I own a brown pair that I've had for 3 years now and they're still in great shape. I decided to add the black to my wardrobe.

I loved my Dublin River Plaid boots (but my puppy did too and ate one of them!), so I needed to replace them. Love the fit, the all day foot comfort and how dry it keeps my feet in even the wettest conditions. Comfortable to ride and work on the ground in. My go-to boot now.
Lara B on Jul 3, 2018
From reviews, pricing and wearability seemed like a good choice for my preteen who is just starting to ride and can get use out of these, even when she is not riding.
Meredith May J on Jun 27, 2018
I have a pair already and love it. Time to replace :)

I already have them in brown and needed black to allow me to use with work attire in snowy conditions. They are wonderfully made and look stunning. I get compliments on the brown ones all the time.

I wear a 7 shoe sometimes a 7/12 what would you recvommend?
Debbie E on Feb 23, 2016
BEST ANSWER: These boots fit pretty true to size. I am the same and wear a 7 to 7 1/2. I ordered a 7 and they fit great. If you are going to be wearing fairly thick socks then you may want the 7 1/2. I don't wear thick socks because I am in the south and it doesn't get that cold. These boots are wonderful. They were comfortable from the day I got them with no breaking in period.
Will these boots wear on an English saddle? I don't want them to cause damage to my daughter's CWD saddle.
A shopper on Nov 30, 2015
BEST ANSWER: They would not wear more on an English saddle any more than other tall boots, but you may find them too bulky to use in the stirrups. If you do ride in them, please consider changing to wider stirrups for your safety.
Need a size 9. When will you have them in? And, would the 25% offer still apply? Thanks!
A shopper on Dec 6, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Size 9 is now currently in stock. This item has limited discounting available from the manufacturer.
do they zip?
SHARIE F on Aug 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No they do not have a zipper. They are loose enough in the upper to slide your foot into; you can also use a boot horn to help ease them on as well. They are not baggy at all but they do not fit close like English style riding boots. If you are looking to wear them at shows, they may not be your best option but if you want a nice, all around pair of riding boots, that can take getting wet, muddy or mucky, and with a rinse come out still looking great, then these are a good choice.
How comfortable are these boots for walking in the city? One of the questions I read said, the black boots run smaller than the brown. Is this true?
Lisa R on Jan 3, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I honestly do not know whether the black run smaller than the brown, although can't imagine why boot color would effect size in manufacture. That said, according to my wife she typically wears a size 7 US (Euro 37.5), which these are, and they fit perfectly (she usually wears a mid-weight sock for Winter). She cautioned that due to her high arch these can be a bit tougher to slip on than her Tuffa's, but not difficult. She said once on they are super comfortable for walking around (plus very warm), and you should have no problems with extended walks in the city. They are also well-made, showing little signs of wear after over a year in both the barn and trips to town. Hope that helps.
Do these boots run true to size? Or do they run big or small? Thanks!
Step B on Jan 9, 2015
BEST ANSWER: They do run a little wide I think... but the 8.5 was perfect for me and that is what I usually wear. I almost got an 8, but glad I didn't because my foot would have gotten all sorts of rubs and blisters in afraid. They are the BEST!!!
these boots don't have a zipper. How easy are they to get on? Is there room to tuck in my jeans or do I wear English riding breeches with them?
animal lover on Dec 9, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Initially they are a little bit hard to get on... just a little... with regular, hiking-thickness socks.
Once on, there is more than enough room in the toe box.

I have 2 pairs.
The brown I've had for a year and they slip right on.
The black ones I just got, have worn them about 5 times, and it gets easier each time.

I LOVE that there's no zipper to mess with.

I wear jeans that are narrow at the ankle, but by no means are they like leggings... and the jeans fit fine inside the boots and look great.
My calves are 13" and the circumference of the shaft at the top is 14".
Can you wear them in the summer?
A shopper on Jan 9, 2017
BEST ANSWER: August in Chicago you are not going to want to wear them. I would call them 3 season boots.
I wear a size 9 in the Dublin Brown would I need the same size for the black?
A shopper on Aug 17, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I believe all boots of the same make and model # are made from the same footprint or mold. Thus color should not affect the fit. I bought a size larger than normal shoe size to allow for the use of heavy socks in the winter. I live in a very cold part of the US.
Are these for riding ?
D C on Jan 10, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Both. They are great barn barn boots as they keep your feet dry and warm but unlike most barn chore boots, the are designed to fit in stirrups for riding. You don't have to compromise. They are amazing
Should I size up to a 8.5 or order my size 8? I do have a medium wide foot and thicker calfs
A shopper on Jun 20, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I have bought several pairs of these boots over the years -- they are a good deal for the money. I am a 6.5 size and have a wide foot and these work for me. Though slightly tight in width when I first get them, they do loosen up with wear. I have worn these in different barn situations and they are easy to clean up and though not completely waterproof, they are highly water resistant. I wear them with my jeans tucked into them so I can't say how they will fit with a wide calf. They are fairly straight up from the ankle and I have an average, not skinny calf.
Are they warm? Not much said about the insulation. How cold are they rated?
A shopper on Oct 25, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I think they are very warm even through some bad winters here in Chicago but I added some shearling insoles from LL Bean that another reviewer suggested. I can't remember my toes getting cold even walking through the snow.
Will these boots keep your feet warm in below zero weather?
Ann F on Jul 21, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I bought thee boots t wear in very cold weather. I live I the UP of Michigan where we often get below zero temps. I did, however, buy a half size larger to allow room for a good pair of wool socks which also helps.
I have a 13 1'2 inch calf. Will these fit me?
lynne on Dec 10, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Here is the sizing chart for the original River Boots to help you decide:
http://www.statelinetack.com/ContentFiles/Sizing_Charts/SLT900372.jpg
I have a medium wide foot, but my calves are wide. I don't understand, most riders I know have wider calves because of the muscles they build up especially the longer they ride. Yes I know a lot of riders are petite, but the calves have always been thicker because of the riding. My question is will these at a size 8, be wide enough for a 16" calf? If not will they stretch into?
Casana Z on Mar 26, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Get wide calf option. They do not stretch in calf. Black runs a whole size smaller than my brown ones.
Best boots ever!( brown) still deciding on the black due to fit
How deep of standing water are these still waterproof in?
Larisa R on Aug 7, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I have only been in ankle deep water with my boots and they were great.
do these come in wide calf?
sdrodgers s on Sep 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I bought regular boots. The foot runs a little short and narrow, or so I thought, but you'll have to ask the company if they're made in wide calf
what is the exact circumference of the opening at the top of the boot?
Joy B on Mar 24, 2015
BEST ANSWER: A size 9.5 would have a top calf circumference of approximately 17".
How wide is calf area of boot?
Lorie on Nov 3, 2014
BEST ANSWER: The boot is fairley snug around the calf. They don't completely hug your leg, but they don't look big around it either. Hope this helps!
I have a pair I wear them riding and around town. They run wide so I really need a 5 1/2. Any chance of getting my size?
A shopper on Apr 27, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Unfortunately the smallest size is 6. We do apologize for any inconvenience!
Why don't they come in size 11 or 12?
A shopper on Mar 14, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This item is available on Dublin.com in a size 11 highest size. We do not carry these in the size 11.
does this boot come in brown ? Is this boot included in the 25% off ?
A shopper on Dec 7, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It does come in brown, not sure if it's on sale though.
what international sizing would these boots be - I am an australian 6.5 or an european 38?
jodi s on Jul 6, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Thanks for the question!!
A 38 translates to a US 7.5 in most cases.
