Kensington Non-Collapsing Fly Boots

These fly boots are manufactured with US-made 1000 x 2000 Denier Textilene fabric, formulated to withstand fading, fire, mildew, soiling wear and tear, even in the most extreme weather conditions. Textilene is an innovative woven PVC-coated fabric known for its durability with 78% air permeable and non-heat transferring qualities, and blocks up to 73% of the sun's harmful UV rays. These boots protect from biting insects, mud, sand, and dirt, prevent injury from stomping, keep flies from biting the horse's legs, and also add protection while shipping. A plastic stay built under the fleece allows the boots to stay upright to protect the legs. Three adjustable Velcro straps and fleece trim provide extra comfort.

The boots are ok.....but
I had to wait for a month due to back orders. Honestly, they stay up but spin around and slide down. I wish the measurements were more detailed as i think the boots are too big. My horses are draft crosses with heavy bone

Fly Boots
I have bought quite a few pairs of fly boots these are the only ones that last. They do twist a little but at least they stay up and do protect against flies. These are the only ones I will buy.

The best fly boots I've purchased
I've purchased other brands of fly boots and what I got is velcro that is not sized properly for the boot which creates overlap that catches on everything. They have also sagged down the legs within hours.Kensington fly boots are the best I've seen. None of the above issues are present with these boots! They are sized properly, don't sag,and the velcro is appropriately sized with the diameter of the boot and horses legs. There is no sagging, and living in hot buggy Florida I keep them on 24/7 with little adjustments every morning. I just ordered a second pair!!

Actually works!
My mare was getting chewed up by flys, so I purchased these fly boots. The ones I bought for her last year were worthless and I threw them out. But I had to try something and it's been too hot to wrap her legs. We put these on as soon as we got them. I leave them on 24/7, except for baths and when she's ridden. Her legs are starting to heal and the boots are in good shape. They stay up and protect her legs. Great product and I heartily recommend.

Margaret P on Aug 9, 2016
not my favorite. The velcro attached to the material came unsewn on two of the straps. I wasn't able to return them. It would have taken to long to get knew ones, the flies are horrible. I hand stitched them on, however I know they are not gonna last. The straps are too sturdy for the material. Ordered different ones from somewhere else. Also, the size was to big for my horse.

sta;y up pretty well and definitely keep flies off lower legs
Constance M on Jul 6, 2016
I have used Kensington Fly Boot for years, but have tried others as well. None of the others, even those more expensive, hold up as well and stay in place as well as the Kensingtons. They wear for years and keep our horses comfortable in the worst fly seasons.
Nancy S on Jun 22, 2016
Because of the stay up technology. I need boots that don't collapse. I've never used these before but they are the only ones that claim they won't collapse.

do they rub and cause sores?
A shopper on Sep 1, 2013
BEST ANSWER: The short answer is 'yes', but usually not for long. When they're new and stiff, you need to check them often. Once they're softened up, they're fine. My horses sometimes get a callous where it rubs on their fetlock (they wear them 24/7). The boots don't look like the picture after they've been on a while. They'll sink down to where the middle velcro sits just above the fetlock. I also use them on the back legs, but that's trickier - there's more 'meat' on the back legs and it's easier to rub or get them too tight. Wish they had some elastic on the velcro. Still helps save on fly spray and shoes/feet.
Do they come in pairs?
Laurie G on Jul 3, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, they are sold in pairs. I have also found that they stay up nicely when I use bell boots on all fours. They also wear very well. I am into my second season and keep them on 24/7, for both turnout and when my horse is in her stall. I am in the Northeast and put them on around mid- May and continue till around October.
Are these fly boots a set of 4 or 2?
Roxanne on Mar 6, 2014
BEST ANSWER: They came with two boots, but the main stomping/chipping of hooves occurs with the front feet so a lot of people don't put them on the back feet. But of course, you can.
Do the velcro straps get torn off easily? - Thanks
Maggie C on Jul 16, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Hi Maggie, The Kensington Horse Fly Boots have worked great for me. I have been using the same two pair for 2 years now on the front and back, they also wash great. After washing I just kind of form them and let them air dry. There is absolutely no problem with the Velcro tearing off after 2 years, this will be the 3rd year we are using them when the leg biting Flies come here in MN. I bought a 2nd pair to have handy should I need them. Our Horse has leg problems therefore he should not be stomping from Flies and wears them daily once the Flies come. Dianne in Minnesota
Does the pair fit on both front and back legs?
patti r on May 14, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Absolutely, they fit front or rear legs. I have two horses of considerably different heights, and their boots are interchangeable. These wear wonderfully, as I use them 24-7 during fly season. My geldings are our on wooded pasture, and the boots hold up as they drag through the brush. Cannot say enough good about these boots.
Is there fronts and backs? Are thesold separately?
A shopper on Sep 4, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes - I had to purchase 2 sets to use on all 4 legs! If your horse doesn't like boots on the back legs, then only order 1 set. I LOVE them - one of my horses get bites so bad, they bleed and these have saved her legs!
What height and width are the medium?
Susie L on May 1, 2018
BEST ANSWER: 13" Tall, 9.5-11.5 wide
can these be worn by donkeys, mini donkeys to be specific?
A shopper on Jul 13, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I've never tried any on a donkey. The jenny we had was a miniature and we used regular boys tube socks on her. We measured her leg and the socks and cut them off at the foot. To keep then up we used vet wrap. They worked for the entire fly season in New Mexico at our rescue. She was adopted after that. Measuring the leg for any type of boots is important to get the size right.
Will these fit a 17 hand percheron?
A shopper on Jul 20, 2016
BEST ANSWER: They just might. Great boots. I have a 15.2 Peruvian Paso and they not only fit but there is a lot of extra room for expansion. Good luck. I have tried other (cheaper) boots and nothing works like these.
How does the sizing run? I have a Friesian cross and he has somewhat thicker
legs, would the horse size work?
A shopper on May 16, 2018
BEST ANSWER: My horse is a draft/thoroughbred (looks like the old big thick quarter horses of long ago) they fit him. Mine have lasted for at least two years and have been washed multiple times. The ones with the stays did not work as well and were more expensive. Hope they work well for you!
I have a 12.1 hand POA, would these fit him or would the Pony size be better?
Caity B on May 28, 2017
BEST ANSWER: They're pretty big. Can the company not help you with the proper size for your horse? I would hope that they could because I know you want them to fit properly. I haven't had them on my horse yet as the flies aren't bad yet, but she's a big girl.
Is the 'Dark Blue' the Navy English plaid last pictured?
A shopper on May 19, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Dark Blue is our new blue plaid. I would call and check to see if they still have the navy plaid in stock. That is a discontinued color now.
Bahama teal Kensington fly boot where to find that color ?
A shopper on Mar 9, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Bahama Teal is not available through this site. It's an exclusive color
What is the difference between the Kensington fly boots and the Kensington natural fly boots?
Kim S on Oct 20, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It looks like to me the only difference is the color/pattern. I was not aware there were "natural" boots until this came. It does seem to me the company should know since they are selling them.

BEST ANSWER: Sold in pairs of 2.
