Mountain Horse Rimfrost Rider III Boots
I love these boots. Searched high and low for good sturdy winter riding boots with WIDE calfs. I did order a size larger to fit my larger calves, but these are comfortable, durable, a bit hard to get into stirrups, since they are they but all good. Boots are high cut for me but probably I have shorter legs. I'd buy them again.

The boots are very worm but the top strap needs to be longer so it will snap.

I highly recommend these to people in extremely cold climates
I am riding in my Mountain Horse Rimfrost Rider II boots every day since they arrived. These boots are super comfy on my feet, warm and great to ride in. I like the thickness of the soles and know these boots will keep my feet warm and dry even in the climate I live in with temperatures at 35 below and 5 ft of snow on the ground. I was worried about buying boots online, but these are the best fitting boots I have.

Well made but run a little small
I ordered an size 11, I am normally a 10.5, but wanted to give room for winter socks. I feel they are a small size 11, they are snug with a normal sock. They look to be well made.

VERY tight fit in foot
The "W" fit, which I took to mean a wide foot sizing refers to the calf sizing, as shown on the box the boots arrived in. Even though I ordered the "W" size, the footing was not wide: the heel was tight and the instep too tight. Not something I could walk around in. I was disappointed. However, the calf was very wide. Returning.

Fantastic
GREAT pair of winter boots. Well-worth the money. Great for barn work AND riding. Comfortable, waterproof and WARM! These beat out all of the other 6 pairs of "winter" boots that I have.

Not for wide feet
I have a women's size 9D (wide) foot. The 9 was too narrow and a bit short for me. I selected the wide calf so I could tuck pants inside, they were a bit big at the calf for my 15" calf. Probably would have rubbed. Stiff at ankle, might have softened in time but I sent them back.

They seem nice so far. Not worn them too much yet.
The fit is tricky on these, but I lucked out. I ordered the 8. Usually I wear a 7 but that would have been way too small. The 8 fit pretty perfect in the foot and zipped right up over boot cut jeans with the wide calf. Very hard to find wide calf boots. I am not sure for warmth yet as it just started getting cold and comfort wise, they are not broke in yet. Wish they offered short, but I guess short people are used to having their boots a little too tall! I think these will be much better than layer upon layer and then putting on half chaps.

Don't fit
They look like durable warm boots but don't fit me. Way too tight around foot and sloppy around calf. Bummer, I had a Mountain Horse pair of winter boots in the past I loved dearly. These are going back.

Do these boots run wide, narrow, or medium? "8R" - is this "size 8m regular?
Nancy on Dec 2, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Hi Nancy. I just submitted a review on these boots but it's not posted yet. 8R is regular width. I got the 8R and I am 5'7 1/2 slender build and normally wear 7.5. My calf is 14" and with my layers of leggings and heavy knit pant or breech they fit like a normal riding boot. Snug but not too tight around around the calf and have wiggle room for toes. I wore mole skin on my ankles to help with rubbing. The zipper is difficult but I put a ribbon tie loop on the pull tab and that helps with easier zip up. They keep my feet warm. I'm happy so far with them and they shipped out fast.
Hope this helps...

can these boots be special ordered in womens size 12?
A shopper on Nov 15, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Unfortunately we cannot do special orders on these boots.
These boots are called "tall boots" so do you have to be taller for these boots to fit? I am only 5'1 but in need of a good winter boot for MN.
ANGELA P on Dec 16, 2015
BEST ANSWER: My boots are size W8, the shaft does come up to the base of my knees, measuring 14 to 14.5 inches from the base of my ankle in the boot. Consider if you would, if you wear a smaller size boot will the shaft be shorter? I had ordered a different style of Mountain Horse boot, it's shaft was to long for me, I shipped them back. I am replacing an older pair of Mountain Horse winter boots of which I have used them almost thirty years. I liked them so well that I wished that they still made them, them without zippers.
Will a size 6 in this boots fit a regular size 5.5 shoe?
A shopper on Sep 10, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I wear shoe size 6.5 to 7 and ordered a size 7. My boots fit perfect. They are really comfy inside with fleece lining. I do not wear thick socks with these boots
I wear a 7.5 in most boots what size would work for me?
A shopper on Nov 27, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I am between a 7 and 7.5 and I purchased an 8. They fit me great. They do seem to run a little small, so if you can sometimes wear a 7 or are on the smaller side of 7.5 I would think an 8 would be good. If you are a true and consistent 7.5 I'd probably get a nine so I can wear thick socks.
Does W refer to the calf or the footbed?
A shopper on Jan 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It refers to the calf. Here is a link to the chart with the measurements:

Do you have size 9?
Emily H on Dec 17, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I bought a size 8 for my daughter for Christmas and they were too small, which surprised me. She is really a 7.5 I think. Otherwise, we loved them.
