I like the veil idea as the strings move constantly and flies and hay debris can get caught under and in the mask. The ear nets are great for summer where I live as we get gnats for 4-6 weeks in the summer that can really bother the horses.

have one works well on trail rides for deer flies . we are in the woods a lot and this does not interfere with their vision as a full face mask does in low light
