Product Summary:

Kool Kurtains 36-inch Panel Natural Weave

Cool off your barn and sheds with Kool Kurtains. They're made from CS80, CSTechnologies' exclusive proprietary fabric that is extremely durable, breathable, weather-resistant, flame-retardant, anti-microbial, and has been scientifically tested and certified to deflect up to 80% of the sun's heat rays while simultaneously screening out bugs and birds.*

Kool Kurtains provide a cooler and healthier environment for horses and people, and also reduce the health risks associated with mosquitos and flies. By keeping out insects, you reduce the money normally spent on fly sprays and insecticides, and also help reduce your use of barn fan to save on energy costs. Airflow will minimize the opportunity for the growth of mold and mildew. The natural weave color will let more light in than darker colored curtains.

*Note: Percentage of deflection varies with the angle of the sun.

  • Keeps barns, stables, stalls, and run-in sheds cooler by deflecting heat of sun's rays
  • Helps screen out insects
  • Saves energy costs
  • Allows for airflow

i need 12 feet tall panels, is that possible?
nancy c on Jul 29, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Unfortunately the longest length available is 10 ft.
Are they water proof, will they keep out the rain?
Catherine S on Jan 23, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I do believe that they keep the elements out, but for us and the way our barn is situated if there is any kind of wind they blow and so we do notice that we get wet (rain or snow) at the entrance going into their stalls, but not back in past the entrance. We really like them a lot, and I do feel that they are waterproof.
How do you attach these curtains to the doorway?
A shopper on May 12, 2015
BEST ANSWER: we screwed them in using a good size screw with a washer. They are made very nicely and have plenty of grommit's for securing to the door frame.
Our run-ins get sun shining directly into opening at the peak heat of the day. I’d like to better understand the note indicating that cooling temp depends on sun? Will these trap the heat inside the run-in with direct sun ?
JaneE on Jul 9, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Not sure if this answers your question. I have them at the one end of the barn where it gets very afternoon intense sun. I do have other doors open on the back side for ventilation. I can tell you that they do filter the sun and keep it 10 to 15 degrees cooler on those very hot days. Not really sure with no ventilation how they would work except for filtering the intense sun. Mine are white and I do really like them.
Do they have weighted bottoms so they don’t just blow around in the wind?
Karen P on Mar 27, 2019
BEST ANSWER: They’re doubled stitched at the bottom for weight, but on a windy day they do blow around. I have mine at the end of a barn & the horses don’t walk through there by them self’s. They have rings to tie the together that’s how I use mine. Not great tied together if horses are free to go through them themself.
does one color over the other keep the stalls cooler?
lacy b on May 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hi Lacy- I bought the natural color panels thinking the light color would reflect the sunlight and be cooler than the dark color, which would absorb the sunlight and be hotter. Since I don't have any of the dark panels, I can't make a comparison. However, I know that dark colors are much hotter in the sun than light colors because they absorb rather than reflect the light. I hope this will be helpful.
is one curtain long enough to use in a paddock shelter?
Jules on Feb 21, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The panels are 36”x8’ if you measure from the top of the shelter there should be a few inches of space from the ground which would be perfect. I currently have the panels in the front of my barn behind the doors and when opened it helps limit the fly population from coming in. I love them. And planning to order more.
Do you have something for winter?
Nancy R on Sep 1, 2017
BEST ANSWER: For winter, plastic strip doors, the kind used in warehouses and the like, work very well for me. A local industrial or warehouse supply store should have the materials.
How see through are the panels? I don't want to block the sight line where they will be hanging.
Renee R on Jul 26, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It's a mesh, similar to that of a fly mask. So far away you can't see through but up close you can.
do the horses pull them off? Do they last?
d l on Aug 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: We have had no reports of horses being able to pull the Kool Kurtains down. This product receives a 5 star rating from our customers.
