Tough1 600D Waterproof Poly Neck Cover

Designed to be used with Tough-1 Turnout Blankets, this Tough1 Neck Cover features a coated 600 Denier Poly outer shell and 250 grams of polyfill to provide medium warmth and protection from wind and rain. Features:

  • 600 Denier Poly
  • 250g Polyfill
  • 210 Denier Poly lining prevents rubbing and helps to keep the coat shiny while preventing hair, shavings, and straw from sticking to the inside of the blanket
  • Double-sewn heavy nylon binding to secure material and provide additional durability
  • Double-sewn reinforced stress points with additional reinforcement to help prevent tears
  • Adjustable three-snap closure along underside of neck

Measuring Instructions:
Stand your horse as square as possible, and measure from the center of chest around side of the body to the point of the horse's rump just before the tail. If your horse ends up measuring between sizes, always round up to the next size to ensure full coverage.

Washing Instructions:
It is recommended that Tough1® blankets be hand washed in cool water using mild detergent. This may extend the life of the waterproof properties of the blanket.
If washing in a machine, it is recommended that a commercial grade machine with cold water and mild detergent be used. Remove as much loose hair and dirt as possible before washing. This will make it easier for the machine to effectively clean the blanket. Straps should be adjusted to their shortest length or removed, if possible, when machine washing.
If a spot remover is to be used, test on an inconspicuous area.
Blanket should be hung and allowed to air dry.

Horses Turned Outside Without Shelter:
Tough1 Turnout Sheet and Blanket materials are waterproof and designed to keep your horse dry. However, if your horse is turned out in a field without a run in shed or shelter during prolonged rain or heavy downpours, your horse may still get wet, especially in the neck and tail areas.
When using a blanket or sheet, it is critical to monitor the fluctuating climate and temperatures, even with a blanket that is waterproof and breathable. The wicking properties of a breathable blanket are designed to wick away normal body heat. When a blanket is too heavy, the heat and moisture cannot be wicked away fast enough, causing your horse to sweat. The temperature and the length of your horse’s coat will determine what weight of blanket you should use. For this reason, most people who choose to blanket horses have several articles of horse clothing that offer varying levels of warmth.
When selecting a blanket, be sure to take into account your horse’s behavior, environment, or other horses that may be turned out with your horse. The lower the denier number, the less strength the material has. 420 Denier and 600 Denier are not recommended for horses that bite, chew or rub on blankets, or for horses turned out with a companion or in a group. Always ensure your horse’s blanket is properly fitted and all straps are adjusted correctly. If a blanket is too tight or too loose, straps may break and material may tear.
For younger horses or horses turned out with a companion or in groups, it is recommended to purchase 1200 Denier or 1680 Denier material, as these are stronger materials and are less likely to tear. Certain types of fencing, such as barbwire, or foreign objects, such as nails, will easily tear any blanket no matter what the denier, so always inspect the area in which your horse is kept to remove any nails or jagged fencing that may cause damage. There are no horse blankets that are guaranteed to not rip or tear.

Keeps my horse warm when it's chilly and keeps the rain off of his neck when it's raining. I have not had any problem with it rubbing his mane. This is the third neck cover I have purchased .
Hiedi W on Jan 8, 2017
Was pleased with one I had previously bought for a smaller, younger horse so bought this one for my 20 yr old saddlebred mare who is a rescue. Know she will really appreciate being kept dry in cold, wet weather

I bought three of these neck rugs to use next winter. They sure appear sturdy and should do the trick.
Carla K on Mar 2, 2016
I wanted to keep my horses a little extra cozy this winter & it also helps keep their hair flat, so you don't get a sleek body from having the blanket on & a big fuzzy neck. Also great if you body clip, it helps keep their neck warm.

To go with my Tough1 snugit blanket... and it was a great price!!!
Vicki F on Dec 28, 2015
I tried other neck covers, this is the only one with a nice comfortable fit, yet not so loose that it was a danger to my horse.
Wendy L on Dec 21, 2015
quality and price to match the snuggit blankets. I used these along with the snuggit turnout 300 and all 3 horses stayed warm dry and no rips no tears and their manes looked awesome this spring. Definitely recommend and would purchase this again.

I have the Tough1 turn out blanket, we have had extremely cold weather in Saranac Lake, NY so am trying to keep my Appy mare more comfortable and warm by purchasing this neck gator for that purpose. When it arrives, gets tried on and fits (hopefully) i will let you know the outcome. Thank you :)

What size should I get for my 15.2 H horse? His blanket size is 72-75"
Jadyn S on Jan 14, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Certainly a large. My mare is 14'1, 72" blanket. I got a sz Med and I thought they run a bit small.
Is it waterproof?
A shopper on Dec 1, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It is water resistant I have used these for years and my horses stay dry and warm.
can this neck cover be used with any other brand blanket, I need a neck cover for my WB blanket?
Jessica R on Oct 20, 2015
BEST ANSWER: yes as long as your blanket has the rings to attach the snaps from the hood to the blanket. There are 3 snaps with elastic to hold it in place. One to attach to the top of the blanket and one on each side. My winter blanket does not have the rings so I have to put a sheet over the blanket that has the rings. Works well though because then I can wash the sheet and keep the heavy blanket cleaner and not have to wash it as often.
My horse is a 15.3 hand Appendix Quarter Horse, he wears an 81” blanket and I’m not sure which size to get. What size should I get?
Beth C on Sep 27, 2018
BEST ANSWER: A blanket size 81 is at the high end of Large and the low end of X-Large. Which way you go would depend whether you feel that your horse's neck is longer or shorter.

I need a neck wrap, prefer waterproof, to protect an IV shunt in his neck. Can this be used without a blanket and will it stay in place? Or can it attach to a halter?
Susan on Feb 18, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It has three clips down the from of the neck and three clips across withers to attach to the blanket. Without the blanket being attached not sure it wouldn’t just roll up. The mane tamer would prolly work better
Is this waterproof?
A shopper on Sep 18, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes it is. The part where it connects from the neck to chest sometimes leaves a gap depending on how you horse flexes it's neck so that part of their fur and skin may get damp or wet.
What do the straps look like? My blanket has rings on it for the straps, will this cover work for a blanket with rings?
Jadyn S on Jan 14, 2017
BEST ANSWER: If I understand your question then yes. Their are 3 adjustable elastic straps with alligator clips one each that attach the neck cover to the blanket. I have used the neck covers wtih Weatherbetta, Toough1 and Amigo blankets and it worked well with all three of them. Hope that helps.
Does it clip on the blanket?
A shopper on Oct 14, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes. It is necessary to have a blanket with hooks to clip on to
how large is the XL in inches as it shows it is available but only gives size of large at 38 in?
Virginia B on Oct 28, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The XL is approximately 40 inches and is used for blanket sizes 81" - 84".
Can I order this product in Extra Large? I believe it's available.
Florence E on Jun 1, 2015
BEST ANSWER: When I ordered one, I believe it said size 36 or 38,so I measured him at 36. When I got it,it was a medium on the packaging and tho it doesn't match the size blanket for M(69-72) it did fit him. He 14.2 1200lbs and has a 78 blanket. The package shows a L(75-78) and XL(81-84)! Good fit to the blanket too! Hope this is s bit helpful for gauging size!?!
