What type of hardware does this have? Brass or steel?
Tamara keller on Jun 17, 2019
BEST ANSWER: mine appears to be brass
How does it connect to girth? I don’t have a ring on mine so I need it to slip over
Sherry J on Jul 4, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It has a loop on the bottom strap that goes between the front legs that the girth goes through.
Could this go with a black saddle?
Lucia D on Jun 14, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Its nice and dark and goes great with both my brown and black saddles.
Will this fit my 800 pounds 15hh horse?
Lica Coelho on Jun 5, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I used this on my halter/cow type QH mare that's 14.1 and 1,000 lbs when actually weighed but tapes at 750 lbs. It's mostly on the smallest settings except around the neck. I had to punch a hole in it where it attaches at the girth, so there's plenty of adjustability.
Will this work on an Australian saddle?
Jan C on Mar 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Certainly, so long as the size will work with both the saddle and the horse. It attaches at the pommel dee rings and to the girth.
Will this work with an Australian saddle?
A shopper on Mar 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I am not as familiar with Austrialian saddles but I believe it would if the rings to attach it are similar to English saddles. I was very happy with this purchase and the quality for the amount I was paying.
what size is it ?
A shopper on Oct 21, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I use this breastplate on my 15.2 quarter horse, there is not much extra room to spare. I have it on the last hole and added small snaps to make it easier to put on my saddle.
Does this clip on onto the girth? Or does it have a loop that slides onto the girth?
Chenoa M on Nov 13, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes this has a loop so you have to put the girth through it.
My horse is about 8 to 900 pounds, will this fit him?
patty on Oct 20, 2015
BEST ANSWER: This fit my mare who weighs ~800-850 on the second to last tightest settings. She's a 14.1 hand QH mare that has a more stocky type build.
does this come with the running martingale? and if so, is it removable?
Marlen H on Sep 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Kincade advises us that yes the running martingale is included, and it is removable. It easily unbuckles from the breastplate chest ring.
I have seen that in the comments for a lot of the more affordable breastplates, and they are saying how they run extremely big. I'm looking for one for my 13.2 hand jumper pony. Do you have any recommendations?
Brooklyn on Sep 3, 2015
BEST ANSWER: You would probably not want this one - it is a full size for average horses 800-1100 lbs. You may wish to consider one available in a cob size such as the Collegiate Raised Breastplate Martingale (item SLT733722).
does this breast plate come in black?
A shopper on Jun 10, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Excellent question!
Unfortunately it does not come in black.
The closest item to this under the Kincade brand is the Elastic Eventing Breastplate/Martingale; the running attachment is removable as well.
It's Item # E006239 if you are interested in looking.
Thanks!
