What size are they?
Lynn R on Sep 29, 2014
Best Answer: They are the standard diameter but much deeper! Love love love them. They are very durable too, I still have the ones I purchased and they are holding up like new, just barn dirt to wash off! I won't buy the ones from the feed store again these are much better. Horses can't flick grain out as easily because of depth! Also the hot pink one was for a pony so it works well for a smaller horse too.

how long are the hangers on the back of the bucket?
A shopper on Oct 31, 2014
Best Answer: Honestly, I believe the hanger portion may be about the same as the standard ones you see at the feed store....BUT....I have found that because this bucket is deeper than the standard ones you find at the feed store it stays more securely because it sits more flat on the fence. I love the one I purchased almost two years ago. It is still in great shape, just barn dirt. My horses just seem to like it better... don't mess with it as much so no damage. As an added tip though you can put one of those rubber bungees(stronger) around the lower portion so our little stinkers don't flip it. Just make sure the metal s-clips are well hidden behind bucket.
Enjoy!

How long has this product lasted for you? Are the colors true to the picture? And do you recommend me buying one?
A shopper on Jan 18, 2016
Best Answer: Years and they are still fine. They are very durable, even out in freezing conditions. I had a horse that use to take it off the fence and toss it around and it never cracked or broke. I ended up having to bolt it on to the rail and drill small drain holes in the bottom so water wouldn't collect in it. only did that because I got tired of trying to find it after he had fun with it. It is meant more for a fence rail or round pen panels since not all stalls have a lip that they can hang on.

Can these feeders be used for cattle?
A shopper on Jul 25, 2015
Best Answer: I don't know if a large headed steer could get its head into the bucket. They are pretty rough with feeding troughs. These buckets are great and I think you should try one and see if it works for you. I use them for my horses and they work perfectly. But they have a longer nose than a steer.I would secure it to the fence for the cattle and see if it works. If it does you will be very pkeased.

how big are they?
d l on Jun 14, 2016
Best Answer: It is 14 inches deep (top to bottom) with 11 inches that holds the feed. The other 3 inches is used up buy an open area, like a handle. The opening at top is more than wide enough for horses (even some cows) but tapers to a narrower 8 inches (front to back) at the very bottom. According to discription it holds 4 gallons. I have several of these, they take a beating, always getting knocked off the fence. They are very sturdy. I have a neighbor who uses them as flower pots, LoL (I think she drilled holes in the bottom).

Will is work over round metal gates?
A shopper on May 18, 2017
Best Answer: I think it will because I use mine on the round pipe corral panels. My horses like to push them off the rail and kick them to the middle of the corral. I use the nylon straps with the ring on one end and the snap ring on the other (sold by State Line Tack) to hold them on so my horses can't do that. Both items hold up really well. I have used mine for 2 years and they are still in really good shape.

what is the capacity ?
A shopper on Aug 5, 2015
Best Answer: we had a goat eating out of it so we broke a flake of alfa alfa off and tore it apart to shove it in there. We use them as bird and dog waterers now. The goat wasn't able to eat grain out of the bucket and usually had it off the fence in order to get the last of the hay. My mom didn't want them for her horse because they were to deep for grain. I personally wouldn't ever buy them again as I don't know what animal could really get to the bottom of the feeder. The dogs drink about 3/4 of the way down then we refill them.

How many quarts does this hold?
What size is this?
A shopper on May 2, 2017
Best Answer: I am not sure how many quarts, but they are large. I would say a gallon. I bought them thinking I could use them for market lambs and horses, but they are too deep to use for the lambs. They work great for the horses and are tough.

Will these hang on chain link fence?
A shopper on Jan 1, 2017
Best Answer: Probably not a good idea. As the horse consumes his grain there is a good amount of downward pressure on the feeder which would cause the chain link to bend or sag. The feeder should be attached securely to something that will support the downward pressure. Even though ours are screwed into the board fence rails, over time they will crack and have to be replaced.

Best Answer: I have used these feed buckets for the past few years. They hold up great. I hang them on the wooden rail. They don't swivel around this way.
