Product Summary:

EasyCare Easyboot® Epic Hoof Boots

The Easyboot Epic is the ideal boot for aggressive conditions or for a horse that is difficult to keep booted. The attached Easyboot Gaiter provides extra protection to the hoof, prevents excess dirt and debris from entering the boot, and also helps secure the boot in extreme conditions, such as mud, snow and water crossings. The Easyboot Epic has been used by endurance riders in every distance and have been used in many thousands of miles of competition.

The Easyboot is a natural way to provide hoof protection, traction, treatment, cushioning and correction while allowing your horse to go barefoot at all other times. They fit snugly to the hoof, are lighter and last many times longer than standard steel plates. Properly fitted, they stay on as well as nailed-on shoes with an important advantage: if an Easyboot is pulled off, the rider can put it right back on.

Features:

  • Sold individually
  • Reinforced gaiter folds back for ease of application
  • Comfort strap fits low and snug to secure boot
  • Semi-aggressive tread has proven successful over various terrain
  • New cable buckle design

Came back to the Epic after trying other boots. These can be a pain to use but offer the best protection without letting lots of debris get in from the top, as in the Cavallo below.

BEST ANSWER: The best person to ask this question to would either be a vet or your farrier; but my favorite hoof boot so far are the cavallo boots because they are easy to get on/off and they allow the hoof to breath and move normally. There are open slots above the sole to let debris and water out. The different brands of boots also have a different fit, and with the Cavallo, there is a different fit for different models, their regular sole is round where the slim sole is a 1/4" narrower on the sides than the length.

Do these use a key?
A shopper on Aug 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Not sure what you mean by a key.

But theses have a latch that pops up or pushes down to lock in to place. I carry a hoof pick with me and use it for easy leverage to pop the latch up if it is ever hard to pop up with my fingers. I also use my hoof pick to easily switch the wires around to the different positions if needed. If I remember correctly, the latch has about 3 groves in it to tighten the boot to the correct fit.

My favorite boot is the easy boot epic with the gator that velcroes around there pastern. I have never lost a boot with a gator. They fit all of my horses well and do not rub sores. Even after riding all day or for several days in a row.

Hope this helps :)
Happy Trails
How do you measure for the easyboot epic?

Are the gaitors removable?
Rowdy R on May 7, 2015
BEST ANSWER: They are removable. I don't have a lot of knowledge about the boots, but have in the year I have been using them, I replaced one gaitor. I would recommend having a spare and repair kit on hand.
