Product Summary:

This is the classic synthetic felt fiber blend that has been used for work and training on horses for nearly 50 years. No other pad can come close to the time-tested effectiveness of this good, felt fiber pad. This quality pressed fiber felt does an excellent job of dispersing most of the pinpoint pressure that a saddle can apply.

The special cut-back area on this pad is designed so that your horse’s shoulders have freedom of movement giving you and your horse a free-flowing, supple movement. The cut-back area is sized so that it relieves the steady pressure on the shoulders that a horse may feel with other pads.

By not allowing the saddle bars and rider's weight to press steadily against the horse’s shoulders, this pad helps prevent related back, leg, and joint problems. Hose off or wash with soap and water, hang to dry.

Needed an extra pad for my horse when riding. It helped my horse when I cut out a hole in it for her back. It was easy to cut and inexpensive to use as a second pad when I am riding.

What size does it fit?
A shopper on Jan 18, 2017
BEST ANSWER: If you are asking what size horse, I mainly use it on a 13 hand mustang cross, about 750 lbs. I have used on my 16 h thoroughbred and fits well with no dry spots, it also works well for my 14.3 quarthorse so pretty good all around pad. I do like the fit on my little one and TB because they have shorter backs and this one works well for them. I use a barrel saddle on them and with this pad, it suits their shorter backs well. My QH, I like a little longer pad to accommodate his saddle. It is big enough for the roping saddle I use, but not much extra. Hope that is helpful.
bridging on the saddle ?
A shopper on Nov 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It’s just a flat pad but the pictures of the stitching looks like it might have extra padding in certain areas but it doesn’t. Bridging would depend on horse and saddle fit/ shape. Since it’s layered felt it does conform to shape once used a while if saddle and horse already “fit”. If not look at built up pad or bridge pad option.
How absorbent is this pad?
Kelly F on May 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I bought this pad a few months ago, My horse gets sweaty since we are in a hot desert area, but this pad dries very quickly. The down side is that it's very hard to get dirt off of it without a super deep clean.

As for shock absorbtion, I always find myself needing an extra pad on his withers since this pad squishes down a bit.
