Product Summary:

Med-Vet FLIES-A-WAY™

FLIES-A-WAY™ contains all natural ingredients to help repel biting insects. Diatomaceous Earth (DE), an all-natural element used for over 400 years to help control insects, is added to help prevent fly larvae from hatching in the manure. When fed, the product passes through the horses system into the manure. The sharp edges of the DE cut the outer layer of the insect's exoskeleton, causing dehydration.

I have two horses who will eat this in their pelleted feed mixed with water, however I have three horses that I have not been able to get to eat it! It does seem to help some on the two horses who will eat it. I bought 10 lbs, pretty expensive and will last a long time for the two horses! If you plan to try it get the smaller size until you know your horses will eat it.

Med-Vet Fly-away
This is the first time I have used this product. When I opened the container the order of GARLIC hit me hard! Other than the fact it's so smelly, I'm not having a big problem with flies......yet. Hopefully this helps. The horses eat it so I guess it's palatable. At least my picky mare didn't snort at it. :)

Don't buy it
The product smells terrible. None of my 4 horses will touch it and mine are not picky eaters. The entire barn smells of the stuff. Trying to air it out a little hoping it won't be so bad. Not sure what to do with it.

I have my horse on exceed 6 way and also Levelor, last year I started himon Flies Away and my roommates horse was started on garlic and ACV she had purchased separately and gave to her horses as a dressing, not only did my horse have less flies than anyone else, he didn't get hives in the spring which is usual for my sensitive thoroughbred. I just can't say enough about the quality of MVP products, and as a licensed Vet Tech employed at Cornell, it takes a lot to impress me. It did take my horse a few feedings to get past the smell, as it has a strong odor and his feed is wet from the beet pulp, but I have him outside so it was either he ate it or he went without...he had a change of heart witin 3 feedings, and never turned up his nose again.

Most effective feed through I have used.
I had tried several garlic, thiamine, etc feed through products in an effort to control biting insects for my horses. This one is by far the most effective. It's particularly effective against chewing gnats and mosquitoes. It even keeps away ticks. I never use fly spray before turn out. I do use two scoops a day during the worst part of fly season but spring and fall I get by with one scoop. The product is a little pricey but I save lots on fly spray.

Excellent Product
I've tried several other "feed through" products to eliminate flies and Med-Vet Flies-A-Way works better than any other product I've tried. We've had an extremely hot summer and that usually means lots and lots of flies. This year, using this product the flies have been at an absolute minimum. I'm very satisfied.

While not all the flies have disappeared, this product has reduced them significantly better than any other product I have used.

My horses wouldn't touch it at first. I had to start with just 4 or 5 pellets and build up to a full dose. Although it doesn't keep all the flies off the horses, there are definitely fewer both on their bodies and in the barn. The giant horse flies in particular seem to be a lot fewer in number. Still looking for something that keeps ALL the flies off, but until then, this is the best I've found.

I've been using this product for about 2 years and it seems to be very effective. The smell is horrible, but my horses don't seem to mind, and the flys do.
