Because my mare is crabby when in heat
TRACEY S on Aug 5, 2018
We have used this for years on a number of horses who seem jittery or a little more amped up than the rest of the herd. It works wonders on calming horses. We have yet to see it fail on any horse we've given it to. We use it long-term on mares and geldings alike. We recommend it highly. The horses love it. We love the results.
cindy r on Jul 28, 2018
After only using for 4 days, I felt like we took a different horse to the show! She was so much calmer and performed better than ever. I am going to use on my gelding as well. Can't wait to see how his 'nervous nellie' syndrome is conquered.

Can this calm the stud?
A shopper on May 8, 2019
BEST ANSWER: We have had good luck using mare magic on mares and geldings, but we have never used it on a stud. Not sure if it approved for a breeding stallion. You should check with a vet or the manufacturer.
will it help with slowing a horse down and not walking 100mph and being a bratt when you try to saddle?
A shopper on Jan 17, 2019
BEST ANSWER: This does help my mare with her heat cycle. Her cycle does not seem as strong if I have her on this product and her temperament is better. If your mare seems to be a little harder to handle while cycling I would most certainly think that it would be well worth trying to see if it would calm you horse a bit. In my experience it does take the edge off of my mare. I have used this product for a number of years starting her on it normally in Feb/March since the spring/summer heat cycle tends to be a bit stronger and continuing throughout the summer into late fall. You can use year around if needed.
I recently got a mare who is biting every time you get near her. Would Magic Mare calm her down?
Leigh T on Sep 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I have personally only used Mare Magic before a ride more to take the "edge off" and keep my girls more focused on going down the road instead of jumping at every dog bark or rustling in the leaves. And it does just that! I can't promise it will make an ornery horse nice though!
Can you feed Magic Mare to cattle?
Tracy Brandel on Jun 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Mare Magic formulated for use with horses. Please check with your veterinarian before using on any other type of animal.
Do you feed it just as it is or mix it with some grain?
Terri N on Apr 1, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I mix it with a coffee cup full (8 ounces) of Renew Gold in the morning. I have never fed it just as it is or by itself.
I have been feeding it for several years with good results.
Is it safe to mix with other supplements?
A shopper on Feb 28, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It usually is -- it's just dried raspberry leaf. But you should always, always, always check with your horse's veterinarian first to be on the safe side.
Is this product acceptable for show horses? Will it pass drug testing?
A shopper on Feb 24, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Mare Magic will not test positive.
Can you use MM on a 7.5 month filly ?
Janel on Feb 3, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I'm not a vet, but I don't see why not. It is only raspberry leaves, which is a natural regulator of female hormones (in people too!). I have used it with 3 mares (between 4 and 18 years old) who have problems and pain with their cycles, and I have seen very good results, which I would not have believed if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes!
Just wondering, is this okay for stud (stallions) horses?
A shopper on Jan 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Mare Magic is all natural made from dried raspberry leaves. The package says it can be used on all horses. It has helped calm my granddaughter's hyper Arabian mare.
Can you mix this with sweet feed?
Abbie on Jan 14, 2017
I mix the Mare Magic with LS feed for one horse and a sweet feed for another horse. After mine had eaten it for about a month, they will lick it out of my hand. They don't seem at all disturbed about the taste or flavor. I have been using Mare Magic for more than 4 years. I find it sometimes helps geldings have a more mellow attitude.

My mare doesn't like powdered stuff. Is this product powder or pellet form?
Judith B on Sep 10, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Mare Magic is actually dried raspberry leaves and that is exactly what it looks like. It has a fresh fruity fragrance and my mare loves it. I hope this helps.
Do you have to give a scoop every day for it to work? Or, can I use it as needed? For instance the day of a trail ride or show?
A shopper on Sep 6, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Directions for Use:
Feed 1 scoop, 1 time daily.
Loading dose: 2 scoops for first 10 days.
An extra scoop can be fed the day of an activity.
For best results feed all year as Heat cycles will continue throughout the year.
Can I use mare magic on pregnant mare?
anetlee on Jan 10, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I have a mare in foal also, and there are mixed reviews on it. Basically I decided to stop giving it to her as a precaution because some of the research I read said it could possibly make them miscarry and others said they have never had a problem. However from what I have read the say in the last couple weeks to start them back on it as it helps to tone the uterus and could possibly make for an easier delivery.
Does the dose stay the same for a draft horse?
marie b on Jan 3, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The dosage is for an average-sized horse (1000-1200lbs), so I would increase it for a draft.
when do you start to see a difference after starting this product?
Jessie G on May 6, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I myself started to see a change in my mare after about two weeks. My trainer was so happy with the results that she started several other mares on it as well -- however, not all of them responded as well as my horse. I think we wound up keeping two other mares on this supplement along with my own. My girl was still "herself," no overt changes in her personality, but she became noticeably more relaxed and her heat cycles were not nearly as dramatic. You should give it a few weeks to see a difference. I hope it helps you as well!
How long will this last?

My 19 year old AQHA mare has been in a very quiet but perpetual heat for months. The only real indication is flagging, which is continuous. Do you think the mare magic would work to put her back on a regular schedule?
Marty M on Jan 30, 2015
BEST ANSWER: My 29 year old AQHA is really moody, constantly flagging, and perpetually in heat. While Mare magic doesn't pull her out of it completely, it definitely quiets her down and keeps her comfortable. Vet recommended Bute or aspirin for pain on days when she seems ouchy. There is a definite difference in her behavior just on the Mare Magic, though. I use it all winter so it's already in her system when the first estrus comes in Feb. Vet recommended the highest dose - 3 scoops.
Can this product be used on a gelding? He is a nervous nelly.
A shopper on Oct 13, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Hello, this item is listed as being able to use on Geldings.
I have an extremely spooky mare, and have looked into different products. Will this make her more calm? It gets to the point where my whole ride is her focusing on that one scary thing.
Marissa B on Jan 30, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Mare magic is not for "spooky" horses. It is used to keep the hormones mares go though when cycling. With this being said we used it during our show season and it does work. Takes about 3 weeks to start seeing effects. I also use it on my geldings. As far as her being on edge may have something to do with your uneasiness. She is picking up on your nerves. What does she spook at? Work her more on the ground with plastic bags, Music, ect. I hope this helps you. Learn to trust her instinct and don't fight her over everything's she feels nerves. Ride with a group that is less antsy on the trails
