We are an equine therapy center that serves many different riders of all shapes and sizes. A handful of our clients require a larger seat in a western saddle and a large horse to carry them. Most of our saddles are donated and therefore we don't get to choose the correct fit. We chose this saddle in hopes it will be big enough for both the horse and rider.

The Gullet Width at 8 1/2" was the widest availble

I have a king series western for my quarter horse and I do like it but it's just not wide enough for my draft mare and I want to move away from the english so I found this and bam! Now I am just hoping it fits her good!

for new adopted draft cross...already tried a 10" gullet and wasn't sure whether to go 8" or 9"....and this is 8 1/2...so thought I'd try it. Seems like a good value with pretty good reviews for less money.

What is the gullet size on the saddle?
Mary Ellen V on Jan 2, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Gullet: 8 ½"
Does the saddle come with a back cinch?
A shopper on Dec 22, 2014
BEST ANSWER: No, does not come with a cinch. I just love this saddle! Fits my Clydesdale mare very well and is very comfortable for me. Good quality, I woyld recommend this.
I know this is a draft saddle but would it fit a spotted draft horse and also is this a good quality saddle?

I need a FQHB 8 inch gullet saddle for my stocky quarter horse. He is a big guy for a quarter, though he will be exercising more soon in hopes of slimming him down a bit. But, I will still need a bigger than normal saddle - the bars are my concern, and I am wondering if this saddle will be too big, even for him. And, it states it weighs about 26 lbs. I do not want it any heavier. Any input?

Thanks! Laura

BEST ANSWER: Hi Laura,
I purchased this saddle over the summer and had to return it for poor stitching, when they replaced it, the new saddle was stitched OK but it had no padding underneath to speak of. The draft bars are harsh! My percheron was not comfortable and I wound up getting a refund. I wish I had better news for you but I do not recommend this saddle. I wound up purchasing an Abetta wide flex tree... endurance. Fits like a dream.. it's not a traditional leather saddle but it's comfortable for my horse and I. Hope this helps.
Okay so I have a (18.1 hh) Belgian gelding (10 yrs old) and I thinking about buying a 17.5 saddle would that be big enough and does it come with a back cinch? And since he's old should I buy a 30x30x2 saddle pad or the standard 30x30x1 saddle pad I weight 115lbs and I'm only 13 and I want the best for him?!?
A shopper on Dec 22, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I use this saddle and a 1" thick pad (5star wool pad - highly recommend) for my 18hh Percheron mare. Keep in mind that the 17.5" is only a measurent of the seat, so it might be big for you if you only weigh 115lbs. Also, I think 2" this pad can sometimes be worse because your adding more thickness under the tree so in a way it makes the saddle fit tighter - less room for the withers. Hope that makes some sense and good luck!
is there any pics of the front of this saddle im looking for a wide spread for a quarter horse i tried a 15 with a 8 in gullet but the swell was hit before it would sit on the horse . is this beig a draft have a wider swell " or am i going to have to go to a 10" gullet ?
Jay T on Mar 22, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I would say it is a wider gullet and an 8" should be fine. This fit my 29 hand Belgian great. His withers is very prominent.
how do I measure seat size on this saddle?
A shopper on Mar 3, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Seat sizing for Western saddles are measured from the Horn base or bottom of the Horn to the Stitch Line at the top of the seat cantle or (just behind your butt if you sat on the saddle, look for the stitching that goes around your seat). If the Saddle has a thick padding in the seat, some people measure to where that is instead of the stitch line, (they say the saddle is padded to a __ size.) English Saddles are measured from the Metal Button (on the front of the Pommel) to the Back of the Seat at the middle of the saddle. Kasey
I see that you offer free shipping. If this saddle does not fit our horse, do you send a return label also with free shipping? What is the current price of this saddle? We will need a 17.5. Thanks!
cowgirl d on Dec 21, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I had to return the saddle the first time I purchased it because of poor stitching too. But they emailed me a return label and I just took the box to UPS. Don't mean to be indelicate but the seat size would depend on your seat size.
I know this a draft saddle but would this fit a spotted draft horse and is this saddle good quality?

I would like to have this saddle but you don't ship to Quebec.
Are you sure that you can not ship to Quebec?
A shopper on May 15, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Correct - unfortunately this item is not available for shipment outside the USA.
I have a very broad backed Foxtrotter and have had one heck of a time fitting her with a proper saddle. Tucker measured her as wide close to X wide. I need light weight due to an arm (horse related) arm injury. This mare is extremely sensitive and lets you know when a saddle doesn't fit. So far I've tried 4 and none work. Would this saddle be OK for this type of horse?
GAYLA N on May 5, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Unfortunately, without knowing and seeing the horse in person, this is very difficult to determine. This saddle features an 8 1/2" gullet and weighs approximately 26 lbs.
where are these saddles made?
A shopper on Apr 20, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The manufacturer is located in Indianapolis, IN. However, some materials may be imported.
