Even though I am not a novice rider, I love these reins because my horses have LOTS of mane (which obscures the reins), and the colored sections reassure me that I have them the proper length. The rubber is also nice and grippy, with or without gloves. I suppose they're considered unstylish or juvenile in some circles, but I don't care because they WORK for me.

Do these start to melt in the heat?
Sheri on May 29, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I've had many pairs of rubber reins over the past 20 years; they will EVENTUALLY melt, but it will take years!! These reins make it very easy for riders to see where their hands are and they don't slip -
Do these start to melt in the heat?
A shopper on May 29, 2018
BEST ANSWER: yes, but after about 3-4 years!
Would this size work for a pony?
carolgene on May 11, 2017
BEST ANSWER: If they are a little long, they are easily adjusted. We use them on full size and miniature horses. Our students and instructors love them.

What color is the leather?
A shopper on Apr 11, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Dark brown- these reins are great!!!!!! The leather is nice, perfect length! I can't stand super long reins! Rubber is nice and hefty! Non slip! Need to ride with gloves pretty rough on your hands. But I never ride without gloves anyways! Love these!
