Product Summary:

Mustad Thrush Buster®

Here’s a thrush treatment so powerful that it lasts for up to eight days without reapplication... even in the wettest, muddiest terrain. Thrush Buster® stomps out thrush on contact. A single application not only relieves the agonizing, crippling effects of thrush, but dramatically reduces the chances of reinfection.

  • Forms a cleaner barrier and deters the penetration of dirt and manure
  • More effective than commercial preparations yet milder to sensitive tissue than bleaches, copper sulphate or turpentine
  • Can also be used before applying sole pads and silicone to toughen thin-soled feet
Item Specifications:

2 oz.

For thrush, apply only once to all infected areas. For prevention of thrush, use once a week in wet environments and once every two weeks in dry environments.

One single application is usually sufficient for treatment. For treating and preventing thrush. May be used on sole and frog prior to shoeing with pads and silicone.

Water, Isopropanal, Formalin, P.V.P. Iodine Complex, Gentian Violet

While applying, hold hoof where horse cannot strike or kick you or the bottle. If you have doubts which position is safe, ask your veterinarian or farrier to show you. Use in well ventilated area. Vapors may be irritating to skin, eyes, nose and throat. In case of eye contact flush immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes and get medical attention; for skin, wash thoroughly with soap and water. If affected by inhalation of vapor or spray mist, remove to fresh air.
Flammable. Keep from heat, flame or spark.

Best thrush medication on the market.
Elizabeth W on Feb 13, 2018
This stuff works GREAT !!! Thrush areas disappear within a few days. We use it on our horses who are in a soggy environment and have not had any thrush problems while treated. Days later you can still see the purple which lets us know it is still working. We also use it along the white line when the edge of a hoof looks damaged to prevent White Line Disease too. A little bit goes a LONG way and it seems to wick its way up into the damaged tissue really well. We highly recommend it !!!

Kristine G on May 16, 2017
This works good. I don't want to have to do packing and other things daily. I use it once a week and frog is closed. I have not had a case of thrush since I started using it. Why mess around with other products I go right for the gold. My farrier has not told me he has thrush in a long time. Even his walls seem stronger.

Do it once, Do it Right. I uses thrush buster on all of my horses after a trim and for maintenance. Even in wet conditions it stays on and works. No one has thrush! Don't bother with the cheap imitations they're thin and don't last!

Why can't Thrush Buster be sent to California? Can you recommend an alternative product? Thanks
A shopper on Jun 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It looks like any of our other Thrush remedies CAN be shipped to California. Mustad Thrush Buster shows as the only exception.
can this be used on sheep?
Carolyn B on Nov 21, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I'm not really sure but I don't see why not. They're a hooves animal so if they were mine I would do it. Maybe check with your vet just to be sure. I know it works perfectly for my horses!
What is the lasting for this product from Manufactured Date?...I mean...I bought some bottles and all of them have 7/11 as manufacturing date...Should I usenthem still getting the same results?
Jorge Andrés R on Feb 16, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I do not believe this item comes with a expiration date.
how well does this work for White Line Disease?
jillea on Sep 21, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It does help, but I wouldn't use it more than once a week. You don't want to damage healthy tissue by over using it. White line can be an internal issue, so until you treat the whole horse, you will probably continue to have an issue. But this does help.
can thrush buster be used on sheep?
A shopper on Jun 24, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I have horses and donkeys and I used the product on both which worked. I couldn't answer your question on sheep. I would either call the company and ask or ask your vet.
Would this work the same if diluted down and put into a spray bottle?
Matison E on Apr 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I would not do that, as this product is a once a week application and therefore I think should be used at full strength. If you have a bad issue, you can use it every other day until resolved. You don't necessarily need to pick the feet up to apply. Just apply on the outside of the foot at the crack areas, if handling the feet is an issue.
About how many applications are in a bottle?
Sarah on Jun 9, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Hi Sarah - it depends on how many hooves you are treating and the condition of each. I mostly treat mild thrush (live in the Northwest) and use it about once a week in the winter on all 4 feet and for one horse it will last a couple months. When I use on 2 horses for the same amt. of thrush, I can get a month or 2 out of it. Again, using on all 4 hooves once weekly. For more seriously cases, I would say you would get a dozen applications or so. The bottle is small but don't be deceived, a little goes a long way. Hope this helps! -Heidi
