I am training a colt and for the first stages of training, before I move on to competing, it is more affordable to order the equipment at a better price until I move on to the next stages.

It was a really great deal! I would have gotten separate martingale and breastplate for more then this set.

I like these breastplates because they have a bit more flexibility for schooling. They are well made, and the attachment that comes with it is extremely durable and easily moved to a fully leather breastplate

Is the martingale permanently attached or is it removable?
A shopper on May 28, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It is removable!
does this fit a smaller size horse?
A shopper on Nov 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hi
Yes I would think so. It unfortunately did not fit my horse as he is 18.2h KWPN so was disappointed.
Does this item have a wither strap??
Flash on Jul 21, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it has a strap over the withers.
Can you show in this?
A shopper on Apr 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Although the quality is not exceptionally good. It is definitely good enough to show in and use for everyday. I
Wouldn't use it at Rolex but would use it at a state level.
How does this attach to the girth?
A shopper on Sep 7, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It slides around the girth. However I just added a carabiner to the end to I can clip it to the center girth ring.
Does this help with head tossing? What is it used for?
Rachel C on Oct 17, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes. Any Martingale prevents head tossing. This is a running Martingale with the reins going through rings. There are some that go from Breatplate to Bridle. The Eventing Breastplate was too big for the horse I got it for, 15.3 hands, so I used the Martingale with a different breastplate.
I think Martingales are used to keep horses from raising their heads to avoid bit pressure. And experienced and skilled trainers don't need them, but I did.
I hope this helps a little. There is more info in books from a library and videos on YouTube.
can you attach fleece to this?
Grace on Oct 17, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes you could attach fleece. it's made of a polyester material so it's soft. it's a breastplate for schooling only anyway.
I have a 17hh american warmblood with a very muscular neck and chest would this fit him?
Beastie on Apr 21, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It fits my 17.1hh thoroughbred with plenty of room for expansion. I am very happy with the fit and quality of this product for the price point. However my guy has an average TB build, he’s is muscular but a bit on the narrow side compared to an American warmblood. I would suggest measuring your horse and comparing against the product specs if they are available tough I think it would likely fit him just fine.
Will this fit my 15.3hh Thoroughbred Gelding?
Lucia D on Jun 14, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It fits my 17.1hh Throroughbred gelding with room to be tightened or lossened. I would think it would fit a 15.3hh TB no problem.
Will this fit my 17hh TB gelding?
Rachel C on Aug 4, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hi Rachel,
I bought this for my 15 H Morgan, I have it set on the smallest settings and it's still a little big, I might try knotting it so it fits him better. Given that, I would think that it will fit your bigger horse well. Hope this helps!
I love this item but the breastplate fits too big/loose on my Arabian. I might keep this one for my Appendix but need to know if I can order another one in COBB size? I don't see a "size" choice.
Mette F on Oct 7, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Unfortunately this item only comes in one size.
