Is this pad actually thicker in the front area to lift it up off the withers?
A shopper on Mar 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the front is slightly built up to provide some relief for high withers and diminished top lines. We also have this pad available in micro-suede if you prefer:

The top is made of princess fleece? What exactly is that? Is it as strong as canvas? Is the fleece black on the black pad?
A shopper on Aug 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The fleece on mine is white and made of man made material. The top material is black with black wear guards, also man made material, not leather or wool. It is not as durable as canvas, but I have used mine for a few years now (trails rides on average 5 hours use a week year round) without issue.
What's the difference between this fleece pad and a micro suede one just like it? Are both of these breathable?
BradnBrianna J on Mar 10, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I'm not sure of the difference as I have never tried suede. I can tell you that the fleece one is not breathable and offered no support to my horse. It's a lot thinner than it looks. I rode with it twice (about4 hours each time) and my girl got 2 saddle sores on each side of her withers. I've considered cutting it open to see what's in it since I'll never use it again. I'll be willing to bet there's not much for padding inside. I wouldn't recommend this pad
how do you know what size to get?
A shopper on Nov 8, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It would depend on the size of your horse and the size of your saddle. I buy 30x30 pads because I have a small endurance saddle. Anything bigger would be way too big for my saddle. But saying that, it also depends on the size of your horse. If you have a small horse (say 13 or 14 hands) you probably want a smaller pad so the pad doesn't swallow your horse.
