work the product through the tail or massage it into the body area.
I used it on my dog and put some on my hands and massaged it through his coat. Awesome product!
LIke lotion. Squirt onto your hands and massage it in.

Is this something i could put in a spray bottle and spray on?
BEST ANSWER: I don't think it would spray well - it's roughly the consistency/viscosity of dishwashing liquid like Dawn or Palmolive. I do very highly recommend this product, though! It's wonderful. Best method I have found to apply it is to drizzle about a teaspoon or two over a brush like this style: http://www.statelinetack.com/item/roma-soft-touch-mane-and-tail-brush/E005679/ (or similar style human brush at the dollar store) and work it through as you brush. You don't have to wash it off the brush, just leave it on there and reapply a little more once a week. (I tuck the brush in a Ziplock bag for storage) It's very cost-effective used this way too, you get several brushings out of every reapplication. LOVE this stuff!!!

I've never tried to put it in a spray bottle. It's meant for mane and tail and I think it would clog a spray bottle. I rub it in my hands then rub it into the mane/tail while finger brushing, then I use a brush. I've used Cowboy Magic for 20 years and haven't found anything better!
No....I tried it with several spray bottles.....it was too thick to spray. So, I reasoned....add some water and thin it out.....THAT did NOT work at all! In fact, adding the water made it thicker! Just use your hands or a brush....works like magic.
This isn't like show sheen -- which is very watery and can be sprayed on. This is a thicker slippery feeling liquid. I put a dime size amount in my hand and then rub it into the tail every day, then brush.
I would say no, the consistency of it wouldn't really work for that. It's a thicker, almost oily consistency. Works best just rubbed in and combed through with your fingers.
Unfortunately no... it's consistency is like gel. It works and smells amazing however!
I'm pretty sure u could. You don't need to use much of it. Products is amazing!
I doubt it, it is about the consistency of baby oil, maybe a little heavier
No...thick...nice gel...works like 'Magic'...worth every overpriced penny!
It's a thick clear gel. I've never tried adding water to it to spray.
No, it's too thick...it's like a cream rinse.

Can this be used on dogs?
BEST ANSWER: It sure can be used on dogs. I have 10 and among those 10 dogs there are 3 Newfoundlands, a border collie and a Collie, all of which have long hair that knots easily. I use either the cowboy magic or trophy line manely long hair. Both do a fabulous job. My daughter even uses a tiny bit on her own hair because it conditions and shines. She has jet black hair and when she puts it in her hair you could almost see your reflection.

Yes, I use it on my Belgian Malinois and Pitt Bulls. My dogs always come in the stall with me to be brushed when I brush my horse. Makes the dogs and horse glisten, soft and smell good. I love this product and also use it in my hair.

Can you use this on people?
BEST ANSWER: Yep! I rub a dime size amount through my wet hair (mainly ends) everyday before drying it. It's my favorite smoothing serum and far cheaper than the made for people kind! Used in small amounts it isn't greasy at all, just gives soft, smooth hair.

Does it work on dogs?

BEST ANSWER: Yes, it does also work on dogs but remember, a little goes a long way and consider the type of coat your dog has. I rub a bit (dime sized) into my palms and slick it over my dobbie/hound's short coat and he gleams! My heelers just need a smidge; first in my palms (1/2 of what the hound uses) then I pull a dandy brush over my palm and then brush over the dogs' coats. Whatever is left in my palms rub lightly over face and tails. My friend uses it on her golden and it works well on him too.

Works wonderful on my horses mane and tail. My horses tail is dry but when I apply Cowboy Magic it softens it. Definitely helps with detangling.
I've only used it on a horse's tail. Are you really asking "is it safe to use on dogs"? The cowboymagic web site suggests it might be ok.
I would use this on my dog. I have used it on my own hair and my daughters, it works very well.
Sure! You can even use it on your own hair. A little goes a long way though.

BEST ANSWER: Yes, this is a great product to use on any animal. It makes their coat shiny and easy to comb.
I use it on the horses mane and tail. It comes out like a thin gel and then I do a light stream over her hair and then it blends in when I start combing. You might have to put a small amount in your hand and then rub it over the dogs coat. Not sure about safety wise because the horse doesn't lick their tail or mane so I would be a little worried about the dog licking and eating this stuff, It works great for detangling the horse hair though,
I never have used it on my dogs.I don't know why not It is a fine product for my equines and I have used it for years. Sometimes products will state if something can be used on other animals. I would use it very sparingly on your dog because it is a little oily.
Good question, can you? I've only used it on my horses.

Can it be diluted so it can be sprayed o n? Will it cause my daughter's hair to fall out?
BEST ANSWER: Since it's a medium weight oil, I would say no to dilution-spray. As for your daughter I personally would use very little on wet hair. It does wonders for my horses. There main and tails are so different than ours ? ...
The detangler & shine indicates that it has been tested on humans only.

It doesn't dilute well because it deprecated since it's a oil consistency but no it doesn't cause hair to fall out. On many occasions I'm guilty of using it when I'm out of hair serum.
There are so many fine products for human hair. Much too oily for humans but great for my horses .
