Wanted a simple snaffle bit for my 2 year old mare who is beginning training. The full cheek helps prevent her from pulling the sides of the bit into her mouth.

Training manual suggests full check bars. Not sure about the sweet iron. Reviews indicate it peels and then rusts. That doesn't sound good.

I chose this bit because it simply works! We have another horse that uses this bit and does extremely well. We tried it on our new horse and she responds nicely to it. I would certainly recommend this bit to others!

This is a nice full cheek snaffle, with enough weight in it to let the horse know it is in his mouth even without slobber straps. With slobber straps, it makes an even bigger impression, but does not add to the severity of the signal.

Does this bit run true to size?

Is there a specific bit that is used for jumping? Can this be used for jumping/eventing?
Rachel C on Aug 8, 2016
Best Answer: Any bit can be used for jumping at home as long as the horse "goes well" in it and responds well to it. I've seen horses jumped in all types of bits. For shows, however, depending on the venue there may be restrictions on tack; you would need to check with the Show Association.

Best Answer: I have not seen it in a 6 inch, but have seen it smaller. But I also was not looking for a six inch size.
