I re-rigged my mule saddle with a "centerfire" configuration -one cinch held by billet straps from front and back cinch D-rings. I used a motley collection of straps; it is working well to prevent the cinch from rubbing my mule's "armpit" so I now want a uniform set of billet straps.

I've had one on my saddle for over 2 years, and it's holding up nicely. I've never had any problems with it--functions just like you'd expect and is durable.

BEST ANSWER: I looked at the Fabtron website and didn't see black latigos nor off billets. I do leathercrafts and know black latigo leather exists, but I haven't seen it in saddle straps. The majority of latigo leather seems to be burgundy. Tandy Leather sells premium sides that are 4 to 4.8 mm thick in burgundy, and the black sides are just 3.2 to 4 mm. In case anybody cares and doesn't know, the tie straps used to always be latigo leather straps, so they were just called latigos. Now that they come in nylon, folks call them tie straps. Latigo tends to be very strong, and will stretch before it breaks. I have some latigo English stirrup leathers.
What color is the off billet? I'd like a dark brown...can't tell if this is a burgundy. Thanks.

BEST ANSWER: It's burgundy. Also if you have a light colored horse and they get wet the strap will dye them red which is a bit alarming to see the first time!
what color is this?
