Tough-1 420 Denier Turnout Sheet
Available in several vibrant colors, this sheet is great for that sudden rain shower at the show, camping, trail riding, or just out in the pasture.

70 Denier Poly lining prevents rubbing and helps to keep the coat shiny while preventing hair, shavings, and straw from sticking to the inside of the blanket
Waterproof coated outer shell with taped seams and seamless spine repels water to keep your horse dry
Designed to allow moisture vapor to wick away from the horse and preventing sweating while retaining body heat and repelling outside coldness
Heavy nylon binding, double sewn to secure material and provide additional durability
Reinforced stress points, double sewn with additional reinforcement to help prevent tears
Fleece wither helps provide protection from rubbing
Velcro secure double buckle front closure featuring rust-resistant nickel hardware
Action shoulder gussets allow for freedom of movement and help to prevent shoulder rubbing
Low cross adjustable surcingles with T-Lock fasteners provide easy adjustability to ensure proper fit (see blanket fitting guide)
Adjustable elastic leg straps help to secure the blanket and prevent from shifting from side to side
Tail cover provides additional protection from moisture near tail bone
Item Specifications:
Measuring Instructions:
Stand your horse as square as possible, and measure from the center of chest around side of the body to the point of the horse's rump just before the tail. If your horse ends up measuring between sizes always round up to the next size to ensure full coverage.
Washing Instructions:
Machine wash with cold water, gentle cycle with mild detergent. Air dry or machine dry/no heat.
Horses Turned Outside Without Shelter:
Turnout Sheet and Blanket materials are waterproof and designed to keep your horse dry. However, if your horse is turned out in a field without a run in shed or shelter during prolonged rain or heavy downpours your horse may still get wet, especially in the neck and tail areas.
When using a blanket or sheet it is critical to monitor the fluctuating climate and temperatures, even with a blanket that is waterproof and breathable. The wicking properties of a breathable blanket are designed to wick away normal body heat; when a blanket is too heavy, the heat and moisture cannot be wicked away fast enough, causing your horse to sweat. The temperature and the length of your horse’s coat will determine what weight of blanket you should use. For this reason, most people who choose to blanket horses have several articles of horse clothing that offer varying levels of warmth.
When selecting a blanket, ,take into account your horse’s behavior, environment, or other horses that may be turned out with your horse. The lower the denier number, the less strength the material has. 420 Denier and 600 Denier are not recommended for horses that bite, chew, or rub on blankets, or for horses turned out with a companion or in a group. Always ensure your horse’s blanket is properly fitted and all straps are adjusted correctly. If a blanket is too tight or too loose, straps may break and material may tear.
For younger horses or horses turned out with a companion or in groups, it is recommended to purchase 1200 Denier or 1680 Denier material, as these are stronger materials and are less likely to tear. Certain types of fencing such as barbwire or foreign objects, such as nails, will easily tear any blanket no matter what the denier, so always inspect the area in which your horse is kept to remove any nails or jagged fencing that may cause damage. There are no horse blankets that are guaranteed to not rip or tear.

Really good quality
This is a beautiful turnout sheet. I wanted something that was warm but not really heavy as we are in South Carolina. This sheet has adjustable straps and does keep my mare covered well. Now that we are getting cold weather (for the south) I know she will be warm with this sheet. It is a well made turnout sheet and well worth the money

Great product!
I wanted these sheets to keep my horses dry and to keep some of the mud off them. And they did just that I am very happy with this product and would buy again and again, and highly recommend these sheets. My pony is very hard on blankets and sheets and so far it has held up well! The sizes fit just right and colors are bright!

The fit is spot on and the material is waterproof but also feels really thin and is crinkly like a trash bag. Luckily the noise does not seem to bother my horse. I'm not sure how durable it will be.

Nice light weight protection
Great protection from dirt, wind or rain. I think it would get hot in the summer sun. Light weight for early spring, fall.

Not the worst, not the best
The sheet will work for what I need it for but wasn't thrilled that it feels so much like plastic. Not sure it will breathe like I thought it would.

Turnout sheet
Use it for my 33 year old Arabian stallion who has never grown a winter coat. I use this for rain and for sudden temperature changes when blankets are too much. Great material, he stays dry and he is out all the time.

If you are looking for a rain sheet
I'm not happy with the order I placed with Stateline Tack! The product was not what I expected, the description was not detailed enough and I was under the impression that this was lined. The shipping was horrible!!! They didn't deliver to my door but placed a card in my mail box to pick up at the post office. Post office had the item for a couple of days prior to me receiving the pick up (tracking number) card! Durability: 4
Great product!
I have two large mares & these fit them a little loose but well. The pink was a great shade. Comfort: 4 Durability: 3
Great quality for price
Great product for the price. Very durable and looks nice as well. I would say it ran slightly small, but would absolutely reccomend to anyone. Comfort: 4 Durability: 5
great product for the money
this is the cheapest sheet on the market and still holds up great. i love the bright colors. it fits my pony a little bit loose but he is a weird size anyway. Comfort: 5 Durability: 5
Nice blanket
Nice blanket for a great price (I got it in sale). Fits my daughter's POA nicely. Holds in heat and fits nicely under blankets as an extra layer. Comfort: 4 Durability: 5
Not waterproof!
I bought one of these for each of my three horses. The color selection is great and the price unbeatable. Unfortunately, they are not waterproof. Not even water resistant. The first sheet I took out was missing the rubber stoppers on the buckles. Not a big deal, but I couldn't help but wonder if it was a previous return, since the other two blankets had them and were folded differently. Unfortunately, after about 10 hours of a very slow but steady drizzle, all three of my horses were soaked! This was very disappointing to me. I realize that for a cheap price it may not be perfect, but they were so wet they may as well have not even had them on. Tough-1 couldn't even realistically call these blankets water resistant, let alone water proof. Since the weather is bad over the next few weeks and I don't have time to order new ones, I went to the store and will waterproof them myself, but I definitely expected better. Comfort: 3
The front does not stay in place together under buckles
This product need Velcro on front To hold front together under buckles. Otherwise nice & light for my horse to wear during hunting season Comfort: 4 Durability: 1
Great Turnout Sheet
Great sheet for the price! Fits true to size. I have an Oldenburg who can be tuff on his sheets & he loves it.. It has held up well. Thinking of purchasing another. Comfort: 5 Durability: 5
Tough 1 Blanket
Bought this blanket for my small gelding, 69" Orange. Absolutely love it. tough enough to withstand snow, rain, wind, rolling, sticks/twigs, and other horses biting at it. even the barn cats with claws have climbed on his back with this blanket on, no holes to speak of from claws. The color has not faded at all. Only issues I have is that the neck is big, it fits right in the middle of his chest. And it is not 100% waterproof. It does good, but my horse still gets damp. Comfort: 4 Durability: 5
Good Sheet for the Price
The turnout sheet is a bit snug around my horse's hips. However, she is a stock-type horse. It would likely be a better fit for a horse with smaller hips. It is proving to be relatively durable thus far and is a pleasing color. There is plenty of room for adjustment in the front end of the sheet. Comfort: 3 Durability: 3
Good deal on a turn-out sheet
It does as it says. Under the topic of waterproof it says repels water; meaning it's not waterproof. For the price it's a great deal. I've bought others at a higher price that get torn up just as easy. Use it for trailering and for the rain shower you'll be pleased. If you expect them to live in it as protection, build a barn. Comfort: 4
NOT WORTH IT
Bought this sheet for a yearling. She had it on for just a couple hours and it is ripped beyond repair/use. There are no barbed wire fences, trees or anything else in the pasture for it to be snagged on. Definitely not worth the money spent on it!!!
I'm very happy with this purchase!
This turnout sheet kept my horse dry in both rain and snow. Comfort: 5 Durability: 4
Spend a little more on better blanket
Sheet is very thin and seems like it would rip easily. I recommend spending a bit more for better quality. Comfort: 3 Durability: 2
good blanket
True to fit, light weight, durable. Easy to use, horses dont sweat. Comfort: 5 Durability: 5
Not Waterproof
This product is said to be waterproof. It is NOT. Very, very disappointed. Comfort: 1
Awesome
This blanket is great it holds up well. It snags on branches and sticks. Last for about two or three years. Comfort: 5 Durability: 4
not waterproof
I liked this blanket until it rained and my horse got soaked. It is not waterproof. Comfort: 3
Didn't fit in the neck
Now, granted, my horse is a Percheron cross, but her Weatherbeeta, size 81, fits a little loose. This blanket fit body-wise, but she couldn't put her neck down to graze, even if I only closed the lower strap and left the top strap open. Too bad. Comfort: 2

Will this work for horses in 45 degrees to 20 degree weather? Does it have a fill
BEST ANSWER: The sheet has no fill. I use it alone in say a 50 degree rain if my horse is traveling in the trailer or in her stall that I leave open to her paddock. Also it is great for layering, in cold Temps. But again it has no fill so wouldn't use at all for the 35-40 degree range. It's also nice if it's mild Ishmael and you want to keep them relatively clean in the colder Temps. Too hot for summer this. Hope this helps.

I'm up in Seattle area and I usually throw this on our 25 year old mare .. it has been dropping into the low 20's at night and she wears it all day .. it's good quality and it fits great
No. It's basically a rain sheet, no fill at all. I do have one, and it works great for rain in the 40s, maybe even high 30s, but not below that.
It doesn't have any fill. It is really just a rain sheet. Depending on your horse, you might need a blanket under this sheet in cold weather.

How long do these usually last?
BEST ANSWER: I ordered mine early fall and used it fall/spring and it is still holding up perfectly. Easy to clean
BEST ANSWER: I ordered mine early fall and used it fall/spring and it is still holding up perfectly. Easy to clean
I bought this for a filly I had and it was a pretty tough winter and I doubled up on her blankets. This was the top one and it survived a pretty tough beating between rolling and going through the woods. It's thin so if your looking for more heavier I would get something different but it works really well in the barn.
Do you have another horse that's going bite at the sheet? We love ours but do have a biter so the lower the Denier the easier they rip.
I have a 16'3 TB and he was able to use it for one solid yr he made a tear on it last yr so I got him a new one in Nov.
the wear is good, be careful on hot days, the horse will sweat.
Ours is still holding up well. Great deal!

What size does a horse usually wear?
A shopper
on Sep 29, 2013
BEST ANSWER: It all depends on the size of the horse. You would have to measure your horse to determine the size. Basically, all equine blankets and sheets have similar designs. They cover your horse's barrel from withers to tail and hang to just below the elbows and stifles. However, not all blankets or sheets are cut in the same manner. As such, check the manufacturer's measuring guidelines to ensure the best fit of your chosen blanket or sheet. Regardless of the manufacturer's recommendations, however, there are some simple ways to ensure you obtain the correct measurements of your horse. If possible, corral a companion or tie up your horse to help keep her still while you measure her. Then: #1 Ensure your horse stands squarely in a natural position. How to Measure Your Horse for Dress Sheets, Insect Sheets, and Turnout Blankets #2 Stand on your horse's left with the end of your measuring tape in your left hand. Place the end of the measuring tape at the point where your horse's neck meets the center of her chest. #3 Using your right hand, draw the tape along her left side and over the widest part of her shoulder. Continue to draw the tape in this manner for the extent of your reach. #4 Note the measurement. Then mark the spot of your reach with your right thumb. Move down to the spot you've marked with your thumb. Place the end of the measuring tape at this point. #5 Using your right hand, continue to draw the tape along your horse's side and across the point of her buttocks, which is the hindmost part of the quarters and about 10 to 12 inches below where the tail and body meet. Note this measurement. #6 Add your two measurements together to get your blanket size. My horse is a size 78.

75- 16hh to 16.2hh 78 - 16.3hh to 17.1hh 81 - 17.2 - 18hh. That is generally a good size indicator! I havn't used one any bigger or smaller. I have only delt with thoroughbreds or thin warmbloods so girth isnt really taken into consideration. So if you have a 16.2hh horse that is rather beefy, i'd go ahead and get the 78! Hope that helps!!
No two horses are the same. My horse pandora wears a 75 but she is a quarter horse with weird shoulders because she used to race shes got muscle galore.
It all depends on the build of your horse I went with a 78 its a little loose but dose the job I have large ponies 14.3 with good hay bellies
Hello, I bought my 15.3-16 hand gelding a 78 and it fits him perfect!
My horse is a 16.2 hand TB and she wears an 81 comfortably

What do you mean? Size? Depends of how big your horse is. It's a very nice sheet tho. Lightweight and durable.
This is a good sheet just measures your horse and by the correct sizes
I bought this sheet for my quarter horse Mare and it fits her nicely
I bought the 78" for my quarter horse, it fits him great!

How heavy is this blanket?

BEST ANSWER: This is an unfilled, 0gram sheet. It is the satin liner and the outer shell, like a windbreaker. As far as use goes, on an unclipped horse, I have found it suitable for use by itself when temps are around 40, on a clipped horse at around 50. It is generously cut which has allowed me to use it for layering either under or over other things like the Tough-1 fleece cooler/liner or with the other turnout blankets..

It's perfect for rain, sleet or snow!! Its waterproof. I have a draft cx with a super thick coat so it's perfect for him.
It's a turn out sheet so not very thick at all.
No fill - provides wind and rain protection.
It's a sheet, not a blanket.

Would this work to keep rain/light snow and wind out? Also would it work for 20-30 degrees?
BEST ANSWER: It's perfect for below freezing conditions in Alabama seems to hold some body heat in without the horse sweating I'm not sure about northern conditions but would guess it would work well. I do know it is well made. we have used blankets for 30 years and these are good ones.

I Found this sheet to be very good for the conditions, which are described. The horse that I used the sheet on was not over heated, but very comfortable. I would strongly recommend this for light turn out conditions.
This is a sheet only, no fill/insulation. It's great for rain, light snow, or as an extra layer. It would not be effective by itself in 20-30 degree temperatures.
I buy one of these blankets every year to use for rain n light snow. I would not use this blanket for 20-30degree weather.
it works to keep rain and light snow out but if temps are that chilly i would use a little bit heavier of a blanket

I have problems with static what can I do when she wears these sheets, I love them except for that?
BEST ANSWER: My one horse has way more static then my others (all wear same blankets), instead of pulling it off of her all at once, I fold it back like a foot at a time. I've heard if you mist them with some hair spray before putting it on helps. My main thing is to not slide it off at once, rather I "pick it up" off of her about a foot at a time and "stack" the blanket as I go back.

I don't think there's any blanket that won't have static, I usually unbuckle, fold the front over the back then take it off carefully. It lessens the amount of static.
Spray the blanket with static gard or spray your horse with a moisturizer (like the healthy coat or something like that)
You can just rub a dryer sheet inside of the sheet in the mid-section. That should do it.

Yes! Even after my horse ripped the trim off. ( she's pretty good at that ) my boyfriend was able to use the blanket to cover his tools that uses outside
Yes, it is waterproof. Just don't dry it in a dryer or use fabric softener because it causes the sheet to fail. Only hang it to dry.
Yes, I have purchased three of them and they have proven to be waterproof. However, water does leak in at the withers a little bit.

is this a medium weight blanket?
BEST ANSWER: No - this is a turnout sheet, not a blanket. It has no fill/insulation. It is a good wind and rain cover, or a good top layer over other horse clothing.

Hi Emily, This is a turnout sheet and it does not have any fill. So to answer your question no I would not consider this to be a medium weight blanket.
This is not a medium weight, however, tough one does make a nice medium weight blanket. I would and do use them regulary. Great blanket for the money.
Yes It does well for the cold days and nights in NC

is it light weight ?

BEST ANSWER: Yes. This is both lightweight strength material at 420 denier for the outer layer, and also lightweight because it is a turnout sheet with no insulating fill.

Yes. It's just a rain sheet really. That makes it very usefull. I can put it over a sheet/ blanket that is not water proof on wet nights.
It has been a long time since I bought the blanket. It is of medium weight and worked well in the Colorado winters.
Yes, it is very light weight and has no fill to it.

BEST ANSWER: That's what I use it for. But it's not warm enough for our horse below 40 degrees. Basically, it's like wearing an unlined raincoat would be for us.

HOw do we measure our horse for this sheet?
A shopper
on Nov 21, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Stand your horse as square as possible. Measure from the center of the chest along the side of the body to the point of the horse's hindquarters just before the tail (essentially right along the line where the two colors meet). If your horse ends up measuring between sizes, choose the one closest to your measurement unless your horse is particularly big-bodied. Measuring is usually best done with a helper and a soft or cloth measuring tape. Be careful to measure horizontally without tipping the tape up or down. Take the measurement twice to be sure. Measure from center of chest, along the shoulder and along the side to center of buttocks where the cheek meets the tail. This measurement is the blanket size.
