Not like the ones I've used in years past.
The cotton rope is to big or the clip is too small. Hard to fasten. Hoping the rope will get worn down with age or will have to find a larger clip.

Final the halters I grew up with. Easy to put on with no fumbling. Easy to adjust. Just make sure you order the right size.

The rope halters, the nylon halter and the mucker shoes were all as I expected. However, a recent issue with another order involving charges on metal stall hayracks was entirely misleading on quoted cost/shipping charges which ended up being more expensive that the items themselves and when I was supposed to receive "free shipping" from rep with an over the phone order - they not only would do nothing about correcting the matter and only partially agreed to some credit, but that hasn't even been given two weeks after complaint. I will never order form Stateliness again and will revert to Valley Vet - a great competitor. We had planned on spending hundreds of dollars furnishing our new barn that will house horses that have been rescued and for which we will rehabilitate and rehome safely - but now Stateliness has missed that opportunity - our foundation is a 501(C)(3) see website www.foxfieldrecoverymission.org

I am looking for a really soft rope halter. How soft is this halter?

BEST ANSWER: It is not soft. The rope is rather stiff. I would not recommend it if you are seeking a soft, pliable halter right out of the package. That being said, washing it in the washing machine and use will soften it somewhat. It is also thicker rope than most other rope halters, but I have large equines. I hope this helps.

It is not very soft. It is basic utility rope, flexible but not soft. Mine also tends to twirl up and not lay right. The latch is handy and quick. I use it for bathing mostly. For the price it is a good basic halter for around the barn.
To be honest this was not a very soft rope to me. But, I too like the way it was constructed. One of my horses has a very large head so I tried one for a Mustang and it worked great.
It's very soft. Unfortunately the attachment hardware at the upper part of the halter isn't designed right. Which makes it difficult to put on and off.
It's quite stiff, not really soft, at least when it is still relatively new. I don't know how much it will soften up. That said, I love the halter.
This is not a small halter. I purchased this for my POA and it was way to big. Plus it is not soft. It's very sift.
Its not that soft. Its not any softer then the nylon halters. Nicely made the real old type halters. I like it.
It is stiff at first, but you can soften it by soaking it in water with fabric softener. Great halter!
This halter is really soft. Seems a better buy than poly.

Does it cause marks on the horse's head?
BEST ANSWER: No marks have been noticed on my horses. The only drawbacks with this halter is the stiffness of the rope at the cheek latch and the lead line connector.

It didn't on mine. But I don't leave them on all the time and make sure they are not too tight.
If you leave it on 24-7 then yes it will. Under normal use no it will not.

Do you think a yearling size would adjust small enough to fit a larger (300lbs) mini?
BEST ANSWER: Ashley, I would contact Fabtron direct to ask about size. They are super helpful - I ordered three of the large, and they do not fit the huge heads of my American Mammoth Jackstock. I contacted the company and they are willing to make some for my XL kids....I will use the ones I ordered for my smaller headed equines.

These halters run large with plenty of room for adjustment. It should work out fine forwhat you need.
I bought it the my mini mule who is about 400 lbs. And it adjusted fine.
Just my opinion, but I think it would be too large, , ,
I found this halter to have ample adjust, and good fit.

I don't know if I should get average or large. I have a big headed Tennessee Walker and a Friesian Dutch Warmblood cross. How do I size it?

I would go with large. that's what I bought and I have 2 quarter horses with average heads. I think the large is a good bet for you. they are stiff but with wear I think they will soften up. for the price I think they are a good buy
The large would be the choice for your fresian cross. TWH I might try regular horse but it depends. If you were looking at a bridle would you get a warmblood size for him?

nope - they are unbleached cotton but resistant to dirt

can the metal get hot in hot Arizona sun ? where does it adjust from ?

Metal fittings on halters could possibly be a concern in extreme heat. This halter adjusts both under the jaw and under the right ear by sliding the cotton rope through the buckle.
I wouldn't expect the buckle to get any hotter than the hardware on any other halter. The halter can be adjusted on the right hand size(opposite the buckle), but not easily.
THe adjustment comes from the upper area and some under the chin. I feel the metal can get warm on any halter when in the sun.
