this saddle looked good
i was so excited to get the draft saddle then very disappointed to see the tree was crooked. I sent it back rite away. State Line was great about my return.
Crooked Tree
I knew this was a lower quality saddle when I bought it. Any saddle from the Tough 1, King, or JT International is all the same supplier, and they are imports. But, they are economy, and sometimes you get lucky.Pros:1. Seat is very comfortable.2. Nice looking!3. Ties and rings for strapping things on to. The only ring it doesn't have is for a crupper. The cons:1. Very stiff leather. Plan to oil it up several times and train the fenders.2. My tree is slightly crooked.3. Would not recommend for a wide draft. I have full Belgians, 18 hands, 2000 lbs. It barely fits my lean one.4. BUY A CINCH!!! It came with a tiny, pony cinch. Worthless to me. I also bought nylon billets, as the stiff leather ones it comes with really cause the tips to stick out. Time will probably improve it, but I got tired of waiting. There is no back cinch. One other tip, buy the saddle and see the color before trying to order matching tack. It is a surprisingly uncommon color. Durability: 4
Tough 1
I brought this saddle for the " King" name, but it is not branded King but has Tough 1 imprinted on the back side of the cantle and on the stirrup fenders. It is heavier than advertised and has a 81/2" gullet rather than 9"Otherwise it is working out well for my QH with mutton withers and huge shoulders.
Wow saddle came in 3 days!! Quality comparison to price very good.It was a gift for my husband and he was very satisfied with seat feel. It fit our Belgian Draft like it was made for him. Thanks for a great product at a great price! Durability: 4
Ok but not great product
My main complaint and why I returned the item is it is sold as a draft saddle, but tree was narrower than other draft saddle I have seen and it simply did not fit my Perch cross.....the tree was about equal to that found on the wide synthetic Big Horn roper...which is a wide Quarter horse tree. Durability: 3
Good fit for my draft cross :)
This is a nice saddle for the price. Seems to fit my Clyde's / Qh cross very well. I have not ridden in this saddle on long trails yet but it seems to fit me well too. I would recc this Saddle for someone who has a hard to fit draft horse !! Durability: 3
Great Saddle
The first time I received the saddle, the seat was not sewn properly. I was able to return it with no problems and a new one was sent. The seat on the new saddle was in good shape. The tree is wide enough for my KY Mountain Saddle Horse and fits on my Appendix Quarter Horse as well. The seat is comfortable and the saddle rides well on my horse. The price was the best of the 3 stores I compared. Durability: 4
King Draft saddle
I do alot of long distance riding and trail riding. plus I also train and just pleasure ride. I found this saddle to very well suited for all aspects of my activities. i have recommended it to friends. Durability: 5
Quality saddle at a really affordable price.
I've only been using this saddle for 3 weeks and it feels broke in already. It fits my horse well, which is the MOST important thing to me. The price is fantastic for the product! Durability: 5

16.5" yes but, it is too small for my half draft. Front cinch was only 26" other than that it is comfy, haven't used it much this yr due to surgery
This item comes with the off billets to attach a back cinch but it does not come with the cinch itself.
No, mine did not come with a cinch for the buck strap. Just the strap as pictured.
Yes it does - it is rather simple and I got a nicer one later

I need a FQHB 8 inch gullet saddle for my stocky quarter horse. He is a big guy for a quarter, though he will be exercising more soon in hopes of slimming him down a bit. But, I will still need a bigger than normal saddle - the bars are my concern, and I am wondering if this saddle will be too big, even for him. And, it states it weighs about 26 lbs. I do not want it any heavier. Any input? Thanks! Laura
BEST ANSWER: Hi Laura, I purchased this saddle over the summer and had to return it for poor stitching, when they replaced it, the new saddle was stitched OK but it had no padding underneath to speak of. The draft bars are harsh! My percheron was not comfortable and I wound up getting a refund. I wish I had better news for you but I do not recommend this saddle. I wound up purchasing an Abetta wide flex tree... endurance. Fits like a dream.. it's not a traditional leather saddle but it's comfortable for my horse and I. Hope this helps.

I think you will like the King Draft Saddle. I have a KY. Mtn. Saddle horse and though he's not real stocky I needed more room in the gullet. This saddle fits very well. Even if he loses some weight, your QH will probably not lose where the saddle rests on his withers and back. I probably would have got the 16" seat but it was out of stock and I needed a saddle pronto. The weight of the saddle doesn't seem like 26 lbs. But if it is, it's not too cumbersome. I really like the feel and the looks of it. Hope that answers your questions. Feel free to answer back if you need more info.
This fits my 19 HH Belgian. He has an 8" gullet requirement so it works great. It is 26 lbs truly.
I don't have the gullet measurement, but I would guess it's too wide for a stalky Quarter. It fits nicely on our 1800# Belgian for comparison. It is heavy like the site says but it is of nice quality.
Thank you for your response. Not sure what to do considering the answers I have, but I will figure it out. Thanks again!
Thank you so much, Crystal!! I will look at the Abetta you mention. Really appreciate your input!
Sounds too big for my horse. Thank you for the info!
I am happy with mine. I would recommend it.

Okay so I have a (18.1 hh) Belgian gelding (10 yrs old) and I thinking about buying a 17.5 saddle would that be big enough and does it come with a back cinch? And since he's old should I buy a 30x30x2 saddle pad or the standard 30x30x1 saddle pad I weight 115lbs and I'm only 13 and I want the best for him?!?

BEST ANSWER: I use this saddle and a 1" thick pad (5star wool pad - highly recommend) for my 18hh Percheron mare. Keep in mind that the 17.5" is only a measurent of the seat, so it might be big for you if you only weigh 115lbs. Also, I think 2" this pad can sometimes be worse because your adding more thickness under the tree so in a way it makes the saddle fit tighter - less room for the withers. Hope that makes some sense and good luck!

I bought this saddle (17.5) for my draft cross (Shire/Thoroughbred) He is 18.3 hh, a little narrower than a full draft. He is hard to fit and I was hesitant to by a full draft saddle because he is not a wide as a draft. We have been very pleased with the saddle, it fits him well, but my husband rides in the saddle most of the time and he is 6'4" tall. I also ride in this saddle, not as much as he, but feel comfortable enough using. I normally ride in a 15 seat, so a 17.5 seat is much bigger. We use 30x32 pad that is built up in the shoulders, he has a high wither. Hope this helps you make your decision.
This saddle does include a back cinch. The 17.5 part is the rider's seat size and is not really part of fitting the horse. I doubt you need a seat that large for your stated height and weight. The gullet width (8.5") and the skirt size (27" x 13.5") are more useful measurements to help decide if this saddle will fit your horse. We always highly recommend that someone experienced in saddle fit assist you and your horse in person. Please also see the full product description for other measurements and features to help you decide.

is there any pics of the front of this saddle im looking for a wide spread for a quarter horse i tried a 15 with a 8 in gullet but the swell was hit before it would sit on the horse . is this beig a draft have a wider swell " or am i going to have to go to a 10" gullet ?
BEST ANSWER: I would say it is a wider gullet and an 8" should be fine. This fit my 29 hand Belgian great. His withers is very prominent.

Hi I have a draft cross and it was too narrow, I went to a wide tree roping saddle from Big Horn and it fit perfect!
thanks everyone for the info

how do I measure seat size on this saddle?
A shopper
on Mar 3, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Seat sizing for Western saddles are measured from the Horn base or bottom of the Horn to the Stitch Line at the top of the seat cantle or (just behind your butt if you sat on the saddle, look for the stitching that goes around your seat). If the Saddle has a thick padding in the seat, some people measure to where that is instead of the stitch line, (they say the saddle is padded to a __ size.) English Saddles are measured from the Metal Button (on the front of the Pommel) to the Back of the Seat at the middle of the saddle. Kasey

I see that you offer free shipping. If this saddle does not fit our horse, do you send a return label also with free shipping? What is the current price of this saddle? We will need a 17.5. Thanks!
BEST ANSWER: I had to return the saddle the first time I purchased it because of poor stitching too. But they emailed me a return label and I just took the box to UPS. Don't mean to be indelicate but the seat size would depend on your seat size.

I have a very broad backed Foxtrotter and have had one heck of a time fitting her with a proper saddle. Tucker measured her as wide close to X wide. I need light weight due to an arm (horse related) arm injury. This mare is extremely sensitive and lets you know when a saddle doesn't fit. So far I've tried 4 and none work. Would this saddle be OK for this type of horse?
BEST ANSWER: Unfortunately, without knowing and seeing the horse in person, this is very difficult to determine. This saddle features an 8 1/2" gullet and weighs approximately 26 lbs.
