Is this made to fit a mule and is it made for civil war reenactors?
jim l on Nov 30, 2013
BEST ANSWER: We had a couple of real calvary saddles in our barn when I was young, and I rode my Welsh ponies with it, and it fit them just fine. There is a split down the middle of the seat, so I would assume that they would fit almost any rideable animal!I'm no expert, but you could email the company that makes them. I'm sure they could advise you much better and more accurately tham me. Good luck!
What is the best pad to use with this saddle?? I was looking at the barrel type pads but does it need to be longer due to the drop ring rigging??
Tracey D on Aug 8, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I just use a standard square-ish (30x32) Western pad with mine, and have not had any issues with the ring rubbing. However, I only use the saddle for short periods of time (Cavalry class competitions). You may want to consider a dressage-style or Aussie-style thin pad under your barrel pad, if your horse has issues. Note: The girth that ships with this saddle is really long, way too big for my 15h QH. You may want to get a shorter girth, taking into consideration the extra length of the drop rigging.

BEST ANSWER: This saddle is manufactured in India.
I’ve ridden all my life western and Australian. Never in a cavalry saddle. Will this be a good trail saddle and will it fit thoroughbreds?
A shopper on Jan 25, 2019
BEST ANSWER: It is my understanding the real original McClellan saddles were designed to fit any horse, donkey, mule. This is a reproduction. Still should fit any build. I ordered one but had to return it because my body did not fit in the seat! Fits and equine, but not every human body!
What does it mean by Drop D rigging? Would this be a good, comfortable, reliable trail saddle?
Callie L on Nov 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This saddle actually has a center fire rigging. It is not necessarily the most comfortable trail saddle. If you're looking for comfort, you might look toward endurance saddles. A good one to check out is our Lady Gait saddle. Its perfect for gaited horses and trail riding. Its also build with a smaller twist which is ideal for women.

Would this fit a Tennessee walker and is this saddle comfortable enough for trail rides? Also, does it have western rigging?
Callie L on Nov 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It is always best to check with a local trainer or person experienced in saddle fitting if you are unsure what will work for your horse. This saddle is rigged western with a center fire rigging.
Do you have 16 inch seat?
B D on Oct 23, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Unfortunately this saddle is available in a 15 inch seat only.
