A STAPLE IN MY BARN
I use this product, mixed with a pyrethrin concentrate. Also throw in some Listerine, I heard the menthol is an added bug deterrent, and even if it's not, it smells good! The combo works great, the natural oils seem to work best for mosquitoes.

Sensitive skin horses
My morgan mare has skin reaction to most fly sprays. This one is non irritating to her. It works as well as any information have tried.i think flies believe fly spray is perfume now. I live in western Kentucky and we have tons of the large black biting flies. I haven't found any product that works well but this is OK and doesn't irritate so it is her sprayYes, I recommend this product.

Love this product
If you have young horses this fly spray is perfect. I like it because the youngsters are always grooming each other, so I don't have to worry about the chemical. Apply a generous amount.

Love the smell
I find that my horses that are sensitive to other, stronger fly sprays do not seem to be bothered with this one.It is alcohol free so my horses coats are not getting dull and dry

Great for Sensitive Skin
Does not irritate my mare's skin like other products. As far as fly control.....it seems to work about like any other kind. Reapply often.

Works great!
I was out at the barn last week and the flies were worse than they've ever been. When I was grooming my thoroughbred mare, she was throwing a fit, stomping, kicking, throwing her head because of the flies. I grabbed this stuff and it worked great, she settled down just a little bit after putting this on her legs. Great product!

doesn't work very well
I tried 4 bottles and it doesn't repel flies very well. And it only lasts a short while. I am looking for another alternative.

Great if Flys are not too bad
Takes about 10 minutes to work but then you will notice no flies...A little more expensive then insecticide but it is worth my health and my horses.

This is a great every-day fly spray that I can also use on other pets!

Very good fly control using daily in key places (belly, back, front legs and bare side of neck) with a 1:1 ratio. Very effective, and I like that it has no chemicals (but I will probably use something stronger for horn fly season!!). Our horses wear fly masks every day during summer.

My horse has allergies- this has helped tremendously in just a few short weeks. He scratches all day on pine trees etc and has just rubbed his hide off this year. It has worked better than the Tri-Hist been on this year in a few weeks.

This is the best natural fly spray I have found.
Tamsin W on Aug 3, 2016
I've been using this fly spray for years. I find it works as well as anything else out there and the concentrate makes it economical. I've tried others and always come back to Nature's Defense. My horses come in from the pasture and do NOT have welts from bites. It smells good.

Keeps the ticks away

The only thing I will use in my barn other than apple cider vinegar, garlic and diatamaceous earth. Works well for the short term and we put a little with water in a sprinkling can for the aisle and patios. No pyrethrins.

I like the all natural fly sprays. This one does not smell toxic.
Cathryn B on Jul 20, 2014
I love this product. I like that it is not filled with pesticides that burn my horse's skin or contribute to other health issues. This is the only fly spray that he will stand still for without me having to hold him while I spray him. It does repel flies. The concentrate is extremely economical.

Does it work on all types of flies and ticks?
Marie G on May 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I buy Nature's Defense because I don't want to spray really harmful chemicals on my horses. Essential oils do work, but, of course, for a limited amt of time. But that the same for chemically-laden sprays. But I don't mind spraying Nature's Defense more often, if needed. And the 32oz concentrate makes 5 quarts. As for ticks . . I still find one upon occasion, but again, I've found them with the chemically-laden sprays, too. Get some fly predators and non-chemical insect "stickies" to round-out your defense.
