One of the saddles does not have enough D rings and the cinch ring is too big for the breastplate hooks.
Linda S on May 25, 2016
These make attaching a breastplate way easier than trying to attach to the Ds of the saddle.

Cost to replace a missing fall down D ring is over $100, these work as well and are rider replaceable.

how is this D ring saver applied? What is it used for? Do you have a photo of the D ring saver in use?
DORIS L on Sep 1, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Hi Doris,
The cord portion slips over the stirrup bar in front of the stirrup leather of your english saddle with the brass D pointing forward. This allows you to connect a breast plate or martingale strap to a much more secure D ring than the sewn in D on your saddle. The stirrup bar will not tear out! Also if for some reason your saddle does not have D rings then these can be added so you will have an option to use a D ring. Some people also them to connect a "trouble strap" from one D across to the other for a young rinder to use to hold for security if needed. I have them on all my english saddles so that I will not tear out the factory sewn in D's on my nice saddles when using breast plates. Hope this helps. I do not have a photo, try google images.
Are these attached to ponchos on western saddles?
A shopper on Jun 20, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Not their intended purpose, but could be used that way to secure a rolled poncho behind the cantle of a stock saddle, regardless of the cantle shape.
Typically, D-Savers slip over the stirrup bars on English saddles IN FRONT of the stirrup leathers. Then one can attach the breastplate/breast girth snaps to the Ds on the Savers rather than directly to the Ds nailed into the tree. Literally they save the emplaced Ds from pulling out, as the D-Savers are a stronger point of attachment.
No reason, however, one could not place a rolled and tied/laced-closed poncho behind the cantle, slip the D-Saver through the lacing and then back through itself and secure the open D end by typing off a saddle string on each side of the cantle. Should work just fine.
Do these come with brass rings?
A shopper on Nov 19, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes they come with rings. I had the same question when I bought mine. I don’t know why they don’t update the photo.
why is shipping & handling $9.39 for 1 item weighing 1 pound?
A shopper on Jul 11, 2015
BEST ANSWER: they go on your stirrup bar. to get them on take the stirrup off then slid the d-ring saver on and then put the stirrup back on. works great
