Product Summary:

After an energetic ride you may notice an unequal sweat pattern. This could indicate there is an area where the saddle is not equally distributing the weight, causing unequal pressure on the animal’s back. You can add or subtract felt shims to help alleviate the pressure, creating a more comfortable ride for your horse. The Pressure Relief Pad has a durable cotton duck top with a 1” Wool felt bottom. The pockets contain 1/2” Wool felt shims, which can be removed to better fit your saddle.

My horse galls and needs a great saddle fit. The combination of a wool pad and shims makes that possible.

Is this pad 1/2" or 1" thick?

Yes pad is 1" thick. I used 2 shim pads on each side at the wither to raise my saddles pommel 1", 1 shim pad on each side for center and none in the back. Helped fit a Wade saddle to my gaited horse

I have what has been called a "downhill" horse...his back end is higher then his withers, having a hard time finding a saddle to fit since they all tilt (down towards withers) someone suggested I try a western pad with pockets for shims...I'm wondering if this pad will work????
A shopper on Oct 20, 2016
Best Answer: Diamond Wool Pressure Relief Pads and Contoured Relief Pad offer the flexibility you need to fit any horse. They are all around work pads that have shims to help with saddle fit problems. The removable shims that go the length of the pad can be added or removed from 6 pockets. The front shims can help with high withers. The middle shims can help with sway back and the rear shims can be removed if not needed.
We also make a pad that is built-up in the front. This pad is not adjustable but offers extra padding throughout the wither area.

I have a horse that has high withers and a sway back, would this be a good pad for him?
Debbie M on Mar 10, 2016
Best Answer: The Pressure Relief Pad is designed to fit a variety of horses and saddles. The shims are removable and additional sets can be purchased when more padding is needed. This front shim will help with the high withers and the middle shim can fill in a swayed back.
