my horse gets beet pulp and alfalfa - the extra water he gets from soaking these can make his stool a little loose - this firms everything back up.

Love this product. Very comparable to Smart Pack SmartDigest at a fraction of the price. My horse does not qualify for the colicare smart pack program so no sense paying the extra money for smart digest. I have a PhD in Animal Science and I highly recommend this product.

Helps the digestion of my older horse - she is 29.
Stephanie F on Sep 17, 2018
My horse is 29 and Opti-Zyme has made a big difference in her ability to digest food.
Stephanie F on Sep 5, 2018
Have used this off and on for years. Good to keep on hand should your horse experience a stomach upset.
Claudia J on Jul 25, 2018
I have used this for a couple of years. My mare is 22 years old and I was having a hard time keeping weight on her for a while even though she was eating the proper amount of food. I tried weight builder supplements which did some good. Once I started with the Opti-Zyme she had no more problems. Eating the same amount - no weight supplement - doing great. Coat looks so much healthier and she is feeling fine!
Teresa P on Jul 23, 2018
Because my horse is so sensitive to environmental irritants, I do all I can to boos his immune system.

One horse has a history of gastric ulcers. Opti-Zyme is an instrumental part of his prevention program and the price is right.
Jean T on Mar 10, 2018
My 21 yr old low thyroid, IR, laminitis sensitive gelding began chronic diarrhea a year ago . . . tried everything under the sun - tons and tons of SandRid (which he hates). Having run out of options, figured I take probiotics so why not the horse . . .Finally he has some relief! Been feeding Opti-Zyme for a couple months, and he is nearly diarrhea free!! Highly recommend this product - oh yeah, and he LOVES it!!
Brenda F on Feb 28, 2018
is really great for horses that have loose stool often like my older gelding when stressed from changed environment or feed.
Allicia C on Feb 20, 2018

Over 80 percent of your immune system is in your gut. Need your immune system for good health. Any time an animal is stressed or their health is compromised, feed their gut.

My horse had loose stools for years. I have tried many probiotics for years and finally this one makes his stool normal which he has never had before. It is truly amazing and he will eat it too easily.

I have an adult mare that eats the manure in the pasture. I've heard that adding probiotics can help eliminate the problem. Does anybody know if adding this to the diet could help?
karen r on Oct 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I have a mare that has symptoms of ulcers and a loose stool so i give her Opti-Zyme and U-Gurd and that helps her with her hind gut. Has good formed stool where before was watery. I don't feed grain i feed pelleted
feed so no grain left in the manure. She may be looking for grain left in the manure if you feed grain. My horses will look under manure if left out on the pasture to see if any grass is growing under there. They move the manuer around but they don't eat it. I try to pick it up daily. Hope this can help. May need to ask your vet for answers.
does this come in larger bags?
Arlene K on Oct 5, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I have only seen the one size bag. I feed it daily to horses. It does last quite awhile. What I do is buy like 10 bags at a time and store the extras in a cool dry place (basement); no problems at all with it.
I have a horse who was out on lush pasture all summer and is still on the skinny side. With winter coming I need her to gain some padding, could this help with that?
A shopper on Oct 18, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Can't hurt, might help. I wouldn't try it all by itelf but make it part of a feeding program. Since I am unfamiliar with your pasture, I don't know if lush means high enough water content that is is hard to get enough food on a dry matter basis. I like to address weight gain with more/better food. Pelleted hay is my favorite because it is easy to store and feed and weigh. Different feedstuffs have different availability in locations. Stable Mix pelleted feed is popular around here and there are many different formulations to choose from.
Can you feed it as likd trying to not get colic? Like will it help the odds?
Ringa on Apr 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: This can help but not prevent colic. I have used daily for a pony and mare that would colic every spring, and fall and sometimes even in winter w/new hay. I also provide tons of fresh air, NO stall time, no over grazing which can start a colic. This is a great product that has helped me a ton. Knock on wood I have not had a colic in over 2 years since I began using this product. Keep in mind, I limit my pony and Mare on pasture (2 hrs max) daily, reduced hay intake, I feed ZERO grain, ZERO treats, and they are outside 24/7 w/access to shelter if needed and lots of fresh clean water. They lick their buckets clean with this product too, so it must taste good. Even my vet asked what I was doing. Makes their coats shiny and pretty as well. You can tell they feel better in their guts. No more biting at tummy either. I love this product!
