It is an approved method of larvicidal treatment for encysted EL3s and L3/L4s, 98% effective in killing hypobiotic encysted EL3s, 96% effective against L3/L4s, and highly effective against the predominant internal parasites of horses: large strongyles, small strongyles (encysted early third stage cyathostomes), late third stage and fourth stage mucosal cyathostome larvae, pinworms, ascarids and arteritis caused by fourth stage larvae of strongylus vulgaris in horses.

  • Widely recognized as the product of choice for treating ascarids in young horses
  • May be effective even in the face of prior fenbendazole resistance when used as part of a strategically designed anthelmintic program

Price point, part of a 3 way rotational worming regimen, is supposed to get rid of large strongyles. My horse is now 33 years old, my other 2 horses lived to be 35 and 38 years old, I think due to regular worming, certain vitamin and mineral supplements and soaked feeds in their old age.

Do all 5 tubes contain exactly the same ingredients? I have a mini and I wouldn't use a whole tube on him. I get 4 applications from 1 regular tube. Should I buy 2 regular Panacur Single Dose tubes and give that to him for 5 days in a row?

how often do you need to worm a horse?
A shopper on Jan 13, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Everyone has a different answer, and I'm not saying my routine is the way that is best but I deworm on a rotational program. I deworm every 8 weeks (2 months) between Fenbendazole, Pyrantel, and Zimectrin Gold or Equimax.
how often do you need to worm a horse?
TIMOTHY E on Jan 13, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It depends on several factors. Most important is whether your horse needs it or not. Talk to your veterinarian. In years past, it just depended upon what part of the country you resided. We used to do a three month rotation. Nowadays, the preferred method is to take a fecal sample to your veterinarian. He/she will have it tested and will set up a proper deworming program specialized to your horse.
my year old colt is on a dry lot with round bale access all day, right now to worm him i use Zimecterin i switch between the 2 every 2 months. would the power pac work better for him?
tianacherokee on Sep 10, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I'm not a vet, but I went to a veterinary seminar about how we're worming too much. They suggested that a worming program should start with a fecal egg count to determine if your horse even needs to be will be determined by that test. And on a personal note as a breeder, I'm not sure that the Power Pac would be indicated for a colt that's only a year old. If you're concerned about his condition (thin, hard keeper, etc.) I would talk to your vet about dietary supplements to the free choice hay, if the fecal count doesn't indicate a worm problem.
Is there a price break for buying multiples?
Bonnie R on Feb 23, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I'm sorry, this item does not have a multi-quantity discount as it is already discounted as low as possible.
How many ounces in a tube?
Annette S on Oct 18, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It has 5 tubes of a PowerPak dose in each tube. You administer one tube per day for five days. This stuff works wonders. You can absolutely dose it out as a normal dose and do multiple horses as well. If you have a problem horse with the specific type of worm load it will make a dramatic difference for your horse. Coat condition, belly, energy level will all return within days.
I have a 2year old that was found to have worms. I was suggested to do the powerpac but is it safe to give him a full syringe each day for 5days straight.?!?!
A shopper on Aug 17, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It is going to depend on your horses size, if it were me I would call your vet just to be sure.
I wormed my horse about 10 days ago and used Qwest he still has not shed out, how soon can I use the Panacure powerpac?
Clay H on Jun 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I talked to the company's vet about timing on this product. It should be a once a year treatment in late fall. He said he did his own horses after the weather turns cold. I definitely would look into other metabolic issues for your horse and not use the Power Pac until at least a couple of months had gone by and you had eliminated other issues as the cause for your horse's condition.
Give one horse the whole pac?
A shopper on May 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: A Power Pac is enough to give one horse a double dose of Panacure for 5 days in a row. This is done, on the advice of your veterinarian if the horse shows signs of worm infestation that requires treatment beyond the usual single dose worming. (Typically, stage III and IV strongyles). You should know your horses weight, and administer a double-appropriate dose, for 5 days in a row. Be sure you are using the correct dose markings on the tubes when figuring how much wormer to give your horse. I have had very good luck with this product.
this product does not give the mg of the active ingredient. Is it the same dose as one tube of the single dose Panacur? The single does is currently on sale for $8.19
Betty D R on Mar 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I apologize that you are unable to locate the downloadable resource. It states the following: Each gram of Panacur (fenbendazole) Paste 10% contains 100 mg of fenbendazole and is flavored with artificial apple-cinnamon liquid.
Purchased 1650lb shire, ; had fecal run upon her arrival....she showed up having a large volume of strongyles: is in separate paddock; Panacur power pac was instructed wormer to use. But double dose which means I'm treating a "3200 lb horse" , which means power pack syringe as well as a single dose for the extra needed every day to fulfill the 3200 lb requirement for 5 day treatment.
Are there any side effects related to the Panacur power pack???
A shopper on Apr 24, 2015
BEST ANSWER: We suggest consulting with your veterinarian.
