I'm replacing the one I have had for several years as it is not heating properly anymore.<br />The size makes it easy to clean and makes for fresher water for 2 horses than the 50 gal tank I have in another location. These work great.

I have one already and I place it next to my horses large water tub. It makes it so there is always unfrozen water and I use a hammer to break up the unheated one and can keep filling this 16 gallon heated tub and it will melt the ice. Gives me the assurance my horses can drinkwhen they need to.

Cheaper to run 4 of these buckets than the 1500 watt stock heater.

I need a large bucket for soaking hay in freezing temperatures here in Colorado.
Mary B on Nov 11, 2018
The price. I have always used the blue 16 gal buckets but they were $100 each. I was very happy with the freight cost too. Because of their size I thought the freight might cancel any savings from buying the blue ones locally but I'm still paying $80 less for two buckets.

I have the 5 gallon version of this and absolutely love it. My goats are so happy to have warm water to drink all day and night. This tub will help keep my goats hydrated. They are drinking the 5 gallon bucket very fast so need a bigger version!!!

Working great in 15 degree weather. Water is warm enough there is a little steam rising from it. Highly recommended.

I wanted to make sure my horse had plenty of water that did not freeze in the winter . Jo-Jo loves his water and smaller buckets will not do.
Judy D on Sep 29, 2016
My tub is now several years old and still working well. My horse doesn't like the taste of the heated water, but I use it for a ready source to fill a bucket for him in his stall, which he will drink when it cools down. This is a necessary tub to use for winters in VT.
Nancy H on Aug 26, 2016
works very good
judith s on Jul 11, 2016
Great for a horse confined to a large stall at night. Easier to change and dump than a large trough-a lot easier to handle and uses less power to heat than the big heaters.
DebC on May 16, 2016

Needed heated tubs, not buckets, for two paddocks in MA. We put 15 gal in each paddock every other day. Perfect size, great price, saved nearly 60 bucks total for 2, which covered the freight with $30 to spare!

Great for the year round water bucket for my 3 very large Golden's.
Lorissa C on Jan 23, 2014
Don't enjoy busting ice from water buckets. Plus the more important reason would be the horses drink more when the water is readily available and they don't have to break through the ice themselves.

Is the heating element hidden in the tub?
A shopper on Oct 8, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The picture in the ad clearly shows the bottom of the tub. The heating element is clearly covered but not completely “hidden”. It can be seen through slots in the plastic that covered the element. It is NOT completely exposed as most elements are in a trough nor is it completely hidden like in a heated bucket. Personally I love this heated tub but wish it had a longer cord.
Ana M N on Mar 6, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Outside handle measurement is 24 inches
outside bucket measurement is 21 inches
Inside bucket measurement is 19 inches
Height is 17 inches.
What are the dimensions?
A shopper on Mar 6, 2019
BEST ANSWER: 21 inches across the top and 16.5 inches tall
If my horse drinks the bucket dry will the heating element break/stop working?
Rebecca B on Mar 4, 2019
BEST ANSWER: We had that happen to our heated bucket. And luckily it didn’t hurt the heating element. Filled the bucket with cold water and hours later checked it and it was heating. I would definitely purchase this
What is the shipping cost ?
A shopper on Feb 28, 2019
BEST ANSWER: You can check shipping costs online! Once you have the items in your cart, proceed to checkout and choose guest checkout, then enter in your billing state and zip code and it will give you the total for shipping.
How do you get the bottom off to get at the cord??
Ron P on Dec 4, 2018
BEST ANSWER: There is no need to get the bottom off to get at the cord. You just plug it in and fill with water and it’s ready to go. I used this heated tub all last winter and plugged it back in again about a month ago. When I need to dump and rinse to add fresh water I just unplug. It keeps the water noticeably warm on really cold days and nights. My horses drink out of it a lot and I have other tanks available for them. Hope this helps!
Will this work for a swine?
A shopper on Nov 23, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I would like to help, but don’t know enough about swine to feel I can answer well. That said, I have 2 16 gallon and 2 6 gallon versions of this bucket and I love them.; they have saved me hauling buckets of hot water from the house. Heed the instructions about not letting it get empty while plugged in. One of my helpers didn’t fill the bucket last week. I filled it as soon as I saw it was empty and was hoping it would still work, but it was well iced over this morning (first time the temps go low enough for it to freeze). I’m happy I can replace the element, but it’s still over half the price of the bucket.

The 16 gallon bucket is fairly high ( roughly 18”), so I wonder how big your swine is? I use mine for my horses.

Good luck!
Would this work for 4 Nigerian dwarf goats or is it too big?
A shopper on Nov 12, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I think this heated tub will be great for them. You will find that having warm water available for them, they will actually drink more warm water than COLD. If your Nigerian dwarf goats have a tendency to tip things over, simply go to your local TIRE store and find an old tire that you are able to find one with just the right width of an opening and drop this tub inside the old tire. Tire stores always have several warn out tires that they will be just throwing them away anyway, but they will work awesome for stabilize of the heated water tub. You will be happy with this set up. I can't live without our tubs!!!
Why can an extension cord not be used with this? Would love to puchase, but a 10' extension cord would be a requirement for my use.
Carol F on Oct 8, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I used 15 of these all with extension cords. My cords were approx 6-8 feet and custom cut. The tubs worked great. In the course of one year, we had one break, and 3 get damaged beyond repair by horses.
Does the cord have a place to fold into underneath the bucket keeping it out of the way when not being used?
JZorner on Aug 25, 2018
BEST ANSWER: No, it does not. We still use it all year round tho and just tuck the cord behind the bucket. Also, we bought regular 5 gallon flat stall heated buckets that DO have a place where you can fold it into the bottom of the pail and snap a lid on HOWEVER I no longer use the lid because it makes the bottom of the pail smooth and there is no place to grasp an edge when you are tossing out the old water. But the big bucket is great it has lasted several years now.
How low can the temperature go and this product will still keep water from freezing?
d c on Aug 9, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I live in Maryland so the temps go way below freezing some days - I have never had the water freeze in this bucket even on the coldest days - but I also make sure the water doesn't get real low and this one is located under an overhang.
Can this bucket be kept outside?
A shopper on Jul 14, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I don't know. I have 2 of these great buckets side by side on a small pallet that keeps them a couple of inches off the barn floor(dirt floor). I have a stock tank outside the barn with a floating heater that comes on when the temps drop. I used gfi's for both types of heaters.
How tall is the heated tub?
jtreasures t on Jun 9, 2018
BEST ANSWER: 16 1/2 inches
what temp does this heat water up to ?
A shopper on Feb 5, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I haven't checked the H20 temp of the 2 buckets but in cold weather my donkeys drink from these rather than the larger stock tank with a de icer. The water in the heated buckets keeps them drinking a normal amount and I’ve not felt the need to add salt to,their grain to keep them drinking during the cold months. 1 bucket is about 4 years old and the one purchased in ‘16 are both working fine. When the weather gets warm I just turn off the switch to the gfi into which the buckets are plugged. Ez!
Does this have to be grounded?
shelly on Dec 12, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I have ground fault plugs in my barn, so I don't know if that helps. I do have one where the ground prong broke off, I use it, but am careful to check the water if I notice he is not drinking...maybe getting a shock. I plan to replace it..right now the nights are 21 degrees so I keep it on.until my new one gets here.
I have used these puppies for years, and they work great.
does this have to be connected to power to work?
Lauren B on Oct 30, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes... if you want to have the water heated.... You can use it not plugged in as a regular water bucket.. However its pricy to be used just as a plain water bucket. LOVE mine during cold weather and winter.. keeps the water a nice... temperature. NOT HOT.. just lightly warm.. so they drink more
What are the dimensions?
Alex M on Jul 16, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It is the size of a standard muck bucket. I have used it in stalls and in small paddocks. LOVE IT! I have three of them!
How can you tell if the bucket is working? It is -15 Deg. Fah. and can get a low colder than that in the evenings. Is it warm enough to keep the ice off the bucket at that temp?
Rose L on Jan 2, 2017
This is my 2nd season using this bucket. I live in Massachusetts and temps get to single digits or below. It works great and keeps the water warm and DOESN'T trip my electrical circuit. I have 2 buckets on 1 circuit, plus a low voltage heat plate for my chicken water. When it's working properly there will be steam rising from the surface of the water and no ice will form. I did have trouble with the heating element and had to replace it several times before I got one that worked. If you don't see steam rising off the surface at below 40F temps then it's not working. Stateline did replace the coil for free. Hope that helps!
What if all the water is gone? Will that burn out the element?
Linda M on Dec 8, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes! Unfortunately I have to buy a new element after a helper left the bucket empty. Today was the the first morning it was low enough to freeze since then and it was well frozen over.
At least I don’t have to buy a new bucket. The element is about half the price of the new bucket.
Do these heated tubs come any larger than the 16 gallon? I use it to soak my mares hay in since she is very heavey. Does the tub turn off when the water reaches a certain tempature, and turns back on when it goes down at a certain tempature.?
Terri on Dec 4, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Not sure if they come bigger but yes, there's a thermostat in the bucket that will turn it on when the water needs to be warmed or it will shut off when it reaches acceptable temperature. I love mine!
Would this be too big for goats?
Jordann S on Nov 1, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Depends on the size of your goats. if they are NOT TINY MINI goats no problem..I love mine . Have them in all of the horse paddock stalls. Heavy duty and easy to clean. So long as you have a good extension cord for outdoors.. not the light weight indoor type they are great! saves frozen water in the winter months .. So I am not hauling water!!!
How many amps does this heated bucket pull?
Margaret C on Oct 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I really don't know about amps, I plug into 110 outlet but heater is small and only gets warm. Therefore, I wouldn't think it would take many.
How long is the cord?
A shopper on Oct 14, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The power cord is 6 feet long.
Can the bucket be heated even if the temperature is greater than 37 dgrees?
Paula L on Jun 14, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes. I plug mine in and leave it all winter under the eaves of my barn. We stay warmer than that often in our Arkansas winters. It will grow some algae when it stays warm for a while but I just add a little bleach and clean it periodically. I use it for dairy goats.
where can I buy a replacement element?
Andra S on Dec 13, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Please contact Farm Innovators at 800-277-8401 or
can they be put outside, or do they have to be put in stalls?
heatherb on Jan 6, 2015
BEST ANSWER: We have ours outside the barn but it is under the eaves. We are planning to put one completely outside soon (moving cows first as they tend to destroy things) and have done so in the past with no problem. It does say not recommended to use extension cord but we have to do so and use a heavy duty, grounded cord with a ground fault interrupter on it.
How much is shipping?
A shopper on Dec 22, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Not much it was reasonable and worth it. The bucket arrived undamaged and in 3-5 days as promised. The price was $7.00 more at my local feed store So Stateline was the best value for my dollars
I need a heated buckets to use them in Europe (Czech republic). There is electrical power system of 220 V in our country. Is your bucket appropriate to be used in 22OV system? How much is the shipping?
Thank you in advance for your prompt answer.
Best wishes
kveta k on Dec 15, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I think that is question that the manufacturer should answer. I know nothing about electricity. But I love the bucket.
How warm does the water get? Can you regulate a thermostat?
Kathy P on Jan 28, 2014
The water stays lukewarm day and night, even on our nights in the single digits. It has a thermostat to keep it at an even temperature, but it cannot be adjusted. We don't find any need to change what it dies automatically. The horses are very happy with it and continue to drink their normal 10 gallons or so a day each. We refill it during the day to keep the level up. The robins and wrens are enjoying it too. They love to swoop down and have a drink and drop in a hollytberry or two in the process. We dump it out every three days or so and give it a good scrubbing to keep algae from building up. We have used a heated bucket for five years, and this year is the first time we had to replace it.
We wish you the best.
