Impact Gel has amazing products that protect my horse and keep him healthy.
Pamela T on Dec 28, 2016
I love this saddle pad. It evenly distributes pressure on the horses back so they do not develop sores. Very, very nice saddle pad that works the way a saddle pad should. If you think a saddle pad is not that important, just ask your horse. They make a difference in a comfortable ride verses pressure ulcer issues!
Penny S on Sep 25, 2016
Been using these pads for years.....wonderful.
Susan C on Aug 28, 2016
Needed a new pad. Product description suggests this is the exact pad I need for my 24 year old quarter horse gelding. I hope it is for this price!

This is a great saddle pad. As my horse is aging, my old
pads just aren't comfortable for her withers. This pad cushions her
withers very well. I am buying a 2nd one for a gift.

Theresa S on Mar 31, 2014
I ordered the 30x30 size for my short back horse. I wanted the close contact feel with the impact protection of the gel and the comfort feel of felt. I needed the contoured shape.
Terry G on Mar 29, 2014
love this pad second one I have had
Deborah G on Mar 13, 2014
Love impact gel pads. Have to buy a new one every year but it is cheaper than a new saddle.
Shannon S on Feb 17, 2014
The impact gel pads have always fit my horses really well.
Jade H on Oct 17, 2013
I wanted a pad for my draft/tb cross, when I rode western that would be good for her back. I have only used it once and it was fine. It is heavy and hot, but provides support and comfort for my horse. I like all the impact gel products, you can't go wrong.

Is 32 the length wither to croup? and 30 width? how do you size this pad/
A shopper on May 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Length by width
I don't see much of a product description on this. I have a Circle Y wide saddle for my very broad QH mare. She lays her ears back when ask for a canter but complies immediately anyway (sweet girl!). I don't want to cause her pain. She's a bay, but has a white spot on her left upper shoulder just where the saddle is the most snug. She had it when I bought her) She has very large (shoulders. I tried an extra wide saddle (western of course) that a friend had. It just fell down all over her, so I guess there are even wider horses out there! I need a saddle pad that will alleviate any pain she may feel. I can't handle causing her pain at the expense of my pleasure. Can I get more info on this pad? Advice on another, more comfortable one? Thank you to anyone who responds to this. This mare is so, so special!!
Terri P on Oct 7, 2013
BEST ANSWER: My daughter rides at least 5 days a week and she loves these pads. We have four horses and use this pad on all four of them. My daughter competatively barrel races so she rides hard and we want to give our horses the most comfort we can. I have tried may other brands but have found this one to be the best. My only concern would be that in my experience if the saddle doesn't fit you can use the best pad on the market and your horse still isn't comfortable if the saddle doesn't fit correctly. The white spot is from the saddle not fitting properly.
will this 30 inch be best for a tucker saddle ?
debbie w on Jul 12, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It really depends on a few things: a. The age of the horse you are riding, b. The discipline you are participating in, c. Personal preference...we use this pad on our older breakaway/tie down horse...it is more comfortable for him--- there is less friction, it protects the withers and is more comfortable as it wicks heat away. what kind of Tucker saddle do you have: pleasure/trail, barrel---you really can't go wrong with this pad--it is used everyday and wears well...
Who makes this saddle pad?
Sue J on Oct 19, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Hi Sue, Impact Gel is the company's name that makes them. I bought this pad for my husband who's a team roper and it is still holding up great. They're more expensive than the other brands but worth it in my opinion. Hope this helps. Barb
Please tell me about cleaning the pad - how well does it come clean? do you use any product on it? Thanks!
CJs rider on May 5, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I recently got this pad. I will clean it by using a pretty strong hose spray. Always spray from the center of the pad, outward. Hang to dry. Letting it dry in the sun exposing both sides of it may help with killing germs. I won't use soap because it is to hard to get completely out. Don't brush it either. That would damage the fiber.
I really like this pad. Lot's of great features I was looking for. I got the smaller one for my 14h short backed Quarab. This pad is not too thick so you can use a thin blanket under or over it if you like.
My horse gets really hot while riding and running barrels. I'm looking for something that wont make her too hot. Any suggestions?? Is t
his a good saddle pad for riding in the summer when its hot?? If not please feel free to give me some recommendations.
Lexi S on Jul 7, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Well I do like my gel pads. I have 2. I used to think the gel would get hot and burn the horse. But it doesn't. I watched a 1 hr. show on Impact Gel. You can call them directly or go to their web site. Like I said I have 2. This 1 here and 1 with the blanket on top.
How do you know which thickness is right ?
A shopper on Apr 18, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Because we ride for 6-8 hours we always purchase the greatest thickness available. Also when put on the horses back check to see that it is not too much in that it may cause the saddle to sit in a "tilted' way--too high in the front is usually the case.
Are the two pieces connected with Velcro?
A shopper on Dec 4, 2014
BEST ANSWER: There is no Velcro on this pad. The leather is stitched to the felt. Nice pad. Use it everyday
Is this good for barrel racing?
Grace on Jul 13, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, we bought this pad about 2 years ago, this is the second season with it and very good pad. We use it for all disciplines of riding, pleasure, trail and gaming, Our 4H club actually toured the factory where they are made, Ettrick, WI. Great product made right here in the Midwest of USA! We have pressure washed the pad and laid it in the sun to dry. It's holding up well and I would recommend it, in fact, I plan to buy another pad.
Will this pad fit a timberline western saddle?
Linda B on Nov 11, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It's super flexible and the cut away areas allow it to fit with multiple saddles. Super comfortable on my horses. I do not own the timberline, but have used my simco, billy cook, and an off brand synthetic western saddle with the lad and it's worked great with all of them
How many years should I expect one of these pads to last with moderate use?
Peggy C on Jul 4, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I have had mine since 11/13 and use it two or three times per week. Actually, my wife and I both use them. It shows little or no signs of wear. When it gets dirty, I pressure wash it and hang it to dry. You should expect several years of moderate use.
What impact gel pad of this quality is available for my daughter's jumper that is beginning his rehab from a vehicle trailer accident?
Judith W on Aug 14, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I would suggest checking the Impact Gel website. We have used this pad with an endurance saddle and english (forward seat) saddles at home. I know they make pads for english saddles but I do not know if they are the same impact gel. Good luck and I hope your daughter's horse has a smooth recovery.
What is the material on the underside of this pad?
Lori G on Oct 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It's the same as the outside, I think felt. If you have a heavy saddle I would not recommend this. I have a roper saddle and the pressure goes right through the gel onto the shoulders. best made for alight trail saddle. It only lasted me a year before I needed to find something else.
can I return if it dosent fit?
A shopper on Jan 1, 2017

Is it a good pad for a saddle that doesn't fit the horse?
A shopper on Dec 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: in my opinion nothing can substitute for a proper fitting saddle. However my sensitive mare likes this pad.
Is the 32 x30 32" wide and 30" long or 30" long and 32" wide?
Karen M on May 23, 2016
BEST ANSWER: 32" Spine
30" Drop
I have a Tennessean saddle. My T Walker is getting sore in two spots, up at the withers and back spine. I can see the reinforcemental for the withers is there any help for the lower spine?
A shopper on Apr 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: This is a great pad. I love that it doesn't slip or allow saddle slippage.

HOWEVER, If You're getting sores, maybe it's the saddle fit itself. I'd check that 1st. Contact saddle maker and ask what pad they recommend. I know my friends TWs have high withers and low top line. I'd check out skito pads, as they are made to fit YOUR horse, not ALL horses and cost is pretty close.
I trail ride long hours and as I live in AZ it is essential that I have a pad that will remain "cool". I have never used a gel pad--would it be better in that way? My horse has developed quite high withers & also now require a cutback & would like spine relief as well. Would this pad provide all this?
A shopper on Mar 7, 2016
BEST ANSWER: First, I live in Minnesota and experience hot muggy summers and ride in that weather with this pad. I believe the pads are made of wool and I can tell you that in very hot weather out horses are always sweated up and wet under the pad. I have had horses that are high withered in the past and I believe this pad does help with that issue. If your horse is severely high withered, I would consider a build-up along with a good pad. We have been very happy with the pad overall and need to purchase a second one. Good luck
Other websites I have looked at have a 32 x 32. You don't?
Lynne F on Oct 14, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I got the 30x30 for my short backed 14 hh horse. Nice pad!
Why do I not get the extra 25% rebate?
Debbie s on Nov 16, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This item is reduced to the lowest price, the 25% off banner does explain not all items receive a discount.
How do I know what size saddle pad to buy?
A shopper on Jan 12, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Well, the measurements are displayed but if that isn't enough, the pad fits a regular western saddle.
