I needed a replacement for my Grazier Portable Corral and found this online. Yay.
Sheila C on Feb 24, 2017
Quick and easy to set up, does a good job, my horses are very respectful; have extra batteries to keep with it. My batteries only last about two weeks when on continuous use.

b/c it easily fits into my trailer and I can take it with me to events!
Jenn Z on Jul 2, 2016
Perfect! A D-cell portable corral energizer. So much easier than the 12-volt battery or solar charger. I hope it works.

watt :-) is the output, if it were continuous, how long between batteries, (Will use it for a pump) if pump was turned off at night?
Niklash P on Jul 5, 2015
Best Answer: You change the batteries every six weeks if continuous, not sure if you turn it off at night and use during the day, I suggest you check for power at the 6 week mark. It is a great charger I really like it.

Other than grounding rod, is anything else needed for this to work?
Lynn K on Aug 29, 2016
Best Answer: You just need two D cell batteries for each charger. I also purchased a grounding rod but never installed it.....my metal fences posts are all connected with a ground line between the hot wires. I just connected the green clip to my ground line which took advantage of 30 posts driven into the ground. Works like a charm. I like these units so much that I just use them on my permanent electric fence. 2 D Batteries last about a month.

Do you have to ground the charger?
Leonard T on Sep 22, 2016
Best Answer: Yes, although not as thoroughly as more powerful chargers. Here is a link to Powerfields' installation instructions:

so would this work for making a 30 ft corral for my horse while camping and does it have to be covered?
Deb S on Mar 15, 2017
Best Answer: I have used this fence charged for 2 years around my 30 foot garden to keep the deer, cats and dogs out and plan on using it again this year. My fence is about 3 foot tall with 4 strands of 1 & 2 inch electric tape. It works great! I don't cover the charger. It hangs off an electric fence post. It is weather proof as long as it is facing up, as shown. I don't think you would want the underside/bottom getting wet, water may then seep into the battery compartment? I would use this for a camping horse corral if I wanted. This is a nice small portable easy to use well built charger. Hope this helps.

Do you have to use 4 strand polytape only, or can it be 8 strands or more?
Taftsy on May 22, 2017
Best Answer: 8 strands, what are you containing?!? It depends on the distance. I use this for camping with my horse, I only use 1 strand of polytape on a 20 X 20 pen. I think you need a bigger charger, but check with manufacturer for miles of fence you can use on.

DOES THIS WORK WITH THE ELECTRIC TAPE?
Deb S on Mar 22, 2017
Best Answer: Electric tape shouldn't be a problem. The vises clamp to whatever type of electric fencing you are using, and electrify it, same as a direct current or solar charger would. You may want something like a metal plate across the end to get connectivity across as many of the strands as possible, but it packs a good punch for small spaces no matter what you use.

is it safe for dogs?
Shane F on Mar 18, 2015
Best Answer: I'm not sure, works good for the horses, have a short fence area not controlled by another charger that I use this one, does last 8 weeks on batteries, would be better to contact the manufacture about for dogs.
