Niece loves it!
These fit my 7 year old niece well. I got the small. They will work for the year, but were smaller than I expected. However, note that I did not measure her before buying.So far, durability is great. She has worn them for the entire show season and uses them multiple times a week to ride.

Fantastic Chaps that look just like a field boot
I bought these because kiddo is growing like a weed and we wont show until spring. This works perfectly until show time, but are legitimately much more lovely than typical schooling chaps. I would say that at some schooling shows, they could be worn with matching color paddocks. We are super relaxed down here in Arkansas.

Really like these chaps
I read the reviews and wasn't sure what I was going to get. My 6 yr old is very tall. We've had a hard time finding chaps that fit her. They also needed to be light and easy on and off. These chaps are exactly that. She loves them.
You get what you pay for.
Attractive,easy care but not durable. They were worn twice for light riding then taken to a 4 day horse camp. Both came back torn in the same area (flap that covers the front of the paddock boot) and one had a large area of broken stitching. My daughter will continue to wear them until they fall apart completely but we will not purchase again.
Children's chaps
I like these chaps, they are washable, they are tight fitting but not too tight and they are higher on the lower leg.
Outstanding fit on my skinny, little girl
I worried that these would sag around the calf. They fit perfectly!! My daugthter is a 62 pouond 10 year old. who is super picky about her clothes. She loves the way these look and fit!!
Zipper is the problem
The zipper broke very easliy, does not last longer than 6 months. The elastic is coming off as well. I would rather pay more and get a stronger zipper
Works probably ok, but oh the bad smell.
I ordered these for my daughter after reading the reviews and I thought that they would be great for her based on what folks have been saying. When I got them however, I could not believe my nose, the smell of cheap plastic/rubber/fake leather was extremely overwhelming, I should call them fumes really. I am not particularly sensitive to smells and I guess if they are natural smells they are bearable, but with these chaps here I got an almost instant headache. I had to send them back, because two weeks after having taken them out of their plastic bag to air out they still did not lose their toxic smell! If the smell does not bother you then these may be a good option, but for us it was way too much.
Great half chaps
I am 10 years old they were very tight at first but they stretched a bit they did not zip all the way over my paddock boots but they were still very comfortable. I got a sz M.
Bought these for my granddaughter with the paddock boots. She loves them. Very happy with the purchase
really nice
this is my first pair of half chaps and I actually really like them. it looks like a tall boot from far away. I'm really shirt with big calves so the medium was a little hard to zip up but the height was perfect. the leather is not like amazing but for the price it's expected. it's a goo pair of chaps for lessons and maybe people who are starting to ride. I imagine it would last me quite a while. they're also super warm. the only thing I would say is my paddock boot is quite large to they take a lit of effort to zip all the way down. but once you get it. it's very snug

My daughter lost a chap and we decided to try something different (she liked the Dublin Easy Care/Child's L). Decided to try these in a Child's L and although she was not used to the slightly "tight zip" (more like my custom leather chap), she likes the look/shape and they do a good job of gripping. Description says they are "synthetic suede", but really "synthetic leather". Zipper runs up the back for a clean look. Don't know how long they will last as this is our first pair, but they look well made - zipper and snap seem sturdy.

Got them for x-mad for my son the shipping took a while because they were put on back order for a bit,but he loves them. Says they make him a better rider. If you are looking for a good price. These are the chaps to pick up. I am very pleased.
Best chaps ever!
IF you are looking for chaps these are the ones! They can go through all kinds of weather, and if you get dirt on them it comes off! I think the chaps run small, i measured a small and there really really tight.

BEST ANSWER: Depends on the size of the calf. My daughter was age six when she wore these, but outgrew them by age 7. She's a big girl. I know skinny 12 year olds who wear size smalls in these. My suggestion is measure the calf width

If her legs are slim .. Yes a small, they do run tight
